2012 NISSAN Sentra - NISSAN Intelligent Key®
Nissan Intelligent Key® (if so equipped) The Nissan Intelligent Key® is an alternative to your regular vehicle key. With the Intelligent Key in your pocket or purse, you can lock or unlock your doors and the trunk-- and start the engine. To unlock the vehicle, push this Request Switch on the door handle. That door will now unlock. Push the switch again within one minute, to unlock all doors. To unlock the trunk independently, push the trunk REQUEST switch just above the license plate for longer than a second. If you leave the Intelligent Key inside the trunk when all doors are locked, as soon as you close the trunk a warning chime will sound and the trunk will open. To lock your vehicle, push any door handle's Request Switch once. These lock and unlock functions will work when you are within about 2 ½ feet of the vehicle. To operate the engine with the Intelligent Key, just push in on the ignition switch and turn to the ON position. The Intelligent Key is also equipped with all the functions of the Remote Keyless Entry system for operating door locks. For full details, please go to the Remote Keyless Entry Chapter. To prevent accidentally locking your key inside the vehicle, your Intelligent Key has lockout protection. If you exit with the Intelligent key inside, it will unlock all doors immediately and sound a warning chime as soon as you close the door. In a rare instance when either your vehicle battery or your Intelligent Key battery is discharged, your Intelligent Key contains a Mechanical key. To remove it, release the LOCK Knob on the back of the Intelligent Key. To start the engine with the mechanical key, you'll find there is a concealed key slot in the center of the Ignition switch. Push the key against it to insert, and turn to start. Your keyfob can also be used to adjust the horn beep feature. Please refer to your Owner's Manual for complete information on adjusting this feature. The Intelligent Key contains sensitive electrical components. Please avoid these circumstances that could affect its operation: -Avoid dropping or striking it against another object. -Keep away from water. -Keep away from computers, cell phones, TVs and audio equipment with magnetic fields. -Avoid using a key chain that contains a magnet.
