Castle Combe Special GT Race 15 Sept 1990 (MG 6R4 etc)
This race from the golden-age of the popular Castle Combe Special GT series features a superb battle for the lead between George Douglas's Skoda-Rover 4.5, Nigel Mustill's Sierra Cosworth-powered Ford Escort Mk1 and Rob Dennis's Group B MG 6R4. Local hero Brian Fisher isn't far behind in his Darrian T9,chased hard by Stuart Morton's rapid Hot Rod Starlet. Other cars in this race include a wildly oversteering Escort Mk2, Erling Jensen's huge 4.5 litre Rover SD1 and the massed ranks of Hillman Imps, led by Phil Lomas. TVR Tuscan Race Castle Combe May 1990
Steve Cole, Chris Hodgetts and Gerry Marshall battle it out in this close TVR Tuscan challenge race at Castle Combe in May 1990 . These were the days when Tuscan's had 4.5 Litre Rover V8s (which sound better than the later AJP engine) and when Combe had no chicanes and a notoriously bumpy surface. The Tuscan's seemed tailor-made for such a fast circuit and the racing is very close at the front. Castle Combe Special GT Race April 91
A wild selection of Special Saloons, Modsports and oddball entries at Castle Combe in April 1991 with the very serious Special Saloon Skoda of Brian Fisher heading up the Thundersaloon RS500 Sierra Cosworth of Nigel Mustill (which is indecently rapid!) and the Rovers SD1s of Williamson and Erling Jenson (the white one) a host of Magquire Imps, a rather raking Marcos , a massive Boss Mustang, some Vauxhall Chevettes, some Davrians and even a convertible Mini Clubman! Within a couple of years this series was dominated by ex Group C cars....things changed rapidly! Brought to you by SIMON LEWIS TRANSPORT BOOKS, quality motor sport collectables. Visit our website
