Ali's Miata: Then and now
Here is a special video I made for my friend Ali, whose 1997 Mazda Miata has come a long way from when he first got it...
When we first picked up the car, in 2010, the engine cylinders were rusted, the body was beat up and the interior was a mess- there was obviously a lot of work to do. Over the past couple of years the car has been upgraded and refined little by little, and while it isn't anywhere near complete, it is already an awesome car that is a ton of fun to be around!
Recently, Ali traveled overseas and I was lucky enough to keep the car for him, so I made this video to show how dramatically the car has changed since he first acquired it... there have been a lot of good times in this Miata- here's to many more!

Miata MX5: Exhaust Sounds (NA8C)
We like tunnels.
Audio samples of my custom Exhaust setup.
Speeds were legal for all recordings despite some parts of this overloading the camera's microphone.
The setup isn't annoying in the cabin, easy conversation volume with the passenger at highway cruising speeds, no bleeding ears.
Exhaust setup: highflow cat, 2.25" steel to resonator, branching to calibrated deadpipe*, then to twin outlet muffler (glass pack 'straight through') to twin Exhaust tips. Designed with as minimal bends as possible (with my design constraints)
*Quarter wave cancelling frequency at 3500rpm @ 275ºc (no highway drone in 5th gear at cruising speeds (100-110kph) Works very well.
Next harmonic quiet spot at 5000rpm, from inside the cabin, at WOT, engine noise is louder then Exhaust noise.
Pedders and HoonTV Mazda Mx5 project car
Pedders recently teamed up with independent film maker Mark Boxer to bring you the HoonTV Mazda Mx5 project car. Mark Boxer says "Earlier this year we put this video together of our MX5 being fitted with all new Pedders eXtreme coil-overs. Originally when we took the car to the Wakefield Park, just running the lowered springs we pulled out, the car managed a 1:16.3 with only a basic brake upgrade, intake Exhaust and Advan AD08 tyres. We're happy to say that with the eXtreme coil-overs fitted, we shaved off a whole second and got the car down to a 1:15.1. The amazing part too is that this was with no major adjustments to the suspension given the amount available and as the day progressed we suffered a sticky rear brake caliper which affected braking performance, yet were still able to go just as fast!"

Miata TopSpeed PRO-1 Exhaust 1.6L N/A
Here we have a video of the TopSpeed PRO-1 exhaut, check out the website they make tons of great products for lots of popular cars, www.topspeedauto.com. I got this Exhaust and drove it for a week with the cat still on, and so far 2 days with the catless test pipe. On a Naturally Aspirated 1.6L I noticed a increase over my other "performance" Exhaust, not only is this Exhaust FAR better in quality and sound, but it is 60mm so the air flows alot better. I myself love loud Exhausts and having the catless test pipe is awesome, it gives it a deeper growl, probably a 25% loudness increase over stock cat aswell. You can find this Exhaust on ebay, the companies name is "delubozparts". I wish I could have got video of the welds on this Exhaust, they are beautiful and very well done. For the price you cannot beat it!
Sorry about the under car shot I didnt clean up the Exhaust at all.
