Jimi Day's 1969 AMC AMX
I was lucky enough to write the feature on Jimi Day's 1969 AMC AMX for
Popular Hot Rodding magazine, and the car was just a few spots over from
mine at the 2012 Detroit AutoRama. So I created this video feature on the
car to let Jimi tell you about it firsthand!
1969 AMC AMX: AMXess -- /BIG MUSCLE
When the American Motors Corporation (AMC) released the AMX back in 1969
the motoring world didn't know what to make of it. It had two seats like a
sports car, a solid live axle and a raucous V8 like a muscle car, and
styling that could've gone either way. Owner Jimi Day has been a long time
fan of the AMX so when he got the opportunity to construct his own he
pulled out all the stops, went buck-ass wild, and built what is arguably
one of the best AMX's on the planet Earth.

700 HP Supercharged 1969 AMC AMX Street Legal Drag Car
I thought you'd like a look at this very mean 1969 AMC AMX muscle car. This
AMX is far from stock...it's powered by a 355 Small-block Chevy topped with
a 6-71 Weiand Supercharger and dual
Demon four barrel carbs. All that power is sent through a turbo 350 automatic with a 3800 stall converter,
back to a narrowed Dana 60 Rear with 4:10 gears and a ladder bar set-up.
This car is running between 12-14 PSI of Boost and puts out around 700 HP. It also has
a 6 pt roll cage, racing buckets, racing harnessed, and a full set of
gauges. This car is ready to blast down the street or strip. Thanks for
taking a look!

Instruments: Guitar, Bass, Kit, Organ, EP
With a jumping bass and off-beat syncopation, this is straight from
Memphis' Beale Street. The Hammond organ and electric guitar play together
as longtime friends, while the melody changes hands from guitar to organ to
electric piano. 011
