Classic VW Engine Rebuild, By Last Chance Auto Restore.com
We began with a dual port 1600 cc engine from a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle.
The engine ran with a miss and was smoking a bit . After performing a
compression test,(both wet and dry) , we determined the crankshaft and
bearings were fine.
We replaced the pistons, pots & rings. We had the valves redone and made
several upgrades along the way.....
1961 Ragtop Beetle rebuild
Here is months of footage, all rolled down into under 7 minutes, of me
rebuilding my 1961 Ragtop Beetle after an extensive restoration. It was off
the road around two years. I didn't film the whole restoration as that
could get quite boring but I have got all of the stages photographed which
you can find at www.volksworld.com.
I did pop a few photos in at the beginning of the video but stick with it
as the video goes pretty fast!

VW 1600 motor rebuild - Part 2
Rebuilding a dual relief twin port 1600 Volkswagen motor. In this video I'm
assembling the bottom end crank shaft, cam shaft, lifters and distributor
drive. Finishes up with fitting the fly wheel shims and flywheel.
VW Type I engine
First start up after a top end rebuild a VW type I engine for a dune buggy.
VW Beetle distributor problem
30PICT-1 dist, 009 vacuum-only distributor. With the hose on, timing sits
at 30 all the time.
This issue was resolved in 2007 and the motor has been out of the car since
