Nürburgring Nordschleife Touristenfahrten April 23, 2015 Recap/On Board Video
Recap/on board video from the Nürburgring. Ever since I first learned of the Ring nearly 20 years ago I have always wanted to try it for myself. Needless to say it was worth the wait. As track footage so frequently does, the video does no justice to the elevation, blind corners and bumpiness of this most famous track. Since you use exit on the main straight every lap to pay to go again a timing method of "Bridge to Gantry" (BTG) is the universally accepted way of timing Touristenfahrten (aka public driving) laps. Despite only having 11 laps under my belt (plus a construction zone from the recent fatal crash) as well as one on track incident in our path I was very pleasantly surprised with our pace! Enough cannot be said about the people and car from Rent4Ring. The prep on this car would make it at home at any NASA event. First trip to the Nürburgring. Shown here is my 11th lap ever at the Nordschleife. Vehicle used is Rent4Ring's BMW 125i Stage 2 Mods include: • Michelin Pilot Sport Cup semi-slick road-legal race tyres • KW suspension • Recaro Pole Position racing seats and SCHROTH harnesses • ZF 8-speed transmission with sequential push/pull shifter • Upgraded brakes using Motul fluid and Endless pads

2011 Mustang GT Brembo brake package 3.73 gear Mods: FRPP sport mufflers Steeda chrome-moly lower control arms Run: 60' 1.97 1/4 12.915 MPH 110.13 As you can tell, traction is an issue. Steeda LCAs didn't help with wheel hop off the line, and it's still very bad on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Best run on the day was a 12.87 @110 with a 2.0s 60'. Should be easily in the low-mid 12's with drag radials. Based on what I've experienced, the 3.73 gear is not going to provide an advantage over the 3.55 or 3.31 on a street tire as traction is very hard to come by with this car. So, if you're looking to buy a new 5.0 keep that in mind when you go to select your gear ratio. The G8 GT in the other lane went 11.757 @ 117.75 on a 1.623 60'. He would later spray his way into the 10s.
