2011 Audi Trimaran Concept
A new concept from Audi. -Info- The Audi Trimaran is a motorboat concept developed at the company's design studio in Munich by Stefanie Behringer from Pforzheim Technical College. Among the features are two jet skis integrated in the yacht structure. Officially presented by Audi, the Trimaran Concept features a design based on the brand's values. From the official Press Release: It integrates two jet skis in a motorboat. The hull architecture is based on a trimaran, consisting of a main center hull supported by two smaller outrigger hulls. Two jet skis are stored inside pods in the outriggers. The main boat is powered by two lightweight and efficient Audi TDI diesel engines, whereas the jet skis are electrically-driven. At low speeds of up to 8 knots, for example in bays or harbors, the boat can be moved using the jet ski engines alone, which produce no emissions or noise. At higher speed up to 30 knots, the two diesel engines can be switched on continuously. During this process the electric motors in the jet skis support the diesel engines while accelerating, so that the boat is planing faster and less fuel is needed. At the same time the diesel engines recharge the batteries in the two jet skis. As designer Stefanie Behringer explains, "The main advantage of multihulls is efficiency. "This is due to the very slender hulls, which have less friction resistance in the water. Furthermore multihulls have very stable driving characteristics and lie at anchor very calmly." The boat is 15m long and, due to its slender center hull, is only 6.40m wide. The jet ski drive concept allows you to go even into shallow water, because the draft is only 58 cm. On deck there is space for 12 people, while below the boat offers four berths. By flipping down the saloon table, another two berths can be offered. The boat has an athletic, elegant appearance without being too powerful or aggressive. The main proportions of the exterior follow the graceful character of a sailing yacht, emphasized by the mesh surfaces within the outriggers and the shape of the main hull, which narrows to the back. The silver frame, which links the outrigger pods with the main hull, accentuates the technical aspect of Audi and is reminiscent of the aluminum frame structures of automotive engineering. The jet skis follow the elegant and light appearance of the main boat. The high side walls prevent spraying water, while the storage in the front gives space for equipment like a snorkel, fins or shopping from the mainland. The suspended seating bench offers excellent driving comfort. The deck area is the place for relaxation and meeting together. As the opposite pole of the more technical and emotional exterior, the deck area design is based on very calm and puristic shapes, reminiscent of a typical lounge character. Between the two spacious seating benches, which grow out of the large sun lounger surfaces from the back, a table can be moved out of the floor. The huge panorama glass roof does not only shield the passengers from headwinds, but can also work as sun protection when shaded.

Designed by Rob Innes and Dan Piazza of the American company Innespace it is the production model of the single-seat Innespace Dolphin. The concept came from VASH (variable attitude submersible hydrofoil), which was invented by Thomas "Doc" Rowe[1] and Dennis "Dusty" Kaiser in 1987 with his boat, Noland Won.[2][3] The two seat vessel is powered by an Atkins Rotary Marine engine coupled to a Hurth V-drive transmission. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innespace_Seabreacher The Seabreacher mini shark submarine - cool. A midget submarine is any submarine under 150 tons[citation needed], typically operated by a crew of one or two but sometimes up to 6 or 8, with little or no on-board living accommodation. Midget submarines normally work with mother ships, from which they are launched and recovered, and which provide living accommodation for the crew and other support staff. Both military and civilian midget submarines have been built. Military types work with surface ships and other submarines as mother ships. Civilian and non-combatant military types are generally called submersibles, and normally work with surface ships. Most early submarines, such as the United States Navy's USS Holland (SS-1) and the British Royal Navy's Holland 1, would now be considered midget submarines. Most German midget submarines were developed late in World War II in an attempt to stop the Allied invasion of Europe and used later to disrupt its supply lines. As a result, the submarines mostly engaged in open water attacks rather than harbour penetration. [1] Biber (324 built by AG Weser of Bremen)[2] Delphin (2 built) 2-man 5-ton torpedo with top speed of 20 knots (37 km/h) and submerged radius of 30 nautical miles (56 km) at 3 knots (5.6 km/h).[2] Hai (midget submarine) prototype of improved Marder.[2] Hecht type XXVIIA 2-man 12 ton submarine with 1 mine or 1 torpedo carried outboard to a range of 38 miles at 4 knots.[3] Marder (~300 built) similar to Neger with breathing apparatus to allow submerged operation.[2] Molch Completely electric motordriven WWII (1944--1945) Midget submarine. Total 393 built. Neger (~200 built) 1-man 5-ton torpedo with underslung G7E torpedo. Top speed 20 knots and range of 30 miles at 3 knots.[2] Orca class post-war swimmer delivery vehicle Seehund type XXVIIB[4] Most successful midget submarine in the Kriegsmarine. Operational deployment was between January 1945 -- April 1945. V.80 4-man 76-ton prototype completed in 1940 to test Walther geared turbine propulsion system. Range was 50 nautical miles (93 km) at 28 knots (52 km/h).[5] A submersible is a small vehicle designed to operate underwater. The term submersible is often used to differentiate from other underwater vehicles known as submarines, in that a submarine is a fully autonomous craft, capable of renewing its own power and breathing air, whereas a submersible is usually supported by a surface vessel, platform, shore team or sometimes a larger submarine. In common usage by the general public, however, the word submarine may be used to describe a craft that is by the technical definition actually a submersible. There are many types of submersibles, including both manned and unmanned craft, otherwise known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs.[1] Submersibles have many uses worldwide, such as oceanography, underwater archaeology, ocean exploration, adventure, equipment maintenance/recovery or underwater videography. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submersible

2020 Volkswagen Aqua Hovercraft Concept
A new concept from Volkswagen. -Info- The Volkswagen Aqua is a futuristic hovercraft concept created by Yuhan Zhang, a 21 year old designer from China. Yuhan just graduated with honors from Xihua University with a degree in Industrial Design. Currently she's in the process of selecting a Transportation Design course to further her studies. The Volkswagen Aqua is designed to cope with the wide variety of terrain which covers China. From the lakes, rivers and coastal waters, to the roads, wetlands and snow and ice. The concept was shortlisted in the CDN Car Design Awards China, based on the brief entitled simply; "Chinese off-road vehicle" by Volkswagen. Like most hovercraft, the Volkswagen Aqua uses more than one engine. The primary motor, which is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, is used to drive the main fan which inflates the skirt around the vehicle and raises the Aqua just above the ground. The fans at the rear of the vehicle are powered by individual electric motors to provide forward thrust and directional control. The styling of the Volkswagen Aqua is extremely clean and simple. There's very little clutter to the lines, except perhaps at the rear due to the quartet of fans. The interior has room for two people, and features a similar minimalist vibe as the exterior. Perhaps our only area of concern is with how you actually enter the vehicle. See that small round hatch at the rear of the vehicle, the one located where the rear window would normally be? That's your one and only door.
