Honda NSX Concept at Geneva Motor Show 2012
HONDA NSX CONCEPT
Honda presents the new Honda NSX Concept for the first time in Europe, highlighting the design and technology direction for the next-generation supercar.
The dynamically-styled NSX Concept gives an indication of the next great performance vehicle from Honda. Making use of lightweight materials and a mid-mounted V-6 engine, the NSX Concept employs several new technologies, including an innovative new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system.
Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd, who was part of the development team of Honda's first NSX supercar, recently explained the values of the new NSX, "Like the first NSX, we will again express high performance through engineering efficiency. In this new era, even as we focus on the fun to drive spirit of the NSX, I think a supercar must respond positively to environmental responsibilities."
While most supercars opt for brute force delivered from a large engine, the NSX Concept represents the true racing philosophy of an extremely favourable power-to-weight ratio.
Utilizing a unique 2 Electric Motor Drive Unit with a bilateral torque adjustable control system, the new hybrid all-wheel-drive system can instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering, which Honda anticipates will deliver handling performance unmatched by previous AWD systems. In addition to the handling benefits of the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system, a powerful next-generation VTEC V-6 engine with direct-injection, works in concert with a dual clutch transmission and a third electric traction motor integrated within the transmission housing, to create supercar acceleration while offering outstanding efficiency.
This Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system will make the NSX the ultimate expression of, "the synergy between man and machine," added Ito. "The NSX will make the driver one with the car to enhance dynamic driving abilities without getting in the way."
The new NSX, which is expected to go on sale in the next three years, will be developed by Honda R&D Americas and manufactured in Ohio, USA and is targetted for true sports driving enthusiasts throughout the world.

Highlights
The all-new 2012 Sonic is a small car with a large array of amenities. It is offered in two body styles: a four-door sedan and a five-door, each with distinctive design elements, including motorcycle-inspired round headlamps. Sonic also delivers class-leading rear-seat roominess and connectivity features that enhance the driving experience.
The Sonic is equipped with power-dense four-cylinder engines, including an Ecotec 1.4L turbo, and it is designed to be one of the safest vehicles in the segment, with 10 standard air bags.
Production of the Sonic takes place at the General Motors Orion Assembly Center in Michigan, making it the only subcompact built in the United States. The plant received a $545-million investment in upgrades and retooling, and will help restore approximately 1,000 jobs in the metropolitan Detroit area.
Sonic design
■Two distinct body styles: four-door sedan and five-door.
■A wide, planted stance, with wheels-at-the-corners proportions, conveys performance. Progressive, raked body lines suggest movement even when the car is stationary.
■Motorcycle-inspired round headlamps and taillamps.
■Rear door handles on the five-door are located in a C-pillar area, suggesting the style of a three-door hatch.
■Chrome grille surrounds and matte black honeycomb grille inserts on all models.
■A range of large wheel sizes, including 17-inch alloy wheels.
Sonic interior
Sonic's cabin complements the motorcycle-inspired exterior with a detailed instrument cluster featuring a large, round analog tachometer set within an asymmetrical LCD readout, with a large digital speedometer display.
■The mid-instrument panel surface is available in two colors (dark titanium and brick) and flows seamlessly into the upper doors, with premium low-glass finishes.
■The automatic shift knob has a "cobra head" design, while the manual shifter has a chrome-finished knob.
■Tubular outboard climate outlets protrude from the instrument panel surface.
■The interior includes storage compartments in the center stack and doors.
■The rear seats fold virtually flat for carrying larger items.
■Front bucket seats are standard and heated front seats are available.
Sonic powertrain
Chevrolet Sonic models are powered by efficient, power-dense, small-displacement engines, including the Ecotec 1.4L turbo and the Ecotec 1.8L -- the same engines used in the Chevrolet Cruze. Three transmissions are available: a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic with the 1.8L and a six-speed manual with the 1.4L turbo.
■The Ecotec 1.4L turbo's power ratings are 138 horsepower (103 kW) and 148 lb.-ft. of torque (200 Nm) between 1,850 rpm and 4,900 rpm.
■The wide rpm range for the maximum torque -- a specific trait of turbocharged engines -- helps the engine deliver a better driving experience and performance.
■Premium design elements give the engine world-class smoothness and durability, including a low-mass hollow-frame cast iron block, dual overhead camshafts with variable valve timing, chain-driven cams and roller-finger camshaft followers, piston-cooling oil jets and integrated oil cooler, a variable-flow oil pump and an electronically controlled thermostat.
■The 1.4L's turbocharger is integrated within the Exhaust manifold, for reduced weight and greater packaging flexibility in small vehicles. A reinforced crankshaft and stronger connecting rods deliver additional strength to support the engine's pressurized power and torque over a wide rpm band.
The naturally aspirated Ecotec 1.8L engine has many of the same features of the Ecotec 1.4L turbo.
■It is a compact and durable four-cylinder engine designed for low maintenance, low emissions and fuel efficiency.
■Its two-stage variable intake manifold allows approximately 90 percent of peak torque to be available from 2,400 rpm to 6,500 rpm.
■It is rated at 138 horsepower (103 kW) along with 125 lb.-ft. of torque (170 Nm) at 3,800 rpm.

Chevrolet Sonic Z-Spec 2 at SEMA 2011
LAS VEGAS -- Chevrolet's small cars have a big presence at the 2011 SEMA Show, with tricked-out Sonics and Cruzes showing off the personalization possibilities for a new generation of performance enthusiasts.
Most of the show cars wear conceptual Z-Spec styling enhancements, which are being evaluated for production. Z-Spec is a line of performance, styling, and personalization accessories available at Chevy dealerships.
The Sonic went on sale this fall and the Cruze, while being in the U.S. market for only about a year, has become Chevrolet's best-selling car and the top-selling compact car in the United States calendar year to date. Both cars offer available factory turbocharged powertrains -- with the Sonic offering the only turbo engine in its class.
"The heritage of Chevrolet cars like the Corvette and Camaro is being expressed in smaller packages for the next generation," said Chris Perry, vice president, global marketing and strategy for Chevrolet. "The Sonic and Cruze concepts demonstrate that performance comes in all shapes, sizes and displacements at Chevrolet."
As the only factory turbocharged vehicle in its class and aggressive design, Sonic is ideal for customization and performance -- and that's exactly what the distinctive show cars demonstrate at SEMA. Here's a quick look:
Sonic Z-Spec #1 -- Designers took a turbocharged Sonic five-door and dressed it with concept Z-Spec accessories. They added Z-Spec ground effects, a spoiler, unique grille and graphics package -- then finished it off with a Torch Red exterior and Z-Spec concept 18-inch wheels. Inside, the Cobalt Red cabin features custom trim, including perforated black suede seat inserts, a Z-Spec sport pedal kit, sport shift knob and a racing-style flat-bottom steering wheel. Additional upgrades include performance brakes with four-piston calipers, a new high-flow Exhaust system and performance suspension parts.
Sonic Z-Spec #2 -- The next Sonic concept -- in Flat White with Torch Red accents -- builds on concept Z-Spec accessories with a more aggressive ground effects package, unique grille, rear spoiler and graphics package. It rides on Z-Spec concept 18-inch wheels and also includes a re-trimmed interior with Z-Spec sport pedal kit, Z-Spec sport shift knob and a flat-bottom steering wheel. It also features custom racing seats with the Z-Spec logo. The factory powertrain features the 1.4L turbo engine and six-speed manual transmission. Performance upgrades include brakes with four-piston calipers, a high-flow Exhaust system and suspension parts.
Sonic Z-Spec 4D Concept -- The more formal look of the Sonic sedan lends itself to a touring car-style motif, which this Ashen Grey Metallic concept picks up with concept Z-Spec ground effects, rear spoiler, grille, "Chevrolet" graphics and larger Z-Spec concept 18-inch wheels. As with its five-door counterparts, this Sonic features a re-trimmed interior -- in Dark Titanium with Cobalt Red accents -- Z-Spec sport pedal kit, aluminum sport shift knob and a flat-bottom steering wheel (trimmed with Cobalt Red suede). The factory turbo 1.4L engine and six-speed manual transmission are complemented by performance upgrades that include four-piston caliper brakes, a high-flow Exhaust system and suspension parts.
Sonic Dusk -- The most subtle of the Sonic concepts is the Dusk. It features a Berlin Blue exterior, with a mild concept ground effects package, unique grille treatment and 18-inch concept wheels in dark Galvano Silver. Even the lights are tinted blue for a sophisticated statement. The Mojave leather interior has custom seat inserts, Z-Spec shift knob with satin chrome trim, Z-Spec sport pedals and accessory interior trim kit. The Sonic Dusk also features a suede-trimmed, flat-bottom steering wheel, custom audio system and brake and suspension upgrades.
Chevrolet is keeping a few super-secret Sonics under wraps until the SEMA show, each representing an even higher level of performance and personalization.
Cool Cruzes
A pair of custom Cruze sedans demonstrates what is possible with conceptual accessories and a little creativity.
Cruze Z-Spec -- Wearing concept Z-Spec ground effects, 18-inch custom wheels, an accessory spoiler and a high-flow grille, the Cruze Z-Spec has the looks and feel of a taut touring car. The exterior appearance of this Cruze is enhanced with a new stripe package that will be available soon, while on the inside are special seat inserts, a racing-style pedal kit, accessory shift knob and interior trim, as well as a new steering wheel.
Cruze Dusk -- Complementing the Sonic Dusk concept, the Cruze Dusk suggests a more subtle and sophisticated approach to personalization, including a mild concept ground effects package, a unique grille treatment and dark-tinted wheels. The interior has custom seat inserts, along with an accessory shift knob, sport pedals, interior trim kit, a suede-trimmed steering wheel and a custom audio system.

2012 Ford Police Interceptor Concept Video
New 2012 Ford Police Interceptor Concept. Ford will release more info on the car by 2011 and it may replace the Crown Vic with this in 2012. Ford may add this to there lineup of police cars with the new Taurus. The car includes a powered clamshell "shaker" hood, which covers the engine. The fullsize sedan is based on a stretched version of the rear wheel drive Mustang's Ford D2C platform, featuring a solid rear axle. The body is proportioned with short front overhang and a long rear overhang, and features a low roof line and a high belt line, when compared to other Ford sedans like the Ford Taurus, with a wedged profile. 2012 SONIC TRANSMISSION CHOICES.wmv
You've seen the engines, now look at what puts the power to the road. The ALL NEW 2012 Chevrolet Sonic has some great transmission choices to suit every driver...
2012 Chevrolet Sonic! More fun than Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit, and the NIssan Versa!!
We would put the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic up against anyone's small compact. With a ride engineered from the guys who brought the new Corvette, this car has some serious get up and go. It has more horsepower than the competition and one of the most enjoyable suspensions we've experienced in a car this inexpensive. The steering is light and communicates road feel extremely well, but still maintains a luxurious isolation from the road!! The Ford Fiesta can't beat the horsepower or driving dynamics. The Nissan Versa can't compete in quality of materials. The Honda Fit can't compete in standard and available equipment.
Which reminds us...the Chevrolet Sonic has tons of standard equipment and options that aren't offered on the competition. Remote Start is available--again, remote start is available on an economy, efficiency car!! Gone are the days when you didn't even get power locks or a key fob. The Aveo is gone, and Chevrolet is rolling out high-tech in every vehicle.
