If you buy a normal S600 and add an off-the-shelf remap (software update), it will be beating the acceleration of the Ferrari F599 GTB (see youtube.com/watch?v=w8eE5o5NaVU at 43 seconds). Top speed estimated around 200mph, but not yet able to find a completely empty road. I do not take unnecessary risks. This is a 2004 S600, software tuned by DMS. Except for the software the rest of the car is 100% stock. The brakes are AMG 360mm, but these are aIl S600 stock items. I am surprised how this luxury car handles in Sports ABC mode. Raw torque before the remap was 800 Nm; now unknown. Anything above 1100 would rip the gearbox apart, which is why the S65 is torque limited to 1000 Nm and can therefore be the victim of an S600. An S65 is electronically limited to 250 km/h; AMG will raise the limit to 300 km/h if you pay them handsomely and pass a practical AMG high speed driving test. A stock S600 would run 305 km/h without a limiter, according to Mercedes internal documents. It runs over 320 km/h with a remap, if your Tuner and registration documents allow this ... and if you mount high speed tyres beyond the 300 km/h allowed for Y specs. I had faster acceleration in another run (http://youtu.be/Y2qXFusKmik - due to less wheel spin) but in this run the road allowed accelerating to about 180 mph. The stock speedometer maxed out at 160 mph but watch the rev meter go higher. You will see that the car shifts into 5th gear at slightly above 170 mph. Traffic ahead prevented a faster run. The wind noise at high speed is quite considerable even with the double glazing. No radio playing on purpose. With the radio playing the wind noise would not appear that loud. The adrenalin drowns out noise and tunnel vision.
