From a late 70's South African candid camera-type movie 'Funny People' by Jamie Uys. A VW Type 3 Squareback was rigged by remote to fool around with people, and it was all captured on film. Note the other VW cars in the background, typical 70's South African street scenes. For more info on the local VW scene, go to www.aircooledvwsa.co.za and enjoy! Regards Pine
You mustn't blow your horn at people, eh?
Not strictly VW, but a few nice Southt African cars from the 70's in this clip from the movie 'Funny People' by Jamie Uys - Enjoy! Pine
1965 VW Squareback with buried speedo
In board my friend Caps 1965 VW Squareback.Hit 116 mph in one pass and buried the speedo doing 120 mph in another.1914 cc, Cb Performance 044 Heads,MSD Ignition, FK10 Cam,Pauter 1.4:1 ratio rockers, Exhaust is custom built by Cap using a Corvette C5 muffler.
1967 VW Type 3 Fastback: "Inge"
Portland, OR: excellent, nearly all-original 1967 VW Type 3 Fastback.
Third owner, has been with me for nearly 10 years. No rust beyond superficial surface dings. Pan is 100% solid. Chrome is very good, though has some minor areas of pitting. Never any sort of major accident (front and rear are clean), though there is evidence of long-ago passenger side door repair (done poorly). Glass is perfect. Motor is 98% original and "all there." Original interior is excellent (no rips / tears; front seats could use new foams), all correct trim pieces are there, dash is perfect. Everything works but clock may need attention (regreasing, etc.) Runs, drives, shifts, brakes wonderfully.
COMES WITH: original delivery papers and early records; original uber rare *RED TYPE 3 WOLFSBURG FLOORMAT* though it is very well used and has always had a hole at the heel near skinny pedal; red coco mats, a bit faded; *extra set of correct Fastback popout window seals* (sourced from a donor car; not NOS, but very good to excellent condition); original AM radio; NOS German door seals; NOS Type 3 muffler; seals for turn signals and original rear turn signal lenses. Also have small box of original parts.
NEEDS: has a slow oil leak on passenger side valve cover; possible new battery (this one is new but has been driven so infrequently that it doesn't crank well unless jumped); could use carb tuning or rebuilds and general tune-up attention; needs new window rubber seals (front and rear); could use new seals for front and rear trunks (I have one for rear.) I'd also love to track down some original '67 Type 3 wheels and trim; these chromies look nice from 10 ft away but the chrome is pretty weak and starting to rust.
This car is not a show car (yet). It needs to live with a real Type 3 geek, someone who will care for it and cherish it with the attention and love a rare survivor like this deserves. I know in 10 years I am going to be very regretful of this, but right now I do not have the means/time/skills to maintain this wonderful car like it should be.
[ PS yes, I know I have a typo in one of the last titles... ]

My 1971 VW Squareback - sold it miss it - Ed Siarkowicz Photographic Images, LLC
This little beauty lugged my camera equipment around for a little over a year. What a classy ride it was. I replaced it with a 1994 Buick Roadmaster "GS" wagon with a LT1 350/300. If I could get this little gem back I would! To see my photography portfolios type Ed Siarkowicz Photographic Images, LLC into YouTube or join me on Facebook.
VW type3 invasion

The IMPI VW Type 4 upright conversion
The IMPI VW Type 4 conversion is developed and manufactured on a non-commercial basis in South Africa. An air cooled VW Type 4 engine (sourced from a VW 411, 412 or Type 2 Bus) is converted to an 'upright' configuration in order to install it into a VW Beetle or early VW Bus for increased power and durability. Little to no modification of the engine bay of the car is needed. IMPI (originally the name for a traditional Zulu warrior) is a non-profitable company (read: hobby/passion turned into a small business) and has no relation whatsover to the European Motor Parts Incorporated (EMPI) company, or the DTM fan shroud manufactured by Jake Raby. My VW type 3 on a Gaelic TV show
In August 2009 I was asked by a production company if they could use my VW type 3 to film a classic car segment for a TV show.
This video is the piece as it finally appeared on a BBC Alba program called Cuibhlichean An Fhortain (I dont know what it translates as).
The program was made for BBC Alba which is a gaelic speaking channel so please do not adjust your set, its supposed to sound like that :-).
This is the same car featured in my other type 3 video but its now fully restored by myself and my good friend Mick. For pictures of the restoration go here;
