2011-2013 Volkswagen Jetta review from Consumer Reports
The redesigned Jetta sedan is a disappointment. Handling, braking, fuel
economy, and interior finish are all subpar. The pleasant Jetta Sportwagen
remains unchanged. Find out more about the Volkswagen Jetta and other

2012 Volkswagen Jetta SEL Test Drive & Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/volkswagen/jetta/2012/ The 2012 Volkswagen Jetta
has a ton of competition in the compact sedan segment. But the Jetta has a
few tricks up its sleeve to set is apart from the rest of the pack. First,
Volkswagen is the only non-luxury German automobile manufacturer. This
means you can expect a high level of quality and luxury in each vehicle
Volkswagen produces. Second, the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta has a very low base
price at $15,515 making is one of the least expensive vehicles in the
compact sedan segment. Finally, the Volkswagen Jetta is produced right here
in the Good Old U.S.A. at a plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is great
for those looking to buy automobiles that support jobs in America.
There are more than 50 different trim levels on the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta.
These include variations on engines, feature packages, and body style
(sedan or wagon). The very base model starts at $15,515 with the SEL seen
here starting at $23,445. The top of the line model is the TDI Wagon with
sunroof and navigation going for $29,220.
The engine choices are plentiful with 4 different engines being offered on
the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The first engine is the most basic. This 2.0
liter 4-cylinder has 115 horsepower and 125 lb-ft. or
torque while getting 24 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. The next
engine up is the 2.5 liter 5-cylinder making 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. of
torque while getting 23 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The next
step up is the turbocharged 2.0 liter
4-cylinder found on many Volkswagen vehicles. This little engine is found
on the GLI trim and puts out 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft. of
torque while averaging 22 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The
last engine is the venerable TDI which is a turbocharged and direct injected diesel engine.
This 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine makes 140 horsepower and a huge 236
lb-ft. of torque while returning 30 MPG in the city and 42 MPG on the
highway. All of these fuel economy figures are with the 6-speed manual
transmission installed. With the Automatic transmission the figures drop
just a bit.
The 2012 Volkswagen Jetta has a ton of usable interior space. In fact the
Jetta seems more like a mid-size than a compact sedan. There is over 3 feet
of rear legroom which according to VW is more than most large sedans. And
with the Wagon model you can get 67 cubic feet of cargo space. There is an
optional seating surface called V-Tex leatherette which looks and feel like
leather but cost much less. The Jetta SEL comes standard with heated front
seats as well. Since the SEL is one of the more expensive trims it does
come loaded with lots of great technology. There sound system is a 400 watt
Fender Stereo with a subwoofer and 8 speakers. A touch screen navigation
system is also standard on the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta SEL.
The Jetta is available in many different trims and configurations so that
there will be a model to suit you. The 2012 Volkswagen Jetta is a great
deal as it is one of the most fuel efficient compact sedans on the market.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta - The interior concept
http://www.eurocarnews.com - Volkswagen AG - The Jetta's interior with its
high-end quality creates a solid bridge to the class above, widening its
lead over the competition. Inside, the new Jetta offers unparalleled
perfection in details and -- as a common conceptual thread --
The silver framed round instruments designed in the style of the new Passat
are positioned for optimum viewing; the multifunction display (trip
computer) is located between them. The new three-spoke steering wheel
design (optional leather-trimmed steering wheel with multifunction keys)
impresses both visually and to the touch. The right hand rests
ergonomically on the gearshift grip. Further up the centre console are the
redesigned and intuitive controls for the climate control and the radio and
radio-navigation systems. This console section is slightly inclined towards
the driver for an ideal alignment of the dashboard that focuses on the
The parking brake lever was also repositioned, freeing up more space on the
right side that is now used for larger cupholders. Numerous storage options
- including an option-dependent centre armrest with large storage box and
special sunglasses holder - all perfect the car's everyday practicality.
More space for driver and front passenger
Despite the flatter roofline, the effective headroom for both driver and
front passenger was also increased to 1,014 mm. Both occupants take their
places on completely redesigned and ergonomically optimised seats that
offer a high level of long-distance travel comfort and ample adjustments
(optional 6-way and 8-way adjustment). The extended wheelbase, now 2,651
mm, enabled a significantly more comfortable layout of the Jetta's 3-person
rear seating area. Consider knee room: it is now a huge 1,046 mm. Headroom
in the rear, at 943 mm, is still on the same good level of the previous
510 litre cargo capacity
Even the base version sports a folding rear bench seatback with a 60/40
split, increasing the car's versatility. The 510 litre boot can be opened
from inside the car by a remote unlock switch (or by unlocking from the
exterior or by the standard wireless remote control). A load-through
provision integrated in the centre armrest (standard from Comfortline)
RoadflyTV - 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Road Test & Review
Roadfly tested the completely updated and redesigned 2011 Volkswagen Jetta
SEL. Major competitors for this German sport sedan include the Toyota
Corolla, Honda Civic, and Mazda3. When reviewing a car like the Jetta one
of the things we look for in the road test is how well the Jetta compares
to others in its class. The relatively inexpensive compact car segment is
crowded to say the least.
Host Emme Hall found the trunk to be plenty spacious, lots of leg room for
rear seated passengers and fun and confident driving characteristics.
Safety equipment includes six standard airbags; ABS; stability control; and
a new crash response system that unlocks the doors, shuts off the fuel
pump, and turns on the hazard lights in the event of an impact.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta roadtest (english subtitled)
Volkswagen claimt dat de nieuwe Jetta veel meer is dan zo maar een
sedanversie van de Golf. Waar hebben we dat eerder gehoord? Hoog tijd dus
om die bewering eens flink tegen het Zuid-Franse licht te houden!

DRIVE Volkswagen Jetta TDI
You don't have to buy a hybrid to get good fuel economy. For enthusiasts
who want to tread lighter, VW offers up the Jetta TDI. Like all modern
diesel engines it's clean, quiet and efficient. Tom Voelk takes a look at
this different way to go green.
2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Full Test
CHECK OUT THE NEW DIESEL JETTA:
For those alternative-fuel-conscious, carbon-conscientious driving
enthusiasts among us, the big news from Volkswagen is electric, mainly
because it has introduced a car that isn't.
The 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Clean Diesel (yep, that's its official name)
is the first diesel-powered new car to be certified for sale across the
entire U.S. — including California and the four states that piggyback
their emissions regulations on the Golden State since they all turned up
their tailpipe-sniffing noses at everyone else in 2006.
So it was probably no mere coincidence that Volkswagen chose Santa Monica,
California, as the site for the introduction of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta
TDI. And as we later tested the Jetta TDI near our Santa Monica office by
driving the Pacific Coast Highway and the canyon roads of Malibu, we were
happy to flaunt this turbodiesel's new
clean-and-green status in the backyard of so many Prius-driving members of
the celebrity set.
