Jay Leno reviews Porsche 918 RSR Concept at Porsche Zentrum at The Quail
Jay Leno at the Porsche Zentrum at the Quail 0n Friday August 19th, 2011
during Monterey Auto Week. The 918 RSR concept was the highlight of the
Porsche Zentrum display on Friday and Saturday, August 19-20.
The 918 RSR concept is a high-end synthesis of Porsche's successful hybrid
concepts -- the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the 918 Spyder.
It is a true 'racing laboratory' featuring an updated V8 engine from the
successful RS Spyder race car with an output of 563 hp at 10,300 rpm. In
addition, it features electric motors on the two front wheels that each
contribute 75 kW, i.e. a total of 150 kW, to provide peak drive power of
767 hp. This additional power, which is generated during braking, is stored
in an optimized flywheel accumulator.

Porsche 918 Spyder on the road!! + Sound!
Today I have spotted the new Porsche 918 Spyder at the Nurburgring! The
looks of this new Porsche 918 Spyder are just fantastic and it looks much
and much better than the Carrera GT in my opinion. When we are in the car
we are following the new Porsche 918 Spyder and stopped at a place were we
can film the car. You will hear also the electric engine and also the
This car has a topspeed of 330 km/h (210mph) and 0-100 in 2.9 seconds!!
The engine is a 4.6 liter V8 engine with 580 hp and he has two electric

Huayra isn't quite as wild to listen to but it's not trying to be a Zonda.
Don't think of it as the Zonda replacement. The Huayra is James Bond to
the Zonda's Bruce Lee - they both have their place, and I can see why many
Huayra owners will be keeping their Zondas.
Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid drives - first real video
This past Thursday, the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid made its driving debut on
a closed road in Monterey California, just days prior to its appearance at
the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
After being shipped over from Germany by plane, engineers handed the keys
of the new 918 Spyder Hybrid to Porsche AG Design Chief Michael Mauer. The
car drove under its own power which comes from the mid mounted 3.4 liter V8
out of the RS Spyder as well as in all electric mode which powers just the
The 918 Spyder prototype combines high-tech racing features and
electro-mobility to offer a fascinating range of qualities: An emission
level of just 70 grams CO2 per kilometre on fuel consumption of three
litres/100 kilometres (equal to 94 mpg imp) truly outstanding even for an
ultra-compact city car, on the one hand, combined with the performance of a
super sports car and acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in
just under 3.2 seconds, top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph) plus, and a lap
time on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring in less than 7:30 minutes, faster than even the Porsche Carrera GT,
on the other.
