1956 Ford Customline Victoria & Ranch Wagon Car Commercial

The 1956 Ford passenger car remained largely unchanged from the previous 1955 model aside from a slightly redesigned, more open grille. Big news for 1956 was the adoption of 12 volt electrical system across the entire Ford line. The Thunderbird Power mentioned in the clip comes from the V8 "Y" 292 CID engine rated at 193 hp. Of course this was the same engine used in the Thunderbirds of the day.

Ford Reconnaissance Cars Join the Army - 1941 - WWII GPW Jeep
In total Ford Motor Company produced roughly 282,352 "Jeeps" during World War II in the years 1941-1945. This figure does not include the 12,778 GPA models dubbed "Sea Jeeps" or simply "Seeps". In total some 647,950 U.S. Army Jeeps were produced during the war years with the remainder being manufactured by the American Bantam Car Company (one of the original designers/manufacturers) and Willys-Overland (design/manufacturer). Ultimately, contributions in both design and manufacture by all three companies produced the US Army Jeep in its final iconic form used throughout the second world war in every theater of operation.





The Willow Run Story, B-24 Liberator Production WWII 1945
The Willow Run manufacturing plant (owned/operated by Ford Motor Company until 1946) began life in 1939 as a farm providing vocational training for young men under the name Camp Willow Run. Sensing the need for war production plans were already in motion to build an aircraft production plant. Farming was effectively removed in 1941 when construction on the plant ensued. The plant, as a whole, concentrated on the production of Pratt & Whitney R-1830 engines, gliders, Superchargers, and various avionics among other products. The main facility was completed on December 4, 1941, just days before the attack at Pearl Harbor. In addition, a full airstrip was constructed to facilitate testing of the finished bombers. Willow Run reached peak output in 1944 which saw a complete B-24 Liberator leaving the assembly line every fifty five minutes. These completed aircraft were tested by on site air crews after final assembly. 8,685 complete B-24 Liberators were reportedly manufactured at the Willow Run plant accounting for roughly forty eight percent of the estimated 18,000 aircraft of this type produced during World War II. Ford Motor Company sold the plant to Kaiser-Frazer in 1946 after which Kaiser produced various automobiles including the Henry J. Kaiser then sold the plant to General Motors in 1953. 1934 Ford Manufacturing Exposition - US Auto History
This film documents a short tour showing elements of the Ford exposition in 1934. The cars rebuilt factory 302 is reliable, runs strong and looks beautiful under the hood. The firewall, inner fenders, underside of the hood, hood hinges and springs, are coated in a slick coat of gloss white paint to match the body. An assortment of dress up pieces, including chrome alternator and coil to polished aluminum air cleaner and valve covers are sprinkled in all the right places. A period correct 12 volt battery, new wiring harness and a recent alignment were also included in the restoration. At the top of the engine is a Holley carburetor. At the front of the engine is a new radiator and electric cooling fan. During the restoration, this classic Fords undercarriage was treated with the same attention to detail as its exterior. The frame, floor boards and cross members are beautiful, showing no rust, patches or holes. New u-joints, pinion seal, ball joints, tie rod ends, springs and shocks were included. Out back you will find a new 2" aluminum dual Exhaust, and new gas lines, electric fuel pump, fuel regulator and a relined gas tank. Motivation is provided by a reliable rebuilt Ford C4 automatic transmission and a bulletproof Dana 44 rear end. Braking is provided by 4 wheel drum brakes with an all new duel line power brake system including lines and wheel cylinders. Keeping the car firmly planted on the pavement is a spectacular set of 17" American Racing wheels. Overall, the bottom of this car presents very well with solid floor that display no signs of rust, a straight frame that shows no indication of damage, and a slew of fresh parts which all function as they should. This awesome Parklane is sporting a brand new interior as well. Its tasteful and comfortable two-tone interior is a classy reminder of the days when style and appeal were the central focus of car design. In front of the passengers, a beautifully restored dash houses an original style AM radio, heater controls, locking glove box and a trio of aftermarket Sunpro gauges. In front of the driver, the steering wheel sits in front of the gauge cluster and accessory knobs. Everything from the door panels to the headliner, carpet to upholstered seats is brand new. The bench seats provide the perfect spot for main street cruise nights. The rear seat folds down to seriously expand the amount of trunk/storage space. The detailed carpet and trim in the trunk of this wagon is incredible. Even the hinges and springs on the hatchback are chromed. This is one stunning wagon.
