rally in the 1970's was truly a magical time which contained 1 of the most evocative cars of all time.
From Italy came the beautiful Lancia Stratos, a car which when driven by the likes of Sandro Munari and Markku Alen was capable of winning in any conditions.
The shrill scream of the Ferrari V6 engine Stratos and it's futuristic looks was in contrast to the other cars competing at the time.
Compilation of rally crashes.
-edit. I did not make this video. I downloaded it years ago off a forum I
believe. When youtube was just getting popular I was just uploading random
crap I had on my computer. Wasn't expecting this video to get soo many
views. I didn't chose the music, either. Because that band is terrible.

Mi piace ricordare 11° Presotto e Perissutti con la Ford Escort RS 1800
ufficiale che all' Elba del 1979 partiva davanti a me (navigatore era Max

Vudafieri

In 1981 the Rallye San Remo was again making history. The World
Championship battle was very much between (Peugeot-)Talbot, Ford and
Datsun, the drivers between Talbot driver Guy Fréquelin and Rothmans-Ford
driver Ari Vatanen. When Fréquelin retired with a blown engine, Vatanen
kept the drivers title exciting with an unnecessary crash from 2nd
place. For Peugeot-Talbot Fréquelins blown engine was bad news, because
Herni Toivonen in their 2nd car was well off form and complained about bad
and unpredictable handling. Then to add to slipping title worries Toivonen
had a huge crash, the doors wouldnt open any more, the drivers could only
get in and out through the windscreen the car was nick named Banana but
suddenly with that junk Toivonen started winning one stage after the other!
Henri drove this banana into an unbelievable 2nd place. This was
Peugeot-Talbots WRC title confirmed! This was the very moment when
Automobiles Peugeot directors took Talbot Sport management aside and
decided on a new sport department with Fréquelin navigator Jean Todt as
team boss. The whole Peugeot 205 T16 groupB idea is born in San Remo 1981!
San Remo 1981 is a classic for another reason. With Toivonen in a title
winning 2nd in a Talbot Banana, the winner was an Audi Quattro. But while
Audi team leader Hannu Mikkola only came 4th, it was Michèle Mouton to win
the rally outright. Rallye San Remo 1981 was the first time ever a lady
driver won a WRC event

The End of Group B
This video shows the darkside of Group B rallying and the most important
events that lead to the cancellation of the series from the rally
championship: spectator problems, the Portugal tragedy and the death of the
great Henri Toivonen and his co-driver, Sergio Cresto. Warning, it also
contains the footages of both fatal accidents!

A Datsun film: Rally of the 1000 Lakes 1981 Part 2
A very rare film (in Finnish): Datsun-Nissan promotional video from the
Rally of the 1000 Lakes 1981 "Those Formidable Flying Finns". Introduction
with a brief overlook of how Finnish drivers are brought up from karting
etc. Footage of Timo Salonen and Seppo Harjanne preparing for the rally,
interviews with some of the race organizers etc. And of course: some
brilliant footage of the rally itself in the beautiful scenery of the
Finnish lake district. Enjoy!
Group B - Pure sound 3
Ok, third and last one of the series. Almost 6 minutes of pure Group B
action and sound. Enjoy.
