Cadillac hastily launched its first Escalade full-size sport utility
vehicle in 1998 as a reaction to the success of the Lincoln Navigator.
Sales for Cadillac's SUV never reached expectations, but the automaker
rejoined the fray with a boldly redesigned version that was introduced as
an early 2002 model. A new V-8 engine made the Escalade the most powerful
SUV on the market.
The Escalade may be equipped with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel
drive. XM Satellite Radio, a trailering package, second-row bucket seats
and a tire-pressure monitor are now standard for 2004, and a second-row
bench seat becomes a no-charge option. Buyers can now combine a sunroof
with a rear-seat DVD entertainment system. Cadillac also offers an Escalade
EXT model that features a pickup bed, as well as the jumbo-size Escalade
When it was unveiled for the 2002 model year, the Escalade was the first
production model to display Cadillac's "art and science design theme." This
bold, sharp-edged form was first seen on the company's 1999 Evoq concept
coupe and was described as "elegant severity."
Squared-off headlights complement the multifaced appearance of the front
end, which sports a prominent eggcrate grille. Xenon
high-intensity-discharge headlights were added for 2003. Cadillac's
wreath-and-crest insignia decorates the grille and liftgate. The Escalade
rides a 116-inch wheelbase, stands 74.2 inches tall, and stretches 198.9
inches long overall and 78.9 inches wide. Seven-spoke cast-aluminum wheels
hold 17-inch tires. A sunroof is optional.
Either seven or eight people enjoy the Escalade's leather upholstery. The
front seats have power lumbar, side bolster and recliner adjustment
features, and the front- and second-row seats are heated. A second-row
bench seat is standard, and each side of the available 60/40-split bench
folds in a two-step process. The third row has a 50/50-split seat.
The center console is integrated into a Zebrano wood-trimmed dashboard.
Power-adjustable brake and gas pedals include a memory function, and the
tri-zone climate system comes with either manual or automatic control.
Analog instruments have aluminum rims, and a Bulgari-designed analog clock
adds an elegant touch. The Bose stereo includes an in-dash six-CD changer;
duplicate stereo controls are also installed on the leather and wood
steering wheel. Touching a button folds the side mirrors close to the body
to enable squeezing through tight spots. GM's OnStar communication system
offers Personal Calling and Virtual Advisor features.
Under the Hood
A 5.3-liter V-8 engine develops 295 horsepower and 325
pounds-feet of torque in the rear-drive Escalade. Four-wheel-drive models
get a 6.0-liter V-8 that produces 345 hp and 380 pounds-feet of torque.
Both engines drive a four-speed-automatic transmission.
The company's StabiliTrak electronic stability system teams with a Road
Sensing Suspension System that adjusts to various road surfaces. Both
versions include a weight-distributing trailer hitch and wiring harness for
towing; the rear-drive model can tow 7,400 pounds and the four-wheel-drive
Escalade can tow as much as 8,100. Cadillac claims the rear-drive Escalade
can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 9.45 seconds, and the
four-wheel-drive version can achieve that feat in a swift 8.57 seconds.
Antilock brakes, all-speed traction control and side-impact airbags for
the front seats are standard. A passenger-sensing system was added in 2003.
An Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist function warns of obstacles to the rear
while the vehicle is backing up.

2015 Cadillac Escalade Luxury Review
In today's video I give detailed tour of the all-new 2015 Cadillac
Escalade 4wd Luxury showing exterior, engine and interior.
For the fourth generation Escalade, the SUVs share the same interior and
exterior DNA as the Suburban/Tahoe and Yukon/XL/Denali. The only difference
is that the front fascia has been completely redesigned featuring the same
Cadillac signature frontal design, while the LED taillamps that are located
in the back now extend from the bumper all the way up to the top of the
tailgate. The cargo space was reduced from 109.8 in (2,789 mm) to 94.2 in
(2,393 mm) on the standard base and from 137.5 in (3,492 mm) to 120.5 in
(3,061 mm) on the ESV in order to allow an additional 1.7 inches of
headroom and 45.3 inches of legroom in the front while reducing the
third-row legroom space to 24.8 inches from 25.6 inches. GM's 6.2-liter
EcoTec3 V8, good for 420 horsepower and 460
pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, is the
only engine offered, along with a new coil-over front suspension and
five-link rear setup, a wider track, variable-assist electric power
steering and Cadillac's Magnetic Ride Control system with Tour and Sport
modes. The interior now boast a hand-crafted design that features
cut-and-sewn and wrapped materials, with wood trim options chosen for
elegance and authenticity. The dashboard was also updated, and the Cadillac
CUE system is added as a standard feature.

2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV
Many years ago, ambitious gold miners set out across the country in hopes
of striking it rich. Some came out on top, others didn't come out at all.
Sometimes, it seems like searching for the perfect SUV can be like a gold
rush, hoping to find something great, but often ending up disappointed.
Fortunately for you, your search has brought you right to a gold mine: this
beautiful White Diamond 2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV with Navigation, Rear
Entertainment, Heated Seats, Parking Sensors, and Satellite Radio. It is
truly the perfect blend of luxury, practicality, and quality. Undoubtedly,
you have been looking for a vehicle that will take you where you want to go
in style and comfort. This is the SUV you've been looking for. With all the
great features all your passengers will be in a wonderful mood. And as an
All Wheel Drive vehicle you'll have the added comfort of knowing you have
an SUV that can handle even the most demanding driving conditions. Now lets
take a closer look at your new Cadillac Escalade ESV.
EXTERIOR: The WHITE DIAMOND paint coating the exterior of this ruggedly
luxurious vehicle is in shiny condition. The color is exquisite, and not a
typical coat of white paint. It sparkles in the sun, just like a big,
beautiful diamond. Powering this muscular machine is a four speed automatic
6.0L Vortec 6000 V8 engine with 380-lb ft of torque. The 18" chrome wheels
are in very nice shape and add to the overall striking presentation. With
running boards, your ascent and decent will be incredibly easy. You'll be
pleased to note, too, that the headlights are outfitted with HID headlights
to cut through the darkest nights. The front fog lamps are another
beneficial touch, especially when weather conditions require their use.
Solar ray tinted glass is a valuable feature because they will not only
help keep your car cool, but they are also a nice cosmetic touch. You can
also utilize the powerful engine to tow whatever you desire thanks to the
tow hitch. This is certainly an eye-catching ride.
INTERIOR: The cabin features the comfort of supple lovely SHALE leather on
all the seats. The leather carries over to the center of your control, the
wood and leather steering wheel. This wheel is outfitted with
multi-function controls for audio and cruise control. The look of wood trim
will remind you of the high class luxury that Cadillac provides. Your Caddy
has many exquisite touches from big to small, and right down to the BVLGARI
analog clock. One of the most exciting features of this Escalade is the
in-dash navigation center. You'll always be able to find your way by
utilizing the easy-to-use controls to get directions to essentially any
location. When you park, the Rear Park Assist proximity sensors will help
you keep your vehicle ding and scratch free as you park and get out of
tight spots. Powered through this central unit is the stereo that will be
blasting your music through the crystal clear sounds of the Bose sound
system with CD player, AM/FM/XM Satellite radio. Rear passengers will be
suitably entertained by the DVD Mobile Entertainment System which features
four headrest monitors. This way, not only will the passengers in the
second row be entertained, but third row passengers will also be able to
enjoy the same DVD programming! How will you fare on chilly mornings?
You'll be extremely comfortable thanks to the tri-zone automatic climate
control and heated first row 14-way power captains chairs and second row
chairs! The following features are waiting for you to enjoy: power glass
sunroof, Home Link Garage Door Opener System, fold flat second row seats,
fold flat third row seats, cupholders, rearview mirror with compass,
overhead console, and auxiliary power outlets. The vehicle comes with a set
of carpeted floor mats, books, and one key with remote!
We invite you to enjoy perusing the many photos herein listed as well as
your consideration of the history report to get to know your new Cadillac
better. Then, too, you are invited to consider what a great savings you
will have in this purchase. The 2005 model purchased new had an MSRP of
over $60,000! While this car is in great condition, please remember that it
is a used vehicle and will show some minor signs of wear. If you'd like a
panel by panel inspection of the car we'd be happy to do so over the phone
with you. Congratulations on this one of a kind find. The gold miners of
old would be proud of you. You will certainly have many years of enjoyment
with your great new 2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV!
