1960 Lincoln Continental Convertible Top Retracting and Erecting
There are many video clips of retractable Fords and 4-door Lincoln convertible tops on Youtube but no 1958-1960 Lincolns. So here's a clip showing the convertible top in action. These cars are over 19 feet in length, weigh in at about 5400 pounds and are of unitbody construction. The reverse slant glass rear window opens and closes electrically and the whole rear window frame is pulled down into the car, taking the top with it. The tops locks to the windshield header by electrically driven screws. With the top crammed in the storage compartment there is still a hugh trunk behind it, unlike the Fords with their small luggage tubs and the 4-door Lincolns with very little storage.
