Bad-Ass Buick: 1955 Special - /BIG MUSCLE
Owner: • Harry Fisher In stock form, the 1955 Buick Special could best be described as a "nice" car. It's not drop dead gorgeous like a 1959 Impala, nor does it have the panache of say a 1956 Chrysler 300. You see the '55 Buick Special was a working mans car. It had room enough for the whole family, a decent power-plant thanks to its 264 cubic inch V8, and style that was, well... above average. Harry Fisher or "Uncle Harry" as most people know him, saw the old Buick a bit differently though. He knew that with a few little touches (like a 502 cubic inch big-block, modern suspension, and a new set of wheels) that this old Buick had the potential to become one of the baddest hot-rods around.

We originally built this car with Frank Urbinati back in 1996.It debuted at the GS Nationals where it won the GS Pro Street class races. It was also the 1st GS Pro Street class car to break into the 9's at the time.Thanks to Frank this project came to life. Fast forward to 2010 and the car has been taken over by Bob Ortolani,the car still looks great and Bob decided to bring it up another level. We were happy to have the car come back to our shop and to have the opportunity to work with Bob and put together the new powerplant. The video shows the results of our 1st day out to tune the engine. The 1st two passes were shakedowns to check fuel/oil pressures and get a feel for the new combo. By the 3rd run we had posted a 9.62 @ 138 hitting the 7100rpm rev limiter chip! The 4th run was a 9.52 @ 140. On the 5th run it went 9.51 @ 140.65! After a good cool down and a timing adjustment we were ready to try for a 9.40 run, launching right off idle the car gave us a nice big unexpected wheelie! The wheelie sure lookes cool but we know we can go quicker with a little more suspension work to straighten out the launch and try to keep the front down. We're sure it'll go into the 9.40's yet and maybe even 30's after everything is worked out.





9 Second Buick GS Stage1
This was the car's 1st 9 sec. pass. Built around the GS Club Of America's GS Street Eliminator Class rules. A real street car naturally aspirated with a complete Exhaust system,full interior etc. It is the first GS to run in the 9's using the original cast iron Stage1 heads, under the GSE rules! It is a stock stroke 455 with an .038 overbore to give it 464ci. It weighs 3500lbs and it idles smooth enough to still run the power brakes! This pass was 9.98@132.4 mph and was backed up with a 9.99@ 132.7 run.

Big Block Buick 462 going into a 73 Buick Apollo
Here is the buick 462 thats going in a 73 buick apollo. 73 455 block bored .30 over, speed pro .30 over hypereutectic pistons with 4 valve reliefs and coated skirts, about 9.5 to 1 comp. ta 310 cam, stock 73 heads slightly milled with stock valves, new springs and bowl ported. 1970 Buick GS Convertible Pro Touring STK # 1045
This Buick GS 455 convertible tribute is show quality from front to back. Over $50,000 was spent on the recent restoration and resto-mod upgrades. The end result was well worth it and has turned this into one heck of a Pro Touring musclecar! Want to learn more? For starters the body is straight as an arrow and the springtime yellow paint looks simply amazing. Take a quick look underneath and you will see a very detailed undercarriage with extremely solid frame and floor pans. This car is much more than a set of wheels and a pretty paint job! Underhood you'll find a date-coded 1970 Buick 455 producing some awesome horsepower and torque that get this car out of town in a hurry. Stopping chores are handled by slotted SSBC disc brakes both front and rear. The wheels are by Foose and measure 20 inches in front and 22 inches in the rear. Open the trunk and you'll find a custom built box housing the Air Ride Technologies compressor, a full size 20 inch spare, and a storage area on the opposite side. This car has been tastefully done and looks awesome going down the road!
