1953 OLDSMOBILE SUPER 88 - ORIGINAL SURVIVOR MUSEUM PIECE
The Rocket V8 engine is making a name for itself by the popularity of the horsepower it produced. Buyers who favored this so-called jet propulsion Rocket engine considered these Oldsmobiles the " ruling power of the road ". What you see here is an original survivor in such splendid and pristene factory condition that is, I think, a museum piece. There are only 17,000 miles on that Rocket engine, an engine that shared with the top end 98 Series, a 303 cid with 165 Rocket horses. The low end Olds model was the 88 Deluxe, followed by this 88, and then the 98 which was larger in size compared to the others. 119,317 Rocket 88 4-doors were built this year and weighed in at 3,673 pounds. Massive chrome bumpers I'm sure added to that substantial weight. 1953 also was a year for GM concept cars: Buick Skylark, Cadillac Eldorado, and the Oldsmobile Fiesta. Although offered to the public these advanced styling concept cars sold at a higher price and are rare and hard to find today. Only 458 Fiestas were made and they cost $5,717. This Super 88 sold for $2,462 - basically half the cost of a Fiesta. Take a look at this wonderful original survivor. It looks like it was just driven out of the factory. Only cosmetic cleaning took place after being in storage for years. It is truly a beautiful vehicle to behold. Thanks very much for viewing this 1953 Olds Super 88.

1953 Oldsmobile Rocket 88
For starters what a cool cruiser (please read on it's worth it) This Old's definitely falls under many classifications.
First...... is is a very cool old muscle car, This classic car is defined as the grandfather of all muscle cars. It had light-weight V8, small body and more power than necessary [the engine was actually made for larger 98 series]. In fact, during the first 3 years Oldmobile's Rocket was the best performing vehicle. In 1950 Rocket won 8 out of 10 NASCAR races with the only one available automatic transmission and some other interesting features [overhead valve-train, forged crank with counterweights, hydraulic lifters, aluminum pistons, etc].
Second..... Luxury, it had one the most luxurious interiors for its time. Now has all new interior, Seats, carpet , head liner.
Third...... could be completed as a great classic car. With the missing chrome pieces this car could be back to it's original grander
Fourth..... great candidate to become a super driving Rat Rod. Complete drive train and suspension, black it out and have fun!!!
This cool Old's now has been updated with top of the line 355 Crate engine and a 700-4R 4 speed automatic with overdrive. This car is a driver and no reason that it could not be driven anywhere.
Engine, Transmission Brakes and Suspension
All new crate 355 engine with a very nice chrome package, a super site when you open the hood you always get the "WOW" that looks sharp. The engine fires right up and sounds great and runs strong, this sharp looking great sound power plant is backed up by a fresh 700-4R over drive tranny. This Old's 88 cruises down the highway effortlessly and handles great with all updated suspension and power brakes!
Interior
All new carpet, and recovered seats makes it a great place to see and be seen from, at your local car show, you will almost for sure be the only Rocket 88 there. The modulation that this car puts off will for sure turn heads.
Exterior
Older paint still shows well, does have lots of touch up spots. All body panels look to be original, very few rust spots but there is rust coming through on one corner and a another small spot on one of the doors. The pans on this car have been fixed or are original, the frame is straight and solid and so are all the body mounts.
In Closing
If you looking for a unique Classic/Hot rod/Cruiser/ or a candidate for a super dependable Rat Rod, this really is one not to let get away. There is no way one could build this car for anywhere near what we are asking, and be very hard pressed to find one that drive as well either. So give us a call and let us help you into a very rare and unique ride.

1951 OLDSMOBILE SUPER 88 CONVERTIBLE, ROCKET ENGINE
THE OLDS ROCKET ENGINE HAD BEEN AROUND A COUPLE OF YEARS BUT THIS YEAR THIS V-8 HAS A NEW DISTRIBUTOR AND CARBUERETOR. HORSES REMAINED THE SAME AT 135 FROM THIS 303 CID. THE SUPER 88 MODEL WAS THE MID RANGE OLDS HAVING THE 88 MODEL BENEATH AND THE 98 MODEL AT THE TOP. THIS WONDERFUL EXAMPLE IS ONE OF 3,854 SUPER 88 DELUXE CONVERTIBLES MADE THIS YEAR MAKING THIS A VERY RARE AUTOMOBILE. THIS EXAMPLE HAS 3 CARBS MOUNTED ON THE ROCKET MAKING THIS NOT ORIGINAL BUT PROBABLY BoostING THE HORSES CONSIDERABLY -- AND THE GAS MILEAGE ROCKETED TOO. THE SUGGESTED PRICE FOR THIS 3,800 POUND CAR IS $ 2,673. THIS CHARIOT RED OLDS HAS THE MAXIMUM RESTORATION FROM THE ENGINE BAY TO THE TRUNK. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR VIEWING THIS RARE OLDS CONVERTIBLE.
1953 Olds Fiesta Convertible WhtOrngRed
This car was a glimpse into the future at Olds...only 458 were made, and proudly exhibited as what I would call a "dream car" at GM's Motorama. This car had it all...power accessories which up to this point were rare, unique two tone color combinations, giving a hint of bold colors to come, panoramic curved windshield, fabulous color coordinate interior...what more could one wish for! Imagine the status of driving a dream car way back in 53...and even more spectacularly, now!

I got this info from Wikipedia
The Eighty-Eight's front and rear were restyled for 1996 to bear more resemblance to the flagship Aurora.
In the 1996 model year, GM renamed the model from Eighty Eight Royale to three models -- Eighty Eight, LSS (A "Luxury Sports Sedan" targeted to male European car buyers, available with a supercharged V6 and a floor mounted gear shifter). It is important to note, however, early LSS models (1995) were rarely equipped with the 3800 Supercharged engine. The LSS was an originally a trim level package on the 88 starting in 1992. In 1996 the LSS received Aurora-inspired seats. 1996 was the final year that the original-style rocket (in black and silver) appeared on a hood emblem. 1997 would welcome the new Oldsmobile logo.
After the demise of the Ninety-Eight in 1996, Oldsmobile created the Regency for 1997-1998, which used the same front fenders and chrome grille as the Ninety-Eight sedan but kept the standard Eighty-Eight body. The Regency featured a long list of standard features including traction control, leather upholstery, dual 8-way power seats with a driver's side memory function, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and an electronic level control for the rear suspension. A standard driver's side Electrochromic outside mirror was standard on the Regency, a novel feature for it's time. The interior day/night auto-dimming mirror was linked to the outside mirror and dimmed both with the same intensity at the same time. Some of these options, like the 2-driver memory feature, were not available on the Eighty-Eight Royale or LSS.
All four vehicles used the same 110.8 in (2,810 mm) wheelbase and shared an updated version of the H-body. The suspension tuning, interior appointments, and certain exterior trim was used to differentiate the three models.
