2011 Volkswagen Jetta roadtest (english subtitled)
Volkswagen claimt dat de nieuwe Jetta veel meer is dan zo maar een
sedanversie van de Golf. Waar hebben we dat eerder gehoord? Hoog tijd dus
om die bewering eens flink tegen het Zuid-Franse licht te houden!
2011 Volkswagen Jetta - The interior concept
http://www.eurocarnews.com - Volkswagen AG - The Jetta's interior with its
high-end quality creates a solid bridge to the class above, widening its
lead over the competition. Inside, the new Jetta offers unparalleled
perfection in details and -- as a common conceptual thread --
The silver framed round instruments designed in the style of the new Passat
are positioned for optimum viewing; the multifunction display (trip
computer) is located between them. The new three-spoke steering wheel
design (optional leather-trimmed steering wheel with multifunction keys)
impresses both visually and to the touch. The right hand rests
ergonomically on the gearshift grip. Further up the centre console are the
redesigned and intuitive controls for the climate control and the radio and
radio-navigation systems. This console section is slightly inclined towards
the driver for an ideal alignment of the dashboard that focuses on the
The parking brake lever was also repositioned, freeing up more space on the
right side that is now used for larger cupholders. Numerous storage options
- including an option-dependent centre armrest with large storage box and
special sunglasses holder - all perfect the car's everyday practicality.
More space for driver and front passenger
Despite the flatter roofline, the effective headroom for both driver and
front passenger was also increased to 1,014 mm. Both occupants take their
places on completely redesigned and ergonomically optimised seats that
offer a high level of long-distance travel comfort and ample adjustments
(optional 6-way and 8-way adjustment). The extended wheelbase, now 2,651
mm, enabled a significantly more comfortable layout of the Jetta's 3-person
rear seating area. Consider knee room: it is now a huge 1,046 mm. Headroom
in the rear, at 943 mm, is still on the same good level of the previous
510 litre cargo capacity
Even the base version sports a folding rear bench seatback with a 60/40
split, increasing the car's versatility. The 510 litre boot can be opened
from inside the car by a remote unlock switch (or by unlocking from the
exterior or by the standard wireless remote control). A load-through
provision integrated in the centre armrest (standard from Comfortline)

Volkswagen redesigned the popular Jetta for 2011, and it returns relatively
unchanged for 2012. The sixth-generation sedan features larger dimensions
inside and out, and there's plenty to like.
The Jetta is offered in five trim levels, with four different powerplants.
The base model is the S, which offers a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that makes
115 hp. SE and SEL models are powered by a 170-hp 2.5L 5-cylinder. TDI
Jettas come with Volkswagen's proven 2.0L direct-injection turbodiesel, which is good for 140 hp and 236
ft-lb of torque and 42 mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission is
standard on S, SE and SEL models, while a 6-speed automatic is optional. A
6-speed manual is standard on the TDI, and Volkswagen's slick dual-clutch
automatic manual 6-speed is optional.
To better compete with the pricing of compacts that come from Japan,
Volkswagen trimmed some items that had previously been standard. For
instance, rather than outfitting the Jetta with 4-wheel disc brakes, SE and
SEL models have rear drums. Volkswagen also simplified the options list,
with 18 equipment combinations available.
S models come equipped with standard goodies such as heated power side
mirrors, one-touch up/down power on all four windows, an AM/FM/CD stereo
with MP3 playback, 6-way manual adjustment, air conditioning and a 60/40
split folding rear seat. Jetta SE adds V-Tex leatherette seating, an
armrest and pass-through for the rear seat and cruise control. SEL trims
bring 17-inch alloy wheels, bumper-integrated halogen fog lights, chrome
accents, touch-screen navigation, Bluetooth, heated front seats, interior
leather accents and a multi-function trip computer.
Packaged convenience options for the SE add many of the premium features of
the SEL, including heated seats, a premium audio system, and Bluetooth,
while a sunroof package includes an even more robust touch-screen stereo
system with a 6-disc in-dash CD changer and SD memory card reader, plus a
tinted power sunroof. The sunroof is available on the SEL as well, as is a
sport package that adds a specially tuned suspension, sport seats, and
aluminum trim on the pedals and door trim.
Standard safety equipment on all Jettas includes anti-lock brakes, driver
and front passenger front and side thorax airbags, side curtain airbags,
traction and stability control and engine braking assist.
2011 Volkswagen Jetta First Look from Consumer Reports
The Volkswagen Jetta has been totally redesigned with the hopes of
improving US sales. The Jetta is now roomier inside, but some of what made
the previous generation special seems to be lost.

2012 Volkswagen Jetta SEL Test Drive & Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/volkswagen/jetta/2012/?id=32972 The 2012
Volkswagen Jetta has a ton of competition in the compact sedan segment. But
the Jetta has a few tricks up its sleeve to set is apart from the rest of
the pack. First, Volkswagen is the only non-luxury German automobile
manufacturer. This means you can expect a high level of quality and luxury
in each vehicle Volkswagen produces. Second, the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta has
a very low base price at $15,515 making is one of the least expensive
vehicles in the compact sedan segment. Finally, the Volkswagen Jetta is
produced right here in the Good Old U.S.A. at a plant in Chattanooga,
Tennessee. This is great for those looking to buy automobiles that support
jobs in America.
There are more than 50 different trim levels on the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta.
These include variations on engines, feature packages, and body style
(sedan or wagon). The very base model starts at $15,515 with the SEL seen
here starting at $23,445. The top of the line model is the TDI Wagon with
sunroof and navigation going for $29,220.
The engine choices are plentiful with 4 different engines being offered on
the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The first engine is the most basic. This 2.0
liter 4-cylinder has 115 horsepower and 125 lb-ft. or
torque while getting 24 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. The next
engine up is the 2.5 liter 5-cylinder making 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. of
torque while getting 23 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The next
step up is the turbocharged 2.0 liter
4-cylinder found on many Volkswagen vehicles. This little engine is found
on the GLI trim and puts out 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft. of
torque while averaging 22 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The
last engine is the venerable TDI which is a turbocharged and direct injected diesel engine.
This 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine makes 140 horsepower and a huge 236
lb-ft. of torque while returning 30 MPG in the city and 42 MPG on the
highway. All of these fuel economy figures are with the 6-speed manual
transmission installed. With the Automatic transmission the figures drop
just a bit.
The 2012 Volkswagen Jetta has a ton of usable interior space. In fact the
Jetta seems more like a mid-size than a compact sedan. There is over 3 feet
of rear legroom which according to VW is more than most large sedans. And
with the Wagon model you can get 67 cubic feet of cargo space. There is an
optional seating surface called V-Tex leatherette which looks and feel like
leather but cost much less. The Jetta SEL comes standard with heated front
seats as well. Since the SEL is one of the more expensive trims it does
come loaded with lots of great technology. There sound system is a 400 watt
Fender Stereo with a subwoofer and 8 speakers. A touch screen navigation
system is also standard on the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta SEL.
The Jetta is available in many different trims and configurations so that
there will be a model to suit you. The 2012 Volkswagen Jetta is a great
deal as it is one of the most fuel efficient compact sedans on the market.

VW Jetta: Mit Überraschungs-Potenzial
