Drag Racing - Notes from 34th Annual Auto-Plus Night Under Fire listing lane, driver name, and elapsed time/top speed this round:
New to the Auto-Plus Night Under Fire this year is the Historic Nitro Funny Car class featuring many of the 1970s highest-profile and most successful cars.
Tonight's format has one round of qualifying and one final round to determine a winner. With the qualifying order set in the previous round, the winner will emerge from this round.
Up first, number seven qualifier Doc Halladay driving Telstar has a bye round, as Brian Stewart driving Tom Hoover's Showtime Corvette was unable to bring his car to the line due to mechanical problems.
Budweiser (Right) Lane: Doc Halladay runs 6.265/222.44.
Next up, number five and six face off, with Lee Jennings, Jr. (#5) driving the Dick Harrell Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car vs. Ronnie Young (#6) in the famous Blue Max.

Summit (Left) Lane: Young runs 6.360/205.04 ***WINNER***
The two cars were separated only by 0.03 second at the eighth mile but Lee Jennings, Jr. got lose and swerved back and forth in his lane, then crossed over into Young's lane. Jennings' expert driving prevented a catastrophe and he barely kissed the retaining wall.
After a quick look for debris we're back for the consolation round as Frank Hawley (#3) in the Chi-Town Hustler faces Mike Savage (#4).
Budweiser (Right) Lane: Savage runs 5.985/225.75 ***WINNER***
Summit (Left) Lane: Hawley runs 12.438/66.07
Hawley got off the starting line first but got out of shape and had to back off the throttle. Savage took the win light.
Next up is the final round to determine the Auto-Plus Night Under Fire Historic Funny Car champion with number one qualifier Jon Capps in "Jungle Jim" against Dale Pulde (#2) behind the wheel of War Eagle.

Summit (Left) Lane: Pulde runs 6.109/179.80
A solid race but Pulde crossed the centerline and was disqualified. Capps is the first Auto-Plus Night Under Fire winner in the Historic Funny Car class. These Historic Funny Cars put on a good show tonight with a total of five passes this evening in the five-second range. Nostalgia Drag Racing
