I traded my red 1961 F100 for this car in December. I liked the truck but it was so difficult to drive. No power steering, brakes, or A/C. So here I have a very cool cruiser. Leaving it mostly stock, no loud mufflers or go fast bolt ons except for the HEI ignition and Edelbrock intake and carburator.

Old Race Car First Start - 1968 Pontiac Lemans Stock Car Lives Again!
I picked up this old roundyround race car from a buddies wrecking yard. It was cheap, my parents are pissed it's in the back yard, nothing is new.
Norm Brill was the driver, I have no idea who he is so I'm going to assume he went out in a blaze of glory having a shootout with the cops while drunk, naked and high on PCP, leaving his race car in the weeds lost to time.
It's a 1968 Pontiac Lemans, the same body as the GTO and Tempest from what I understand. The engine is either a 400 or a 350 V8, it had air conditioning and power steering, possibly a limited slip rear differential but I haven't had a chance to check. The carburetor is a 2 throat unit.
It pained me to see it crushed and sent to China like the Nova stock car that was beside it, so I saved it, and now ya'll can enjoy it! Sorry the audio isn't better, it sounds really good in person because the mufflers fell off but it's more than my phone's microphone can handle. The engine sounds very tight and any smoke is likely from the nasty gas I filtered and ran through it.
I also show the old lettering on the car, but it's only because it's neat. I'm not a race driver and have no sponsorship from the names listed, if they are even in business any more I'd be surprised.
It's just a cool ol' muscle car!
Edit: Man this is taking a while to upload. The bent fan and nerfed crank pulley happened when it was moved at the wrecking yard before I got it. I can fix the pulley, but the fan is toast. It'll be replaced before it takes out the water pump. The radiator is junk, it's leaking and I have a large 1ton truck radiator I'll put in it's place, possibly with an electric fan, maybe mounted in the trunk and ducted. I'd sorta like to get fenderwell headers for it like the ratrod has. Will have to look around at the swapmeet....man...this is slow...I like Reddit? Ya'll like reddit? It's neat. Yup...Ooh, I should post this to carporn or something. Oh man, almost done...go...go little bar, you can do it! Oh to heck with it, I'mna go get a beer.
Edit 2: Aw man, it went backwards...was at 100, then went to 95...god, now I just feel like a girl writing in her diary about stupid stuff. Like, oh my gawd becky, did you SEE the percentages on that video? I kno rite? Oh, I know, hey you should check out huskystarcraft if you like video games, starcraft II Wings of Liberty in particular. That Husky guy is pretty cool, the music videos are rad. I may have a straw hat and smell like narsty gasoline and durt but I'm a nerd at heart and I still play with cars! Oh hey it's done I think...neat.
1970 Pontiac Lemans Sport
Just a quick video of me pulling my car out of the parking lot.. It's a 1970 Pontiac Lemans Sport with the original 350 engine, TH 350 transmission, and the original 10 bolt peg leg rear end. It has 81,000 original miles. It went through a frame off restoration recently in which evrything was powder coated. It also sports a new paint job and a GTO hood. It also has some not original stuff which includes a holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary carburetor, edelbrock aluminum intake, and Pypes 2.5" stainless steel x-pipes with low restriction mufflers. Unfortunately I'm missing the rear Pontiac emblem on the trunk lid does anyone know where I can find one, Ive tried year one and performance years but its not remade. The noise at 2:28 is because I hit the steering lock nothing serious. I didnt push on it too hard because the powertrain is 40 years old and in really good shape and I'd like it to last. This is not a trailer queen or a museum piece thats never driven. I drive it as much as possible because its meant to be enjoyed. If you like old muscle cars and would like to get into the hobby the Lemans is still relatively inexpensive and can be dressed up to look like a GTO. This car is my pride and joy and I hope to never sell it so please enjoy.
