Mazda 787B 2011 Le Mans' Demo Run
The legendary Mazda 787B, 1991 24-Hour Le Mans winner, will return to the Circuit de la Sarthe from 11 - 12 June for a demonstration parade. The demonstration also commemorates the four-rotary 787B machine's 20th anniversary victory at the world's most demanding endurance race, the Le Mans 24 Hours.

2011年10月9日に広島フェスティバル･アウトレット･マリーナホップ駐車場にて｢モーターフェスティバル HIROSHIMA 2011｣というイベントが行われました。 ル･マン優勝20周年を記念して、今年ル･マンに787B55号車招待されて走る事なり、マツダミュージアムで眠っていた787B復活させてフランスのル･マンを走りました。20年間眠っていてもバッチリとメンテナンスをされて走った787Bは現役そのものでした。今まで55号車はミュージアムにて永久保存という形で、787Bが走る機会と言えば別の耐久レースで使用された202号車、またはレプリカが走っていたので、今回走っている55号車を見るのは最初で最後ないだろうか？と思い行きました。その走りはとても美しく、そして奏でる音はまさしく神様の楽器だなと思いました。レースにかけた人達の結晶というのはこんなに美しいものなんだなと思います。 動画は午前の部と午後の部の走行映像を繋げました。

Warming up in the Cathederal Paddock on Sunday morning 3rd July 2011. Loud? I've stood next to plenty of F1 cars and this was certtainly no quieter. Although it has only a 9000rpm max engine speed, with 12 combustion cycles PER REVOLUTION (unlike a 4 stroke V12 whihc would only have 6) this car produces 108,000 combustion cycles per minute. That is 36,000 more than a current 2.4l F1 car at 18000rpm! This is the only real running 787B, there is however a second car which sports the same detailing (even down to Le Mans 1991 driver names) which is in much better (less faded, and less battle scars) whihc is used as a PR car. This car was a static display on the Mazda Cars UK stand also at Goodwood that day. Enjoy!
