Vintage: The Chevrolet Corvair | Drive it!
In 1959 the Corvair became the first rear-engine production car made in
America - and Chevrolet's answer to the VW Bug. By American standards, the
Corvair was very small (4.50 meters long) and unusually light (weighing
around 11 hundred kilos). Drive it! discovered a number of specimens of

A couple of interviews with Corvair owners at the South 71 Cruiser's Cruise

When this thing pulled in I saw the 350 on the side but it was so quiet.
Then some guy called me over to see the captains chairs that had to be used
so you could swing in as the SBC is really far forward on this thing.
