Blown engine on 08 STI Subaru
MODS Before My engine Blew: Catted Down Pipe, Cat back Exhaust, Cold air intake, 91 octane, and Cobb Access Port. Launched it at 6200 RPM's with a half of court low on oil. 30 Min. later it sounded Like a Lawn Mower. 271 WHP on a MustangDyno. I had 417 WHP on my EVO 8 and never had a problem with the stock internals. Open to suggestions on a rebuild kit. Was looking at doing The AMS rebuild kit with no crankshaft, Blouch 20g xt, 800 cc injectors, exedy clutch & flywheel, valve springs etc., and E85 Tune. Expecting 380 WHP on a MustangDyno. 400 WHO On a 1000 cc Injectors. Whats cost on labor for this?
Subaru EJ25 Engine Pull
Pulling the EJ25 out of my 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS with 196,000 miles. I was a little behind on my maintenance and didn't change the timing belt in time. While the belt was just fine, the idler sprocket bearing pack gave out and this slacked the belt enough to damage the engine. It was cheaper to get another engine than to get the parts to rebuild the heads.
By the way, in the video I say that too much oxygen leans the combustion and my brother counters that too much oxygen makes it rich. I'm right, and he's wrong. Too much oxygen leans and too much fuel makes it rich.
Project Import: 2005 Subaru STi Piston Failure
Commentary in the video is wrong, car is a 2005, not 2006. Customer got this car used a few years back. Just shy of 100k miles, car was going through quarts of oil like nothing. We took it apart and found this. No CEL or anything.....
Engine rebuild part 1
We are rebuilding a GM 350 5.7 engine. Now in this particular case we are also going to upgrade the engine to a 383 6.0 This is called building a "stroker" motor. In other words we are increasing the "stroke" of the engine which increased the torq & horsepower.
If you are able & wanting to rebuild an engine, this video should give you a good overview of what to do. If you are having someone else build an engine for you, you will be able to see what's involved in the process
