I got there at 11:00 am, but left before 3:15. ...I like the pit action more than the racing anyway. Had to get home for a car show.

LSX Shootout True Street Class 2009
Memphis, TN. (October 17, 2009) The final results are in from the 3rd Annual GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout during the 2009 NMCA World Finals at Memphis Motorsports Park (Memphis, TN). East Coast Superchargings Doug Ring took top honors while competing in the GM Performance Parts True Street category. The NMCA True Street LSX Class featured more than 120 highly-modified LSX-powered street cars that are certified street-legal and required to complete a 30-mile course through the streets around Memphis. True Street is designed for stock-chassis or back-half type vehicles running 10.5-inch wide tires. All vehicles must be registered, licensed, and insured. Any year vehicle without any restrictions on power adders are allowed to compete. Following the 30 mile cruise, competitors were required to make three consecutive passes, without opening the hood or topping off the fuel tank. Doug Ring, co-owner of East Coast Supercharging (ECS), traveled more than 36 hours round trip to attend the shootout. He said what could be a more effective way to showcase what we do than to come out and put it all on the line at what is considered the premier LSX Street Car shootout in the nation? Rings car, a 98 Corvette convertible, is prepared with a GM LS2 stroked to 402ci and pumped up by an ECS Supercharging System utilizing a Paxton Novi 2000 head unit. I drive the car on the street quite often, and I have logged more than thirty 8-second passes on the set up. The majority of the event was business as usual. Doug made three consecutive passes of 8.86, 8.81 and 9.05 for an average of 8.91, besting the competition by more than a half-second. Forty-five minutes later, Doug swapped his DOT tires for a pair of slicks, tweaked the tune a bit, and clicked off an ET of 8.63, setting a new world record for late-model supercharged Corvettes. Special Thanks Doug would like to thank Paxton Superchargers and American Racing Headers. Pfadt Race Engineering was also a huge reason for the very quick times while utilizing an IRS-style setup. Pfadt put together a suspension that applies the power to the ground consistently and lives under the rigors of street driving. As fast as it is, the car is easy to drive. On the street or at the track, the car is stable and still comes off the line incredibly well while holding the 60-foot drag racing record for a late model Corvette with an IRS suspension, proclaimed Doug.
