2013 Chevrolet Spark 2LT Test Drive & Urban City Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/chevrolet/spark/2013/ Last year Chevrolet debuted the Sonic subcompact car to compete with the likes of the Mazda2, Toyota Yaris, and Hyundai Accent just to name a few. Well for the 2013 model year, Chevy has gone even smaller with the introduction of the 2013 Chevrolet Spark which is one of the only city cars on sale here in America. The urban vehicle segment may not be that big just yet; but over in Europe, these tiny cars are a big hit and Chevy is hoping that trend will catch on here. The Spark is one of the smallest cars on the market competing against the likes of the Smart Fortwo and the Scion iQ. The 2013 Chevy Spark has a low base price of $12,185.
Little cars have not yet quite caught on here in the U.S. But things are changing and Automakers are taking notice; case in point: the 2013 Chevy Spark. This is General Motors first entry into this ultra-mini segment. The bright Jalapeno Metallic Green paint on the test vehicle looks pretty good and helps the Spark really stand out. For such a small car, the Spark has a whole lot of style going on. Up front is the very familiar family face that can be seen on other Chevrolet models, and large angular headlights are well integrated, and the aluminum trim pieces look great. Along the sides the 15-inch rims look perfect, the hatchback design gives you a very European feel, and integrated roof spoiler is nicely suited for this city car.
City cars are small in stature and hold fuel economy importance above overall power. So it should come as no surprise that the 2013 Chevrolet Spark has a small 1.2 liter 4-cylinder engine capable of 84 horsepower and 83 lb-ft. of torque. The Spark comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Fuel Economy is 32 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway.
Inside the drivers space is a great place to be. The ergonomics are cleverly laid out. There are some neat tricks going on throughout the cabin. One example is the gauge cluster that is reminiscent of a motorcycle and adjusts with the steering wheel. The command deck is a 7-inch screen with the Chevy MyLink system which looks very good.
The 2013 Chevrolet Spark is a very easy to drive car. There are a lot of standard features that adds great value to an already low priced car. There are a few other cars in this niche but the Spark offers so much more car at this price point.

First, she trains with Motor Trend road test editor Scott Mortara, who teaches her the rules of autocross and helps her establish the performance limits of the Sonic on the Motor Trend Figure 8 course. Then Jessi heads to El Toro Marine Base to finally compete in her first official SCCA autocross race.
