500 hp Audi S4 quattro vs 12"+ of fresh snow! Unstoppable...
Last night we enjoyed a great winter storm, well over 12" (30 cm) at my house. I wanted to see if my lowered Audi S4 on Dunlop Wintersport 4D snow tires was up to the task going through such deep snow. A guest appearance is made by my 6 hp Subaru powered Ariens Snowblower (mostly unstoppable).

2014 Audi R8 V10 | Review | Test Drive | Audi R8 | Continental Audi
http://www.continentalaudi.com/index.htm 630-388-1000 For 2014, the R8 V-10 gains a new Plus model. Not to be confused with the ladies in a Lane Bryant ad, Plus here refers to the extra 25 horsepower that Audi coaxed from the 5.2-liter V-10. Basically, it's the Lamborghini-grade unit found in the Gallardo LP560-4. Firmer springs and dampers, inspired by the rarely-seen-outside-captivity R8 GT, are seriously stiff, bordering on annoyingly bouncy. We'd much rather live with the standard R8's supple magnetic shocks. But the biggest change is the newly available seven-speed dual-clutch automatic called S tronic. A $7800 option on all R8s, it replaces the clunky automated-manual transmission known as the R tronic. With the S, part-throttle upshifts are free of any twitchiness, giving the auto R8 the manners to live in traffic. For maximum acceleration, the S tronic offers launch control that holds the engine at 4500 rpm before engaging the first-gear clutch. The R8's owner's manual suggests finding a clear, empty road before using launch control, as it might cause unwanted attention. Good advice. Accelerating from zero to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds with the quarter-mile passing in 11.4 seconds at 126 mph certainly got our attention. That's two-tenths quicker to 60 and in the quarter than the 525-hp R8 R tronic we previously tested.

Audi RS4 Avant vs Vauxhall VXR8 Tourer (Holden HSV Clubsport) - performance estate car showdown
The Audi RS4 Avant and Vauxhall VXR8 Tourer are both V8 high-performance estate cars, but their execution couldn't be more different. SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar It's amazing that two £50,000 sporting V8 estate cars can be as different as the Audi RS4 Avant and Vauxhall VXR8 Tourer in character. The RS4 is turbocharged, four-wheel drive with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and impeccable fit and finish. The Holden HSV Clubsport-based Vauxhall VXR8 is big-hearted, rear-wheel drive, manual and has a comparatively old-school interior. Steve Sutcliffe drove them both flat-out to see if German precision could overcome the tyre-smoking brawn of the 6.2-litre VXR8. 2014 Audi RS5 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 507 Coupe! - Head 2 Head Ep. 51
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover which German hot-rod-personal-luxury-coupe is the best you can get. The 507 Coupe is the last iteration of the W204 C63. With the exception of the very limited-run Black Series, it's the best C63 that AMG has ever done. Under its hood sits a hand-built, 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 good for 507 horsepower. What more do you want? Perhaps something more high-tech, and that's where the Audi RS5 comes in. The sexy coupe from Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm features a 4.2-liter V-8 that spits out 450 hp. That¹s less power than the 507 Coupe makes, true, but the Audi also features AWD, a dual-clutch transmission, bigger wheels and tires, plus a trick torque-vectoring rear differential. Which one is quicker? Which one is more fun to drive? Which one is best? Watch and find out! MTM Supercharged B7 Audi RS4 Clubsport! Launch, 8250 RPM, Crazy Insane sound!
Test drive of MTM's Amazing Supercharged B7 Audi RS4 Clubsport! The MTM RS4 Clubsport. What praise can we possibly give to the regular RS4 that hasn't already been said? It's simply a phenomenal and highly-capable 4-door unlike anything else available. In stock form it's good enough to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife quicker than any other 4-door sports sedan on the market. It's exceptionally luxurious and well equipped. It also comes with the tried and proven all weather conquering quattro driveline now with a rearward torque bias. It's not perfect to all people though. And so where there's room for improvement MTM steps to the proverbial plate. The centerpiece of the MTM RS4 Clubsport package is the liquid-to-air intercooled, Lysolm-type, belt driven Supercharger that resides directly underneath the carbon fiber bulge on the hood and feeds the car with 0.45 bar (6.5 psi) of fresh air. This cleverly designed package sits smack dab between the cylinder heads within the "V" of Audi's 4.2 liter V8 and Boosts power levels to a very impressive 535 horsepower and 428 ft-lbs of torque. The engine internals and compression ratio remains 100% stock. A special carbon fiber vent on the hood gives extra clearance to the Supercharger and helps keep underhood temperatures checked. The blower assembly completely replaces the stock variable length intake manifold. It's important to note that the RS4 Clubsport is still a prototype, meaning it is quite clearly a work in progress. The final version will certainly be finely finished and up to OEM standards and aesthetics, as with all MTM vehicles. The particular Supercharger on this press car has actually been adapted from a standard S4 application, which is evident by the holes in the intake runner where an IDI fuel injector would normally reside. This same system is available on the normal S4 and can produce up to 503 horsepower. Roland has set the development durability goal of 50,000 km for this Clubsport RS4. This means he is not going to release the kit into production until the test car reaches 50,000 trouble free kilometers on the stock engine internals. Currently, the press car has seen roughly 15,000 km, so there is a ways to go. However, press cars tend to see slightly more, ummm, "wear and tear" than the average car so one can rest assured that it has been thoroughly tested and developed under all conditions. We drove this car hard, and it ran well without a hiccup. Development of MTM's Supercharger system was far from easy. Three important factors contributed to the overall difficulty of the project; size (component packaging), heat, and ease of installation. Audi has already used up nearly all available space by just fitting a V8 into the A4 chassis. They've shortened the engine length as much as possible by using smaller than usual bore-to-bore spacing and fitting the accessory/cam drive to the back of the engine. This didn't leave Roland much real estate to work with on the front side. A Supercharger setup works by turning an air compressor (blower) mechanically with a belt and pulley system. The extreme revving capability of the RS4 engine means the entire belt drive system must be able to withstand high speed and high torque operation. At full Boost, the Supercharger can require 50 or more horsepower from the engine to spin itself, which must be transmitted through this belt. Considerable effort went into designing the belt/drive assembly to fit into the small space and function without slippage under all conditions. The additional heat generated by this setup necessitated the carbon fiber scoop which peeks menacingly from the hood area. MTM also concluded intercooling was vital for safe and consistent power delivery. Trials without intercooling showed that intake air temperatures would climb too high, which in turn would decrease power output as the ECU pulls back ignition timing to compensate. Higher temperatures also increase the likelihood of engine knock, not something welcome to an owner when a $30,000 RS4 engine is in stake. The water-to-air intercooling system taps cleanly into the factory cooling system adding an additional heat exchanger before passing through the Supercharger. "Power is nothing without control". This cliché statement holds especially true with MTM's RS4. Simply adding more power to a stock RS4 would result in a less rounded vehicle, perhaps not as effective overall as what originally rolled off the line at quattro GmbH. The remainder of the modifications were therefore designed to make maximum use of the additional power produced by the Supercharger. Weight saving measures bring the curb weight of the Clubsport down to a claimed 1660 kg (3650 lbs). This is about 350 lbs less than a US-spec RS4 even while counting larger brakes and additional safety features.

► Audi RS 7 Piloted Driving: AWESOME!!!
The Audi RS 7 piloted driving concept car is a technology platform with which Audi is exploring the possibilities of piloted driving at its most dynamic. On Friday, October 17 and Sunday, October 19 – prior to the start of the last DTM race – the concept car will complete one lap on the Hockenheim ring without a driver. The large, five-door coupe is largely identical to the production model, but its electromechanical power steering, the brakes, the throttle valve and the eight-speed tiptronic that distributes the power to the mechanical quattro drive system are controlled automatically. There are two primary technological considerations during piloted driving at the physical limit: the highly precise orientation of the vehicle on the road and absolute control of the vehicle at the handling limits. The technology platform uses specially corrected GPS signals for orientation on the track. Accurate down to a centimeter, these differential GPS data are transmitted to the vehicle via WLAN according to the automotive standard and redundantly via high-frequency radio. Parallel to this, 3D camera images are compared in real time against graphical information stored on board. The system searches in each of the countless individual images for several hundred known features, such as building patterns behind the track, which it then uses as additional positioning information. Control of the vehicle at the handling limits is another outstanding feature of the Audi RS 7 piloted driving concept car. Comprehensive on-board networking coupled with the highly precise control of all actors relevant to driving enable the technology platform to drive at the physical limits. The Audi engineers intensively investigated piloted driving at the handling limits, putting the technology platform through several thousand test kilometers on a variety of routes. To demonstrate its capabilities, the Audi RS 7 piloted driving concept car will drive a clean racing line at the Hockenheimring – with full throttle on the straights, full braking before the corners, precise turn-in and perfectly metered acceleration when exiting the corners. Forces of over 1.3 g occur during braking, and lateral acceleration in the corners can reach 1.1 g. Tests on the track in Hockenheim suggested an expected top speed of 240 km/h (149.1 mph) and a lap time of 2 minutes and 10 seconds. The race track is also the most demanding test bed for production when it comes to piloted driving. The future systems must also work extremely precisely and with zero errors in critical situations. They therefore must be capable of properly assessing the current situation even at the physical limit. This test bed provides the Audi engineers with a variety of insights for production development, such as for the development of automatic avoidance functions in critical driving situations. ► If you love cars, you should subscribe now to YouCar: http://urlz.fr/lEd All the Best.
