This is the story of a '66 Buick Special convertible that had been abandoned in Arizona in 1978 by the family of Rick Pewe, editor of 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine. In 2011, the guys from HOT ROD Magazine, in conjunction with Rick, spent four days bringing the car back from the dead with plans to drive it home from Phoenix to Los Angeles. YouTube's largest collection of automotive variety! In today's video, we will take an up close and personal in depth look at the understated muscle car of the late 80s, the Buick Grand National, this one specifically the Regal T-Type. The GN and the T-Type are identical except for badging and interior trim. It wasn't until you stepped it on up to the GNX did you get the truly different package (which I will explain in the video). The GN is arguably the most menacing looking buick of all time with it's black monochrome paint scheme and turbo charged 3.8 V6 pumping out amazing performance numbers for the time period, even today! A unique experience to be able to check out one of these beasts. During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and Exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. It's not drop dead gorgeous like a 1959 Impala, nor does it have the panache of say a 1956 Chrysler 300. You see the '55 Buick Special was a working mans car. It had room enough for the whole family, a decent power-plant thanks to its 264 cubic inch V8, and style that was, well... above average. Harry Fisher or "Uncle Harry" as most people know him, saw the old Buick a bit differently though. He knew that with a few little touches (like a 502 cubic inch big-block, modern suspension, and a new set of wheels) that this old Buick had the potential to become one of the baddest hot-rods around.

Friday night drag racing at QUALCOMM stadium 1/8 mile not a buick grand national color but a turbocharged buick.RaceLegal, the safer and sanctioned track alternative to illegal street racing, was developed with one goal in mind. Saving the needless loss of young lives to an illegal street race gone bad is RaceLegal's mantra. To that end we have been remarkably effective. The concept was one of providing a youth oriented environment in a neutral and centrally located location where we could replicate a street environment, but with safer and sanctioned conditions that insured the safety of our racers and their fans. The under pinning is one of skillfully redirecting illegal street racing behavior to the safer and sanctioned sport of drag racing in a youth oriented setting. As sated above, the results are impressive.Running an Event like this with every inch of my Heart and Soul is very Overwhelming apparently when mechanical failure set in on the Veilside RX7 and I got blinded by striving to have it limp down the track once with a blown headgasket to give tribute to the Memorial and failed to give more than a handful of ridealongs when I had a perfectly sound 600hp turbod Lexus IS300 and Insane Supra, I apologize and feel like I let down the 50 or so passengers that didnt get to ride in the Veilside, I really did try my best with everything going on and am Very greatful for all the Race Legal Event Staff Coordinators and all of the 40+ friends that showed up to Honor and support Paul and the Awareness towards ROWW than I have dedicated every inch of my mind, body, and soul into for the last 3 weeks. So thank you Everyone, I have a few thousand pictures to post after I go through them and dedicate only the most memorable to the Cause as well as the coverage by Channel 5 News and Channel 10, I will continue to raise donations for Paul's Vision and am working on a Drift Tribute to where I know beyond a doubt my passionate soul will exonerate any doubt of my personal pridefulness towards my efforts put into the Universe for this tremendous Cause. For all of those who don't know, my parents have never supported my racing career and they came out to this event to Honor Paul and ROWW and where my Heart lays right now and said for the first time in 27 years, "Son, we are very proud of You." The universe even went as far as to have my scared Mother ride passenger in my Lexus smoking the tires to the ground for over a solid minute of Tribute as I had one hand on the wheel and the other around her shoulder saying how much I loved her as the smoke engulfed the stadium and my car and buried all emotional doubts to this cause in my soul! Even Sahar Mohammadian was afraid to ride after hearing about Paul's accident and how even the most sound of vehicles and professional of Racers have accidents, but yet she dedicated a few runs in my car with me as passenger at the Midnight hour in an emotional connection towards our loss of a Fallen Angel....
