In 1998 Ford launched the Lincoln Navigator into the automotive market. GM
quickly devised a response to the Navigator and in 1999 GM introduced the
first generation of the Escalade. The original Escalade was launched with
the 5.7 L Vortec 5700 V8 at 255 hp engine and Autotrac selectable 4x4. Over
the years the Escalade became infamous for having almost identical designs
as the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali. GM did not produce a
2001 Escalade but instead redesigned the SUV for the 2002 model year. In
2004 the Escalade received many different changes to the luxury of the
vehicle including optional 20 inch rims, XM satellite radio, second-row
bucket seats, and a tire pressure monitoring system. In 2005 a Platinum
edition of the Escalade was introduced. The Platinum edition featured
heated and cooled cup holders, 20 inch chrome wheels, moon roof, three DVD
screens, and chrome accents on the steering wheel and grille.
In 2007 the Escalade underwent another remodeling. The 2007 Escalade's
engine is an all-aluminum 6.2 L Vortec V8. This pushrod engine includes
variable valve timing, a first in a mass-produced non-overhead cam engine.
The engine produces 403 hp (23 hp more than the GMC Yukon Denali) and 417
lbs of torque. The Escalade comes with a six-speed 6L80 automatic

What Camerons Car Reviews has to say about the Escalade: The Full Size
Luxury SUV still has it going these days, even with sky rocketing gas
prices and dismal fuel economy there is still consumers who want these
dinosaurs. The Escalade is one of the mammoths in this segment and is one
of the best selling ones. Power in the Escalade comes from a 6.2 L V8 made
into a 6-Speed Automatic with 4-Wheel Drive. On the interior you will find
a very luxurious cabin with nice rich materials and a great amount of room
up front and the rear (2nd Row Only). We love the long list of standard
features the Escalade offers and we love the nice gusty V8, However with
that heavy duty V8 made exclusively for the Escalade, it has very low fuel
economy, however every full size SUV has dismal fuel economy. Compared to
the Escalade's competitors the Navigator is too pricey and doesn't offer
the features the Cadillac offers, however we really love the Infiniti QX56
and we think it's a little more inviting on the interior and has more rich
materials. Is the Escalde worth purchasing now? Well it depends if you
really love the Escalade and you're a Cadillac enthusiast and you need a
Escalade soon. However otherwise the 2013 Escalade can wait as the next
generation will be coming out less than you can run to your nearest grocery

Mercedes has officially unveiled the 2014 S-Class at the Airbus A380
delivery center in Hamburg, Germany.
Designed to become one of the most luxurious and advanced vehicles ever
constructed, the 2014 S-Class has an evolutionary design that incorporates
a sportier front fascia, a larger grille and a gentle slanting rear end.
The sleek styling enables the model to have drag coefficient of 0.24 which
is pretty impressive considering the pint-sized CLA has a drag coefficient

Ever since the first Mercedes S-Class arrived in 1972 it has dominated the
Luxury car sector -- until the excellent Range Rover came along recently.
So can this new one regain its crown?
The Range Rover sets the benchmark for the Mercedes to beat. And starting
at around £70,000, this TDV6 Vogue is our pick of the range. By comparison
the long wheelbase A8 3.0-litre TDI SE seems a bit of a bargain. At less
than £64,000 it's the least expensive car here.
The Mercedes S350 L SE costs two thousand pounds more than the Audi, but
the S-Class is undoubtedly the most luxurious. The Range Rover comes and
impressive second though, with the A8 third.
The S-Class is offered with range of seating options. This one has the
£4000 Executive Seat package but can pay even more to make them recline up
to 43.5 degrees -- that's more than in any other car.
The Audi doesn't have such versatile seats but in the back it's no less
spacious than the Mercedes. It may be big on the outside but the Range
Rover has 80mm less rear legroom than the two Germans.
Bearing in mind that these cars are comfy cruisers, the Mercedes is the
best to drive, followed by the Range Rover and finally the Audi -- on
account of its sporty edge.
Both the Audi A8 and the Range Rover are gadget-laden. You can get posh
stereos, high tech screens, surround cameras and huge sunroofs in those
cars, but being the newest the Mercedes has an advantage. It gets the
latest displays, most advanced nigh vision system and even hot stone
So the S-Class leads the field for technology as well as being the most
luxurious plus the best to drive and to be driven in. But there's just one
last thing we need to consider.
The S-Class's boot capacity is a respectable 510-litres, which is the same
as the Audi A8. However, the Range Rover has a 909-litre capacity and, with
the seats folded, can swallow 2,030 litres.
That means the Range Rover is the most practical and overall it's a better
luxury car than the Audi A8. The thing is though, the Mercedes S-Class is
