1979 Pontiac Lemans Pro Street for sale in our Louisville Showroom

1979 Pontiac Grand Lemans. This mean machine is powered by a 602 Cid V-8 that is believed to make over 800hp. Helping generate the power is a Holly Dominator carb, Edelbrock intake, HEI distributor, MSD 6AL box and Accel 10.8mm spark plug wires. The engine breathes through Hooker headers and dual Exhaust with polished mufflers. Turing the power into speed is a built 700R4 automatic transmission with a 2500 Stahl converter which turns a narrowed 12 bolt posi rear end with strange axles and 4.11 gears. The car has an adjustable ladder bar rear suspension with adjustable coil over shocks and to stop there are cross drilled front disc brakes and Wilwood rear disc brakes. The power meets the road through aluminum Weld Racing rims wrapped with Mickey Thompson 31x18.5 tires. The body is painted in a bright yellow which is contrasted by the custom graphics on the hood of the yellow being torn away to reveal airbrushed grey fleur-de-lis underneath. The hood also sports a fiberglass scoop that has been molded onto the steel hood. The interior holds two racing seats with 4 point harnesses, roll cage, B&M shifter, GT Grant wheel, a dash full of AutoMeter Gauges, flip up sunroof and fire extinguisher. But this car was not built for the strip alone, it has some creature comforts such as the power steering, power brakes, Alpine CD player, JBL amp hooked to Audiovox speakers and Infinity subs. Other options include AM/FM radio, CD, Power brakes, power seats, tilt wheel, seat belts, vinyl interior radial tires and aluminum alloy wheels. Pontiac Banshee A Longer Look
The Banshee was a vision for what the Firebird could become. Of course, this concept car could never be built exactly, too low on the road and it wouldn't pass the safety and crash tests, but it was exciting. It demonstrated that the problem with GM cars didn't sit on the designers' shoulders. They were more than capable of dreaming up engaging and fun vehicles that would set imaginations on fire.

Pontiac, basically cut a 389 V8 in half...in fact, it uses the same head as the 389 and the 421. In this case, the four cylinder is backed by a four-speed manual and a set of 3.73 Gears with Posi. 900 HP Supercharged Big-Block 1972 Corvette Stingray Pro Street
I thought you might like a look at this awesome Pro Street 1972 Chevrolet Corvette. This beast is powered by a massive supercharged 509 Big-Block Chevy, topped with two Holley 850 carbs. This engine is equipped with a steel crank, stainless steel valves, roller cam, and Dart heads. This car was definitely built to run. All of that horsepower is being sent through a turbo 400 Automatic, with a 4,000 RPM Stall converter, back to a narrowed Ford 9 inch rear with 4.10 gears. The car is painted in pearl white with ghost flames and features a cowl hood, hood pins, centerline wheels, and wheelie bars. PONTIAC - "The Super Duty Story" Part 1 of 3
Pontiac had an SD engine program in the late 50s early 60s, and later/briefly again in 1973/74 with the SD455. This video is regarding the FIRST Super Duty program.---In only a few years time during the late 50s early 60s, Pontiac MORE THAN DOUBLED their V8's horsepower output (described in this video), while using/keeping the same V8 engine block they used thru 1955-81. Even though the same block was kept, from 1955-62 the cubic inch displacement grew much larger than the initial 287 cuber it started as in 1955. It grew to a 317 347 370 389 and finally a 421 cuber in 1962. It eventually maxed out at 455 cubes in 1970. By 1970 ALL the other GM divisions were producing engines at 454 or 455 cubes (500 for Cadillac). PONTIAC WAS THE ONLY DIVISION still using the same block they used in the 1950s on engines that had a much smaller displacement -- 287 cubes. The 1955 287 displacement would remain the smallest displacement ever used in the Pontiac V8 block all the way until 1980/81 when a 265V8 was produced. Since less durability was required for the smaller displacement, the block was decked/butchered/lightened on the 265/301v8s of 1980/81. Prior to 1980 the block had never been decked/butchered/lightened. The 1980/81 265/301v8 blocks were about 200 pounds lighter than the 1955-79 blocks, and only 25 pounds heavier than a Buick 231V6.

For sale is a 1991 Camaro that started out as a v6 car and was turned into a v8 street strip car. I am selling it because i have gotten into motocross. I have owned the car for 6 years now and it was only a one owner car before i got it. it is very clean and has never seen snow or rain. i just painted the car a two years ago using DuPont paint. it is very dusty shines very nice. i have had the car on the track a couple times. Could handle a big block if you decided to put one in it. Growing up.....Pontiac/Oldsmobile old timers/EXPERTS who taught me most of what I know, often told me Chevy rated their horsepower in a more optimistic way than say Oldsmobile or Pontiac. I've even heard Pontiac rated/tested their engines in a 100 degree room, compared to Chevy in a 60 degree room. These Dyno results seem to reflect that some of what I heard was true. Both of these engines are great, but the results do seem to show that Pontiac was not rating their horsepower worrying if it would cause "songs to be written" about their engines .... like the great song "She's real fine my 409"--(Chevy).
