Scion FR-S Tuner Challenge - Drag Racing Challenge

http://www.tunerchallenge.ca - The Scion Canada FR-S Tuner Challenge teams are back for the Drag Racing Challenge! The three Scion FR-S Tuner Challenge teams meet up at Mission Raceway drag strip, one of Canada's most recognized drag racing facilities, to battle it out on the 1/4 mile. This competition will showcase the modified Tuner Challenge Scion FR-S, all powered with very different engine modifications. Armed with a Supercharger and a bottle of Nitrous, the Top Tuner team will have to face the steep competition from team VCMC and their turbocharger. For Swag Racing, the engine remains naturally aspirated, supported with a series of custom modifications. For this particular challenge, the absence of Boost will put a serious handicap on the Quebec team who will have to rely on incredible launches and a little luck to make up for the lack of power. Is the power efficiency of a turbo the best way to win a drag racing competition in a Scion FR-S or is the linear power delivery of a Supercharger mixed with a shot of Nitrous a better combination? Or could the reliability of a naturally aspirated Scion FR-S prove to be the way to go. Scion FR-S Tuner Challenge - The Endurance Challenge
Endurance Challenge: Drama until the very end. Complete details on http://www.tunerchallenge.ca. The time has come for the final event of the Scion Tuner Challenge - the Endurance Challenge. As the name suggests, this was going to be one demanding day for the Scion Tuner Challenge teams, testing the durability of each team's Scion FR-S in heated battle competition. With valuable points on the line and Top Tuner leading Team VCMC by three points, either of these teams could come out on top and win the Scion FR-S they have spent two years of development and countless hours building. The competition didn't take long for drama to kick in. During one of the first practice laps, the Top Tuner car hit the wall while exiting the last corner of the track, while going sideways and bent a control arm. Not the start the team was looking for. Compounding problems for Top Tuner, during the Time Attack the supercharged and Nitrous equipped Top Tuner FR-S suddenly started puffing a large cloud of white smoke. The engine had lost all of its oil! Meanwhile, Babu from Swag Racing team was quite right to be optimistic about the Endurance Challenge that was ahead. For this last round of the Scion FR-S Tuner Challenge, the three teams were facing off in three different events in the same day. The Drag Racing, Time Attack Challenge and the Drifting competition were to be held in one single race day. ''We had an amazing time participating in the Scion Tuner Challenge. Wherever we went we had fun. The Scion FR-S is the most amazing vehicle I ever got to play with." Richard Basford's team VCMC had prepared the car to its best and were going to give their 100% in the competition in order to maximize the possibilities of gaining points. Did the competition end the way the team was hoping? "We had a nice event on the east coast at CSCS and it was pleasant to take part in it" concluded Basford. 2014 Scion Racing Contingency Program
http://www.scion.ca/racing - Building on the success of the Scion Racing Contingency Program in 2013, Scion Canada is excited to announce the launch of the 2014 program with a newly enhanced payout structure. In a significant change, payouts will now be awarded for not only performing well, but also for the level of participation. Through the Scion Racing Contingency Program, Scion owners can pursue their passion of motorsports by competing in a series of sanctioned closed course events like autoslalom, time attack, racing series and drifting. The program enables Scion owners to showcase their vehicles and driving skills in a safe, regulated environment. In 2013, thirteen participants from across Canada received payouts from the program with four reaching the maximum of $4,000. This year, drivers can claim up to five first-place finishes where they can earn between $100 and $800, depending on the series. For participation, payouts range from $40 to $350 per race. Drivers can claim participation payments for up to five races.
