If you're a hot hatch-making legend like Honda, how do you work out the
reaction to your new car after years without a performance model?
Well, it's simple: you bring along your comeback kid, the new Honda Civic
Type R Concept, here to the wonderful Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium,
you invite along 200 die-hard Civic Type R owners from all across Europe,
you show them the car, and you ask: do you like it?
The new Honda Civic Type R turbo car's
2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC will develop
between 276 and 300bhp according to Honda, which is delivered to the front
wheels via a limited-slip differential and an old-school manual gearbox.
Honda promises this will be the fastest front-wheel drive road car on the
Nurburgring and look almost as tasty as this very menacing design study.
Watch the video to find out what the fans thought of the concept car , and
to hear out our drive in the incredible Honda Civic Type R Mugen.
If Honda can sprinkle just some of the fairy dust of that car, especially
when it's at about 9000rpm, on to the new turbo Civic Type R, and then if it delivers on
that Nurburgring promise of being the fastest FWD car ever to lap the
Nordschleife then surely that'll make it one of the best hot hatches on the
planet. We can't wait to find out.

Honda Civic Rebirth
My 1991 Honda Civic hatchback rebuild. The car was in really bad shape and
desperately needed TLC, so I went ahead and restored her from scratch with
the help of a few buddies who run a shop. The whole process took about 9
months, hence 'The Rebirth' title which seems to go along well like it's a
new born baby.
The motor is B16A with: CTR pistons, full Omni valvetrain, CAT cams, ITR
IM, Mild P&P head, H22A injectors, OBD1 converted, and stock B16A header.
The Exhaust is Apexi WS2. The actual
numbers at the dynapack are pretty embarrassing (I was just trying to get
her to run efficiently for the emissions test, which she passed no
problem). I have no idea what this motor is capable of. I'll post more
vids once she's fully tuned. Props to Nick at Teknotik for the tuning.
*Parts alone for this project costed about $5K to 6K. I did the labor with
the help of my buddies and bodywork was done by an affiliate. So I spent
roughly $10K in total. I plan to keep this car forever so I don't see 10K
as much money at all.
Redline Review: 2014 Honda Civic Coupe
After an emergency refresh last year, Honda shocks us yet again with
another thorough round of changes to its popular Civic compact car. This
time, the coupe gets a completely re-done front fascia, updated wheels, and
new tech features inside the cabin. Under the hood, we find a bit more
power and a new automatic transmission bringing the Civic up to par with
its top rivals in this extremely competitive class. Are the changes enough
to make this car feel new?
