Featuring highly desirable Hurst T-tops, a stout Pontiac V8, a correct
4-speed transmission and a striking red and white color combination, this
awesome 1978 Trans Am is a super cool second generation F-body which offers
unbeatable value and outstanding looks!
Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility, shipped to D'Elia
Pontiac in Greenwich, Connecticut and delivered to Joan Galbicsek of
Milford, Connecticut, this awesome '78 Trans Am has only seen two owners
throughout its entire 34 year existence. A bright coat of correct GM code
11 Cameo White paint lies between 100% original body panels and a nice set
of four color call outs. And the cars straight body is rock solid,
dent-free and appears largely now as it did when it rumbled right off the
Pop this Trans Am's ghost white hood and you'll find a 400 cubic inch L78
YH block that was Pontiac's top of the line engine for the 1974 model year.
By utilizing Pontiac's proven "6X" head design to create a higher
compression ratio and provide better low end grunt, the L78 continued
Pontiac's reputation as the end all, be all muscle car division and made
the Trans Am one of the fastest pony cars on the market. At the top of the
motor, a proven 4-barrel carburetor sits under the cars awesome shaker
scoop. Below that carburetor, Pontiac Turquoise paint coats the entire
engine block and correct, to the engine, Exhaust manifolds send spent gases into a high
performance factory Exhaust system.
And all the hard parts around the motor, from the belt driven accessories
to the brake Booster and air
conditioning hanging on the fire wall are in good working order.
Underneath this Trans Am, a super solid 34 year old undercarriage tells the
story of years of excellent maintenance with rock solid floor pans and a
whole roster of OEM components. At the center of the car, a correct Borg
Warner T-10 4-speed transmission, which wears a June 16th of 1978 date
stamp, sends power to a correct 10 bolt Posi-traction rear axle. And at the
corners of the car, a correct WS6 special performance suspension, which
includes heavy duty sway bars, shocks and springs combines with power front
disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. Power
flows to the pavement through modern 255/60 Goodyear Eagle GT radials that
are wrapped around signature 15 inch snowflake wheels and correct 'red
bird' center caps.
Inside this awesome Pontiac you'll find a striking and correct GM code 74R
Carmine Red interior which appears to be original to the car and looks much
fresher than its 34 year age would suggest. In the middle of that interior,
original standard bucket seats are comfortably firm and look like they
should be in a much more modern car; and at the bottom of that interior,
red carpet presents minimal wear that is likely the result of years of
protection by heavy duty B37 floor mats. Between the carpet and seats, a
simple red console houses the cars prerequisite Hurst shifter; and above
the seats, a stain free headliner is stretched tight around its tinted
Hurst T-tops. At the front of the interior, an excellent looking engine
turned dash holds crystal clear gauges above controls for the cars heat,
correct C60 air conditioning and correct UM2 Delco-GM stereo. And at the
sides of the interior, thick red door panels hang cool stainless trim
between chrome handles for the doors and windows and large red armrests. In
front of the driver, a correct black Formula steering wheel sits on a
correct N33 tilt steering column. And behind the cockpit, big Pioneer
speakers hang over a clean trunk which carries a correct spare tire and
jack beside a "Hurst" branded T-top bag.

1978 Pontiac Trans Am 0-60
This is a video a friend and I took of his families 1978 Trans Am, they

This fully restored 1978 Gold Special Edition Trans Am combines a fresh
frame off restoration with a tweaked 6.6 liter V8 and an original 4-speed
transmission to create a killer second generation F-body which has the
power to back up its outstanding looks.
Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility in May of 1978 and
shipped to Mc Aleer Buick-Pontiac; this Gold Special Edition Trans Am was
custom ordered and exceptionally kept for 30 years by Terry Hoffman of
Danville, Illinois. In 2009, the cars second owner commissioned Tom Fischer
of Muscle Car Alley to complete a frame-off rotisserie restoration which
supplemented its straight, original body with a new tail panel and new
quarter panel patches that are butt welded in place to ensure no overlap.
Once the body was rock solid and fully prepped, a rich coat of GM code 50
Solar Gold was sealed under a thick clearcoat shell that has been buffed to
a spectacular wet-look shine. The result is a very dynamic Trans Am that
features super straight lines and better than factory fit and finish.
Pop the cars gold hood and you'll find an original 400 cubic inch W72 V8
which has been equipped with a mild cam swap and now makes a sports car
worthy 300 horsepower. The W72 combines
smaller '6X' heads with a larger block to create higher compression which,
despite modest horsepower numbers, provided
enough low end grunt to make this Trans Am the fastest pony car on the
market. At the top of the motor, a correct Rochester 4-barrel carburetor
sits under an awesome and equally functional shaker hood scoop. Below that
carburetor, original GM corporate blue paint coats the entire block and
original Ram Air III manifolds send spent gases into a high performance Exhaust system. All the hard parts around
the motor, from the belt driven accessories to the brake Booster and air conditioning hanging on the
fire wall are factory correct.
The cars super solid 33 year old undercarriage has been completely restored
and carries highly detailed original floor pans which were protected for 30
years by dealer applied undercoating. (The original receipt is included
with the sale) At the center of those floor pans, an original Borg Warner
T-10 4-speed transmission sends power to an original 10 bolt Posi-traction
rear axle; and at the corners of those floorpans, an original WS6
suspension, which includes heavy duty sway bars, shocks and springs
combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide great
stopping and handling. Originally equipped with a power Boosting true dual Exhaust system, this car now wears fresh mandrel
bent aluminized pipes which send gases through a welded X-pipe to custom
welded aftermarket mufflers and traditional stainless Firebird tips. Power
flows to the pavement through 225/70 Goodyear Polysteel Radials that are
wrapped around fully restored 15 inch aluminum gold snowflake wheels.
Inside the car you'll find a stylish blend of Camel Tan upholstery and
Special Edition Trans Am exclusive gold trim. The cars original seats are
comfortably firm and, carrying cloth that is much more appealing than
typical pony car vinyl, look like they should be in a much more expensive
car. Below the seats, tan carpet presents minimal wear and looks fresh
enough to have been installed during the cars recent restoration. Between
the seats, a simple Camel Tan console houses chrome switches for the cars
power windows behind the cars chrome Hurst shifter; and above the seats, a
stain free headliner is stretched tight around the cars mirrored T-tops. In
front of the seats, an excellent looking engine turned dash houses crystal
clear gauges above controls for heat and air conditioning and the cars
correct Delco-GM stereo and 40 channel CB. At the sides of the seats, thick
Camel Tan door panels feature bright stainless trim and chrome handles for
the doors and windows. And in front of the driver, a correct gold Formula
steering wheel features a correct gold screaming chicken horn button inside
a Camel Tan rim.

This extremely rare 1978 Gold Special Edition Trans Am is an all original
investment grade pony car that combines enduring Pontiac performance with
some of the best visual sizzle to ever come out of Detroit.
Assembled at GM's Norwood Ohio manufacturing facility in July of 1978, this
gold Trans Am was taken right up the road to Brown Motor Sales in Toledo
Ohio and promptly sold to Pamela Kudelka who has owned it for almost 34
years. The car has been immaculately maintained and features an original
coat of GM code 50 Solar Gold paint on top of 100% original body panels
that have never been wrinkled or repaired. Since the car has never been
disassembled, it still displays completely factory accurate panel gaps that
look surprisingly good and provide great panel alignment. On top of the
spectacular Solar Gold paint, a set of full outlining stripes complements
an awesome brown, yellow and gold screaming chicken hood decal which amps
the cars visual appeal up from 'radical' to 'out of this world'.
Under the hood you'll find this Trans Ams all original L78 V8 which, at 400
cubic inches was the largest muscle car engine you could buy in 1978. At
the top of that motor, an original Rochester 4 barrel carburetor sits under
the cars awesome shaker scoop. Below that carburetor, original GM corporate
blue paint coats the entire block and original Exhaust manifolds send Exhaust into a high performance factory Exhaust system. All the hard parts around the
motor, from the belt driven accessories to the brake Booster and air conditioning hanging on the
fire wall are factory original; and as expected tags, markings and stamps
are just where they should be from the date coded core support to the gold
painted cowl tag.
Underneath this Trans Am, a super solid 33 year old undercarriage tells the
story of years of excellent maintenance and treatment with rock solid floor
pans that still display most of their factory undercoating. Behind the
motor, an original 3-speed automatic transmission sends power to an
original code GM8 Posi-traction rear axle that's loaded with street
friendly 2.56 gears. The cars original suspension, which includes Trans Am
spec sway bars, shocks and springs combines with power front disc brakes
and rear drums to provide great stopping and handling. All of the cars
hardware and bushings appear to be in good shape and out back, a new
stainless fuel tank is solid and leak free. Power flows to the pavement
through fresh 225/70 Firestone Firehawk radials that are wrapped around the
cars original Special Edition exclusive 15 inch cast aluminum wheels.
Inside the car you'll find a stylish blend of original Camel Tan upholstery
and Special Edition Trans Am exclusive gold trim. The cars original seats
are comfortably firm and, carrying vinyl that is thicker than typical pony
car attire, look like they should be in a much more modern, much more
expensive car. Below the seats, tan carpet shows minimal wear and tear
considering it's been through 33 years of Ohio winters and has likely been
carefully protected by the cars rubber floor mats the whole time. Between
the seats a simple Camel Tan console houses a storage bin behind the cars
automatic shifter, and above the seats, a stain free headliner is stretched
tight around the cars mirrored tops. In front of the driver, an excellent
looking engine turned dash houses crystal clear gauges above controls for
heat and air conditioning and the cars never removed Delco-GM stereo. At
the sides of the seats, thick Camel Tan door panels feature bright
stainless trim and chrome handles for the doors handles and windows.
Connecting the driver to the road is a correct gold steering wheel with a
Camel Tan rim and a correct gold screaming chicken horn button.
Take it to the Pontiac Nationals or drive it to work when the weather is
nice, either way, you can't go wrong with this Trans Am!
