Oops, Axle and Ball Joint Replacement Sorry I missed you last week, I had this video half done and didn't get a chance to finish. Well we have our 1990 Accord again, I'm getting some mileage out of this one but I don't mind cause there are still quite a few of these on the road and a few of you have claimed ownership to one of these 4th generation Accords, so enjoy. A couple of things to note, I could do a video on taking out the wishbone bolt alone, I've run into a few problems here such as a rusted bolt that won't come out of it's bushing as one example, perhaps future videos will show how to overcome this problem. I thought this one went together well despite the fact that you might be getting sick of Honda Accords, I still have more from other makes that I haven't edited or posted yet. I have more to this video as well that may show up in DVD form at one point, YouTube only gives me 10min to work with but I think that is enough to get you started and not lose interest. Replacing an Accord Wheel Bearing Ok, here it is finally. A few of you have requested this procedure so here it is. As I said in the video I normally use a different method of removing the hub from the bearing assembly by using a slide hammer. I also normally use a press to reinstall the hub into the new bearing instead of hitting it with a hammer. Life is not perfect and we sometimes have to improvise as I did here. I know a few of you will ask about the size fasteners that I used to hammer the bearing out, I used hardened (8.8) 10x1.25 bolts to do the job. Volvo McGard wheel lock removal without key by drilling
Removing McGard wheel lock bolts on a V70 T5 2003 (MY 2004) without key by drilling them out. As there are several YouTube posts on how to remove a wheel lock using a slightly smaller socket and hammer I could not find one showing this method. On several Volvo alloy wheels there is not enough space to hammer on a socket without damaging the wheel itself. How To Replace a Front Wheel Drive Axle - EricTheCarGuy
If you start to notice your FWD vehicle clicking when you make a tight turn, you might have an issue with the outer CV joint. If you make a right turn, it's usually the left side that's bad and vice versa. Most axles are easy to replace and the one depicted in this video is fairly typical of what you run into. The main differences come in with how the lower ball joint is attached. I think this part will give you the most trouble. I often get asked about what to torque the axle nut to. To be hones, I don't know. I've only ever run them down with my impact. I've never had an issue doing it that way and I don't think you would either. Just be sure to stake the nut or install the cotter pin and retaining clip if it has one.
