2013 NASA PTE National Championship Race Miller Motorsports Park
The Sunday Championship race for PTE at the 2013 NASA Nationals. This video is from the number 848 Miata driven by Jason Kohler. Started 4th in class, finished 1st. Background info for the Thursday and Friday qualifying sessions: Thursday's qualifying race went well, finished 3rd behind Andrew and William, but ended up getting moved up to 2nd after one of them dq'd. Friday didn't go so smoothly - car shut off during qualifying on the first hot lap. MMP has extremely rough FIA curbing at many of the corner exits. I got on the curbing, and the vibration caused my battery to shift under the bracket and short the positive post to the bracket...killed all power to the car. So, I didn't get a qualifying time and had to start in the very back...20 positions behind the PTE leader, because the officials chose to intermix the PTD and PTE grid order for these races. Despite a sub-par finish in the qual race, I had a great time racing with Brett Westcott! Thus, with a good finishing position from Thursday and a poor one from Friday, I started Sunday's Championship race from a mid-pack position of 4th (Unfortunately, William wasn't able to make the Sunday race due to car trouble). I get a real strong start on the green flag, but my opening gets blocked, so I tuck in behind Glen McCready, but are stuck with the outside of T1. A couple corners later in T3, Glen gets hit by another car and is spun off track. I had lifted to avoid hitting Glen, so now I have to work a bit to catch back up to the leaders (Andrew, Bruce, Reger, Brett). There were a couple of out of class cars to get by....dang BMWs - frustrating when an out of class car that's 3 seconds slower per lap won't let you by... Eventually Andrew and I get away from Bruce and Reger. We swap the lead a few times before his motor finally decides to give up. At this point, I for some reason thought that I was still in second behind the red miata in front of me, and spend the rest of the race driving as hard as possible to catch him! Turns out on the cool down lap, I get close enough to read his miniature class letters and it was Shawn's PTD car....I had been in 1st the whole time! That's always a nice surprise :)

Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR Miller Motorsports Park Record Lap
Renowned Dodge road racer Kuno Wittmer piloted a street legal 2010 Dodge Viper ACR to a record lap of 1:59.995 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, on Monday, April 11, breaking the 2-minute mark for the first time in a production car on the 3.048-mile Outer Course configuration. The Viper ACR shattered the previous production car lap record of 2:03.86, held by Jan Magnussen in a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 by close to 4 full seconds
