1956 Ford Customline Victoria & Ranch Wagon Car Commercial

The 1956 Ford passenger car remained largely unchanged from the previous 1955 model aside from a slightly redesigned, more open grille. Big news for 1956 was the adoption of 12 volt electrical system across the entire Ford line. The Thunderbird Power mentioned in the clip comes from the V8 "Y" 292 CID engine rated at 193 hp. Of course this was the same engine used in the Thunderbirds of the day.

Car Commercials from the 1950's
These classic car commercials fascinate for many reasons. Not only do we get a rundown of the features on these cars and what was important to car buyers in the 1950's, but we also get a glimpse at the 'hard sell' advertising methods commonly used by Madison Avenue in those days. And, obviously, consumers back then had no problem sitting through a two minute commercial, something unheard of in the "short attention span" habits of today's viewers. The cars featured are: 1956-59 Dodge, '56 Chrysler Imperial, '57 Ford models, '58 Edsel, 1950 Mercury and a Kaiser Henry J from the mid-50's. Enjoy.

Inside you'll find some exceptional custom tuck and roll interior, VDO gauges and a tachometer, a custom sound system with a hidden glove box mounted CD receiver deck and hidden rear speakers. It's very clean inside and also VERY comfortable! It has dual Exhaust, sliding rear windows, and is actually a pretty fast old wagon! This Ranch Wagon sits right, drives tight, and is just plain cool!

1971 FORD CUSTOM RANCH WAGON -- LOW END WAGON
There was a time especially in the seventies, an influx of wagons across America. Wagons were the family haulers, the cargo haulers, and a great utilitarian vehicle that was the forerunner of the minivan and the suv. Ford was a leader in the wagon field and produced different levels of wagons to fill various market needs. The Ford Custom Ranch Wagon like this was at the low end. Other wagon models included the Custom 500 Ranch Wagon a 5 door 2 seat, the Custom 500 Ranch Wagon, a 5 door 3 seat, the G500 Country sedan wagon, 5 door 2 seat and 5 door 3 seat, and lastly, Country Squire 5 door 2 and 3 seater. Options and accessories differ with each model including the price tag. This wagon here cost around $3,400 and 16,696 of these low end wagons were produced. Nearly 250,000 Ford wagons were sold this year. Not a bad showing. Engines range from an L-head 6, 240 / 140 to V8's, 351 / 240, 400 / 260, 429 / 320 - 360 This example here is a good representation of what Ford created for a low end wagon. This low mileage has excellent paint, like new green vinyl seats, plenty of cargo space and spare tire well. Notice the dash that thrust toward the driver with the instruments all right there under the driver's eyes. Thanks for viewing this 1971 Ford Custom Ranch Wagon.
