Castle Combe Special GT August 8 1990 MG 6R4s etc.

Great lead battle in the Castle Combe Special GT series , 8 August 1990, between George Douglas (Skoda Rover V8) the MG 6R4s of David Appleby, Sam Nelson and Rob Dennis and the Mk1 Escort of Nigel Mustill with it's Sierra Cosworth RS500 engine. Behind them an eclectic mix of Imps, Davrians, Escorts, a Sierra Cosworth and even a Dutton. A great series at this point with great diversity of entries.

Castle Combe Special GT Race April 91
A wild selection of Special Saloons, Modsports and oddball entries at Castle Combe in April 1991 with the very serious Special Saloon Skoda of Brian Fisher heading up the Thundersaloon RS500 Sierra Cosworth of Nigel Mustill (which is indecently rapid!) and the Rovers SD1s of Williamson and Erling Jenson (the white one) a host of Magquire Imps, a rather raking Marcos , a massive Boss Mustang, some Vauxhall Chevettes, some Davrians and even a convertible Mini Clubman! Within a couple of years this series was dominated by ex Group C cars....things changed rapidly! Brought to you by SIMON LEWIS TRANSPORT BOOKS, quality motor sport collectables. Castle Combe Special GT Race May 1990
George Douglas's Skoda , Rob Dennis's MG 6R4 and Nigel Mustill's rapid Mk1 Escort with it's RS500 Cosworth engine, battle it out for the leads during the last few laps of this May 1990 round of the Castle Combe Special GT series. The rest of the field is the usual Castle Combe oddball collection of a Thundersaloon Starlett, numerous Maguire Imps, Erling Jenson's Rover SD1, Davrians, BMWs, a Clan, an Rallying Escort that likes going sideways, a whacky Mini Clubman and even an MG Midget. TVR Tuscan Race Castle Combe May 1990
Steve Cole, Chris Hodgetts and Gerry Marshall battle it out in this close TVR Tuscan challenge race at Castle Combe in May 1990 . These were the days when Tuscan's had 4.5 Litre Rover V8s (which sound better than the later AJP engine) and when Combe had no chicanes and a notoriously bumpy surface. The Tuscan's seemed tailor-made for such a fast circuit and the racing is very close at the front. Traffic Officers and "Police" attend a Cadnam monthly meet
There were some unexpected guests at the August monthly meet. Traffic Officers from Winchester dropped in after they noticed an unique vehicle in the car park and wanted a closer look. Malcolm Bailey, Webmaster for 1009, had collected his new car the day before the meeting. After a busy day, finishing off the paperwork and making a stop at the garage to get a slight fault fixed, it was time to unveil his new toy to the rest of the Southampton & New Forest MG Owners Club. Having owned a standard factory MGB GT V8 in the past it wasn't going to be long before Malcolm wanted another. It would have to be something special though and he hasn't let us down. Malcolm's latest acquisition is a 1973 MGB GT V8 in Police white and, thanks to one of it's previous owners, complete with a collection of period equipment in the back. It even still has the original roof lights and two-tone horn installed. Malcolm and "Bill", his pet name for the first V8 to be demonstrated to Police forces in the UK, will now be seen at a variety of classic car events in and around the area. Among the first will be the Athelhampton gathering and Classic Cars on the Prom on Sunday (09/08/09).
