1998 Olds 88 LS
My very clean 1998 Olds 88 LS Toreador Red. I have had it since August 1999 and never seen another one just like it. It has a graphite interior with buckets and a console. Built May 1998, purchased used in August 1999 with 30,000 miles on it for 14K OTD. Sticker price was $28K. I get about 25 MPG city and 28 MPG highway. Major repairs made: Intake manifold plenum 90K miles - $400 Radiator 115K miles - $300 Routine maintenance: 1 spark plug wires - $70 1 spark plugs - $70 1 Serpentine belt - $80 1 Battery - DIY 1 Front brake pads - DIY The car shares much technology and design characteristics with the 1998 Cadillac Seville STS. If someone out there understands the relationship between the two cars, I would like to be enlightened. Back then , there was the Buick-Olds-Cadillac Division of GM. In 2009 I noticed the first body rust, which is under the piece of rubber between the rear wheelwell and the rear door jam. To go 11 years in an area that uses salt for roads is great. I've seen two-year old cars with more rust. This is the second Oldsmobile that I 've owned. I bought a used 1986 Olds Delta 88 Royale Brougham Coupe in 1993. I drove that for six years. Another sweet car. I took the wallpaper picture in 1999 with my 4 and 8 year old sons. It was right after I bought the 1998 88 LS, and before I sold my 1986 Delta 88. The other picture I took this past spring.

I woke up this morning and had an urge to remake this video for some reason. Talk about weird. Anyways, it's a 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight, with a GM 3800 V6 Series II engine. It gets 26 MPG, and it's not a bad car. The previous owner had a huge accident with it, and destroyed the front bumper. So when we got it the cheapest one was red. I like to call it the Moldsmobile. :)

Our documents suggest that this is one of only four Golden Rocket 88 2-door sedans in existence with the J2 engine. The two-tone bodywork on this car is spectacularly done and looks especially striking in black and white with a red stripe in the chrome trim that separates the two halves. Bodywork is beautiful, with straight panels and excellent fit throughout, evidenced by the miles-deep reflections in the paint. The real story on this Olds is the J2 371 cubic inch engine under the hood. Fully rebuilt during the restoration, it runs like new and the passing of years has proven that these are some extremely durable engines. Detailing is first-rate too, from the 'Oldsmobile J2 Rocket" decals on the valve covers, to the correct 2-barrel carburetors, to the original power steering system that's fully functional. You'll note that this engine sports a trio of shorty air cleaners on the carbs, but the original dual oil-bath air cleaner is also included. The engine is backed by a 3-speed Hydramatic transmission, and drives the original rear end. Brakes were rebuilt to stock specifications, as was the suspension, although the car was given a subtle, aggressive look by tweaking the spring height slightly. The car wears a set of chrome Billet Specialties wheels, but the original 15-inch steel wheels and plain hubcaps are included. From the tri-tone seats with patented GM comfort weave cushions, to the positively breathtaking instrument cluster, this interior is new. The original radio has been upgraded to include an iPod interface. The trunk is sporting a custom carpet, but an original trunk mat is included. This Olds is fast, comfortable, luxurious, and about 2/3 the cost of a comparable Chevy. There are no irreversible modifications, and this car could be put back to 100% stock condition in an afternoon. This generation, essentially being a redo of the GMC Jimmy, stands out less than it's successor which debuted in 2002. While, essentially it was a Jummy and Blazer rebadge, oldsmobile put some of it's unique touches in it including unique interior trim, leather, standard AWD, unique gauges, bose audio system and more. The exterior is also more flush and clean looking rather than it's siblings with it's sparse use of chrome and more utilization of the monochrome body styling. Under the hood of the 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado. This is the original 455 engine and original turbo-hydramatic 425 automatic transmission (numbers match). 1968 is the first year that the 455 engine was available in the Toronado. Specifications include 10.5:1 compression, 4 barrel Rochester Quadrajet carb, 375 horsepower. The A/C has been retrofitted to R134a. The ignition system has been retrofitted to electronic (Pertronix), so no more points to adjust. Battery has been replaced with maintenance-free type, and the cables were replaced with OEM style Spring-Ring type.

I thought you'd like a look at this nicely restored 1957 Olds Super 88 2 dr. This awesome car also is equipped with the rare J2 option, which means it has the Tri-power set-up atop the 371 Olds Rocket V8. The 371 Rocket has the same bore as a 350 Chevy, but it has a longer stroke, which means it cranks out a bunch of torque. This engine was factory rated at 400 LbFt of torque and 277 horsepower.
