2015 BMW (F15) X5 M50d (381hp) - DRIVE & SOUND (1080p)
This week I present to you the full Drive & Sound with the all new
2014/2015 BMW (F15) X5 M50d powered by the awesome Tri-turbo R6 Diesel delivering 381 hp and a whopping
740 Nm of torque. Similar to the M550d in which I had tested that engine
before the Tri-turbo plays out its
strength on the Autobahn by gaining speed as if wind-resistance and weight
were not existing. And its a really good engine for this amazing new X5!
It's probably not a real sports car (similar to the M550d) but the high
torque fits even better to this comfortable and settled SUV. Still
cornering and quick overtaking is possible making this feel half a tone
lighter than the Range Rover Sport with SDV6, yet being not quite as
luxurious. This particular car comes in a "standard" white paint and also
features the standard 19 inch wheels, which I personally would replace with
larger (especially wider) ones. Not sure if standard for the M50d or not
but BMW's adaptive LEDs are awesome. Actually I could think of the new X6
M50d (F16) being my car sometime in the future;) Please make sure to LIKE /

BMW Reveals the X5 M
Get all the info at TheAutoChannel.com. The BMW X5 M (and the BMW X6 M)
sets new standards in this segment of high-performance models in terms of
acceleration, lateral dynamics, steering behaviour, stopping power, and
efficiency. The vehicle accelerates to 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.7
seconds and it stands out not only through the truly impressive delivery of
power by the V8 turbo engine providing
maximum torque of 680 Newton-metres or 501 lb-ft in the broad speed range
between 1,500 and 5, 650 rpm, but also through the likewise smooth and
consistent build-up of lateral forces meeting the highest requirements and
the most dynamic level of performance in bends.
First Drive: 2015 BMW X5 M - 575 hp - Good exhaust sound!
The new M TwinPower turbo engine for the
BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M is the most powerful unit ever developed by BMW for
an all-wheel-drive vehicle. Boasting innovative M TwinPower turbo technology with a pair of TwinScroll turbochargers, cross-bank Exhaust manifolds, VALVETRONIC and High
Precision Direct Petrol Injection, the 4.4-litre V8 produces maximum output
of 423 kW/575 hp between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm. That represents a four per
cent increase over the predecessor models. The step up is even clearer when
it comes to the power development of the new engine. Peak torque has been
Boosted by 70 Nm (52 lb-ft), which
equates to a rise of 10 per cent. Its 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) can be enjoyed
across a broad rev range between 2,200 and 5,000 rpm.
At the same time, fuel consumption of the new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M in the
EU cycle has been cut by 20 per cent – from 13.9 l/100 km(20.3 mpg imp)
to 11.1 l/100 km (25.5 mpg imp). CO2 emissions are likewise down by more
than 20 per cent, to 258 g/km. The two models accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h
(62 mph) in 4.2 seconds through the standard eight- speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
With their striking use of forms, the new BMW X5 M clearly flag up their
sporting ambitions. With their exteriors painted fully in body colour, both
models cut a low-slung figure on the road, while mixed tyres showcase their
sporty track width and lend extra credence to their premium perception.
Additional exterior design modifications, moreover, elevate the
M models even further than before from the standard BMW X5. Large air
intakes at the front end, side gills with a model badge and Air Breathers,
signature M exterior mirrors in twin-stalk style, a typically M
four-tailpipe Exhaust system give them
a standalone look M fans will immediately recognise. Setting the seal on
this exclusive range of features are M-specific 20-inch light-alloy wheels
with mixed tyres or forged 21-inch M light-alloy wheels (optional).
The high-quality interior impresses with its well-thought-through
combination of sporty features, exclusive materials and flawless
workmanship. The M instrument cluster, M leather steering wheel with
aluminium gearshift paddles and M gearshift lever – which works in the
same way as the familiar M Double Clutch Transmission – are complemented
by electrically operated M sports seats for the driver and front passenger,
an M driver’s footrest and the optional Head-Up Display which, in
addition to the standard system, also includes an M-specific display with
gear indicator, rev band and shift lights.
New BMW X5 M customers also have the choice between various options
exclusive to the M models, such as 21-inch M light-alloy wheels, Merino
full-leather trim and M multifunction seats. And there’s also a choice of
two new and exclusive M paint finishes.

BMW X5 Cold Weather Testing Sweden 10 / 13
The BMW E70 automobile platform is the development name for the current X5
SAV/SUV. It replaced the BMW E53 in November 2006. The new generation BMW
X5 is 60 mm (2.4 in) wider, 165 mm (6.5 in) longer; with a 110 mm (4.3 in)
longer wheelbase, but remains at the height of the previous generation X5
at 1766 mm (69.5 in). It is manufactured alongside the new, 2008 BMW X6 at
BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant in the USA. The xDrive AWD system
updates previewed in the facelifted X3 have continued with further detail
improvements for the E70.
The E70 features many new technological advancements for this class as
standard equipment including BMW's iDrive system, electronic 'joystick'
gearshift (no mechanical connection to the gearbox to win space in the
console), LED taillamps, and options such as head-up display HUD, active
steering, and active damping.
The interior of the new, larger, X5 is completely new. It has a large
center-mounted display screen and the simplified iDrive, a man-machine
interface system also found in the rest of the BMW model range. The E70
further incorporates many comfort options such as a glass panorama-roof,
and, for the first time in a BMW, an optional third row seat which has
increased the seating capacity in E70 to 7 passengers, addressing criticism
of the E53 model which had been regarded as being slightly too small for
this market segment.
The E70 is also the first production vehicle to use FlexRay, a new
extremely fast electrical bus system; it is only used for the control of
the chassis damping system. The new 'joy-stick'-style electronic
space-saving shifter has since been adopted in the new 2008 BMW 5 Series.
There was disappointment that neither the BMW night-vision system nor the
radar-controlled cruise-control were offered at job-1.
The E70 has also incorporated two new engines to the X5 lineup. BMW has
begun a shift of replacing engines from the 2006 7-Series. The E70 will
adopt the powertrains that were launched with the X6 coming in spring 2008.

2015 BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M
BMW has officially unveiled the 2015 X5 M and X6 M, ahead of their debut at
the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Looking downright menacing, the high-performance crossovers have an
aggressive front bumper, a revised grille and aerodynamic side skirts. The
models also have ventilated front fenders, aerodynamic side mirrors and
21-inch lightweight alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport UHP tires.
The sporty styling continues out back as there's a distinctive rear bumper
and a diffuser which is flanked by a four-tailpipe sports Exhaust system.
The styling changes continue in the cabin as the models have Merino leather
sport seats, a revised instrument cluster and a leather-wrapped M steering
wheel with aluminum gearshift paddles. Other highlights include a
leather-wrapped dashboard, an Alcantara roof liner, M-brand door sill
plates and aluminum trim. If that's not impressive enough, the models also
boast contrast stitching, embossed headrests, a four-zone automatic climate
control system and a Harman Kardon audio system.
Both models are powered by a twin-turbo
4.4-liter V8 engine that develops 567 bhp (423 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft)
of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and
an M-specific all-wheel drive system which enables them to accelerate from
0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h
Speaking of performance, the crossovers also have an M Servotronic steering
system and a sport-tuned suspension that reduces the ride height by 10mm.
There's also a high-performance braking system (with Dark Blue metallic
calipers) and a Dynamic Damper Control system with three different modes:
Comfort, Sport and Sport+.
Both models will go on sale in the United States next spring and pricing
starts at $99,650 for the X5 M and $103,050 for the X6 M.
