Tucked away in a small industrial park in Oxnard, CA sits JCG Restorations & Customs, a moderately sized shop that has built some of the best performing pro-touring cars that we've ever driven. Now generally we don't focus in on shops, however when the owners of three of our best test cars start dropping names, we tend to listen. Originally we descended on JCG to drive Blu Balz, a stunning 1968 Camaro owned by one Karl Dunn. However since Mother Nature decided to water the Earth that day, we put our original plans on hold and got shop owner Cris Gonzalez to give us the in's and out's of what it takes to make a stellar pro-touring car.
1968 Camaro - Blu Balz 2.0 - /BIG MUSCLE
• Karl Dunn
It was over a year ago that we first ventured down to JCG Restorations and
Customs in Oxnard, California. There we were introduced to owner Chris
Gonzalas and a wicked 1968 Chevrolet Camaro that was owned by a
gentleman named Karl Dunn, and aptly named, Blu Balz. Mother nature
unfortunately didn't let us play that day, and because of that we vowed to
give Mr. Balz another day on camera.
1971 Chevrolet Camaro: Mary Pozzi, Queen of Grip - /BIG MUSCLE
For its season opener BIG MUSCLE hangs out with the Queen of Grip herself,
Mary Pozzi. We traveled to Northern California to meet up with Mary,
husband David and her highly modified LS2 powered 1971 Chevrolet Camaro. We talked racing, car
set-up, touched on her SCCA autocross championships as well as her
inclusion in Sony's upcoming Gran Turismo 6. Then we took out her stunning
prized Camaro for an
all day flog in the California canyons.
1967 GT500 Eleanor: Re-imagining a Classic - /BIG MUSCLE
Carroll Shelby created it, "Gone in 60 Seconds" re-imagined it, and
audiences around the world made it famous. The 1967 Shelby GT500 Eleanor is
one of the most recognizable movie cars of all time. With the body lines of
a shark, the stage presence of a movie star and the perceived performance
of an olympic athlete, it's no wonder die-hard enthusiasts fell in love
with this amazing machine. BIG MUSCLE received so many requests for this
car that we just had to go out and find one. So now sit back, click play
and enjoy... and don't bust my chops in regards to my glasses - it was
really sunny that day - M. Musto
Satan's Rat-Rod: 1931 Ford - /BIG MUSCLE
• Henry Kessler
The engine is out of a 1952 Diamond-Reo tractor and makes 1,640 lb-ft of
torque. The chassis is pieced together from old light poles from the City
of Hollywood. The body... that's from a 1931 Ford. Meet Gretchen, one of
the coolest rat-rods we've ever seen and a ride that turns heads wherever
it goes. This ain't no hybrid, instead it's a black smoke belching,
gasoline guzzling, animal of a car that's not only amazing to look at, but
with some cool hidden engineering, has the ability to surprise even the
most hardened of motor-heads.

Test Driving 1967 Chevrolet Camaro 502 Big-Block Restomod - Fast Lane Classic Cars
Be sure to check us out on Facebook at:
I thought you'd like a look at this awesome 1967 Chevrolet Camaro. This beast is powered by
a ZZ502 Big-block crate engine, that's pushing out 502 HP and 567 LbFt of
Torque. All that power is being funneled through a Centerforce clutch, to
a Borg Warner T10 four-speed, and then back to a 12 bolt rear with 3.55
gears. This car has all the performance you need and then some. It's also a
beautifully restored car, from the ultra slick black exterior with SS trim,
to the completely restored houndstooth interior. It's also equipped with
front disc brakes, Eagle Alloy wheels, and BF Goodrich ZR speed rated
tires. This car goes, turns, and stops amazingly well. I hope you find it
interesting...thanks for taking a look!

$1,000,000 Ferrari Restoration Detail
This Ferrari is a good friend and customers car that was flown in the night
before from the UK. It needed a bit of work to get it looking presentable
again, and after a 2 day restoration... shouldn't need anything more than
layers of sealant and wax for the rest of its life. (if cleaned and
maintained properly in the future) This video shows you what I'm thinking
about as I restore a $1 million car, and how understanding the interaction
between different materials will effect the outcome of your work. The
purpose of this video is not about "step by step" demonstration, but
rather a glimpse of what professional detailers think about when working on
extremely rare cars. Thanks for watching and send me an email if you have
any questions. firstname.lastname@example.org
The Original Sting Ray - /BIG MUSCLE
• BRIAN HOBAUGH
When did you first realize that you loved cars? Maybe it was the time you
caught a glimpse of a Ferrari as you were sitting in the back of your
parents minivan. Or maybe it happened after watching your older brother do
a burnout in his rusted out Camaro. For owner Brian Hobaugh,
his love of cars started thanks to his Dad and a certain 1965 Chevrolet
Corvette that's been in their family for over 30 years.
1968 Charger / 1969 Daytona - /BIG MUSCLE Garage
The 1968 Dodge Charger and the 1969 Dodge Daytona. Two cars based off the
same platform with very different personalities. These two old sleds are
different though, 'cause well, they belong to me (your host) and they're
the reason that BIG MUSCLE exists today. These are not show ponies,
cruisers or weekend projects, but two warhorses that have been run in some
of the toughest long distance and performance events in the United States.
Built for reliability, power and performance, they are not technological
marvels, but old school resto-mods that have been updated for one reason
and one reason only - to put smiles on the faces of all those who see them.
Mitch Allread: Don't Call it a Rat Rod... - /BIG MUSCLE
It packs a 400 hp diesel out of a Ford F-350, a Dana 80 rear-end, and a
look and feel that would make Max Rockatansky feel right at home. This is
Mitch Allread's custom fabricated creation and it is, without a doubt, one
of the coolest things on the road today. This is a machine that transcends
the traditional hot rod formula by breaking down borders and setting its
Whereas most hot-rods are built by custom shops utilizing parts from mail
order catalogs, Mitch took a different approach and fabricated just about
everything on his ride by hand. Calling this a rat-rod would be an insult -
a work of art however... that'd be just fine.

Mid-Engine Crown Corvair: Porsche Cayman Fighter - /BIG MUSCLE
• Chuck Rust
Wouldn't it have been great if the United States had one truly great
mid-engine sports car? I mean yes, there was the Ford GT40, Ford GT and of
course the Pontiac Fiero (that sucked though), but just imagine if American
manufacturers really had their act together and created something awesome.
Chuck Rust, the owner of this 1965 Corvair Crown V8, knew that the little
Chevy had great potential and that with A LOT of work (and some ingenuity),
it could be turn into something outstanding. This car is about fun,
performance and proving people wrong. It sounds outstanding, has some of
the best lines out there, and thanks to a little funky paint and graphic
work from its' owner, has a presence that few cars can match. One of the
most well balanced performers we've ever driven, this Corvair Crown had us
grinning from ear to ear from the first moment we turned the key.
