2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ
General Motors yanked back the sheets on its newest sub-compact from Chevrolet; the 2012 Sonic. The five-door hatch and four-door sedan models will be available with either a standard 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine or an optional turbo'd 1.4-liter mill that can be ordered up with either a five-speed manual trans or a six-speed slushbox. At the time of the unveiling, GM was mum on the Sonic's estimated miles per gallon rating but The General is now ready to talk a little mpg. The automaker is saying that the 2012 subcompact Sonic will achieve up to 40 mpg highway when it hits the market this fall. Though none of the numbers have been finalized by the EPA, GM's projected mileage figures seem highly likely considering that the Sonic packs the same powertrains as the heftier Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze, which is rated at 24/36 mpg city/highway, obviously outweighs the Sonic and, therefore, we expect it to be the less fuel efficient vehicle of the two. For the sake of comparison, the outgoing Aveo, equipped with a manual trans, achieved an EPA rating of 25/35 mpg city/highway. The Sonic's 40-mpg rating would place it on par with the Ford Fiesta and ahead of both the Honda Fit and the Toyota Yaris

2014 Ford Fiesta vs Chevy Sonic Turbo vs the Ike Gauntlet Mashup Review ( Part 1)
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2014 Ford Fiesta and Chevy Sonic turbo are small economy cars that almost directly compete. Of course the difference is that the Fiesta is normally aspirated while the sonic has a small turbo. How does this effect a cars performance when the road gets steep, the altitude get hight and the car is loaded to the rafters with with people? From Dillion, Colorado to the Eisenhower Tunnel U.S. I-70 climbs 8 miles to a maximum elevation of 11,158 feet or 3,401 meters. That's enough elevation and grade to test a small economy car like the 2014 Ford Fiesta and the Chevy Sonic turbo. In Part 1 of another accurate, informative and fun TFLcar mashup review Nathan, Emme, Andre and Roman take on the Ike Gauntlet in the new Chevy Sonic turbo to see how these small cars handle the steep grade and lack of air density in the Mountains of Colorado. Good Acceptable Marginal Poor Test details: The Chevrolet Sonic was introduced in the 2012 model year as a replacement for the Chevrolet Aveo. Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. The driver side curtain airbag deployed during the crash. After the dummy moved forward into the frontal airbag, its head contacted the side curtain airbag. Injury measures — Measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag, indicating that head injuries would be possible.
