The civic felt luxury car smooth witch included drastically reduced wind and road noise and the engine has a nice humm to it without intruding alot into the cabin when accelerating. another feature i like is the mini display next to the speedometer . this colored screen shows you radio stations , average fuel economy, oil life, temperature and lighting setting, maintenance info and it allows you to add wall paper to the background by using a ipod and connecting it into the standard USB connection in the arm rest compartment. Seats are more comforming and less firm compared to the previous model. I can definetly see myself taking long road trips in this car.

At the 2010 Los Angeles Design Challenge, the designers from the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Carlsbad, California, surprised everyone with a revolutionary vision. Taking their inspiration from nature, they designed a vehicle which is fully integrated into the ecosystem, from the moment of its creation right through to the end of its service life. The Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept grows in a completely organic environment from seeds sown in a nursery. Out on the road the car emits pure oxygen, and at the end of its lifespan it can be simply composted or used as building material. "As the inventor of the motor car, we wanted to illustrate the vision of the perfect vehicle of the future, which is created and functions in complete symbiosis with nature. The Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept is a natural technology hybrid, and forms part of our earth's ecosystem. It grows and thrives like the leaves on a tree" according to Hubert Lee, Head of the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Carlsbad. This year the competition had called for the creation of a vision of a safe and comfortable 2+2 compact car featuring good handling and a first-class design, and weighing only 1,000 lbs (around 454 kg/kerb weight). Mercedes-Benz symbiosis - a partnership with nature The Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept symbiosis vehicle is made from an ultralight material called BioFibre and tips the scales at just 875.5 lbs (around 394 kg). This material is significantly lighter than metal or plastic, yet more robust than steel. BioFibre is grown from proprietary DNA in the Mercedes-Benz nursery, where it collects energy from the sun and stores it in a liquid chemical bond called BioNectar4534. As part of this process, the vehicle is created from two seeds: The interior of the BIOME grows from the DNA in the Mercedes star on the front of the vehicle, while the exterior grows from the star on the rear. To accommodate specific customer requirements, the Mercedes star is genetically engineered in each case, and the vehicle "grows" when the genetic code is combined with the seed capsule. The wheels are grown from four separate seeds. The Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept is powered by BioNectar4534, which is stored in the BioFibre material of the chassis, interior, and wheels. In addition, Mercedes-Benz has developed a technology to equip trees with special receptors which can collect the excess solar energy and turn it into BioNectar4534. This creates a direct link with nature's energy sources and acts as an incentive to cover mobility energy requirements through more trees and at the same time maintain natural resources. Like plants, the Mercedes-Benz symbiosis vehicle also produces oxygen, thereby contributing to improving air quality. At the end of its service life, the Mercedes-Benz BIOME can be fully composted or used as building material. Thanks to the exclusive use of green technologies, the BIOME vehicle thus blends seamlessly into the ecosystem.

Toyota apresenta Corolla 2012 A Toyota apresenta ao mercado brasileiro a linha Corolla 2012. Com a intensão clara de manter a liderança no segmento. O facelift  aposta em tornar o carro esportivo e sofisticado, com novos equipamentos de série, acabamento interno aprimorado e nova família de motores e transmissões para as versões 1.8L 16V Flex. A linha Corolla 2012, à venda nas concessionárias a partir do dia 29 de março, começa em R$ 64.500,00 na versão Xli 1.8 e vai até R$ 87.500,00 na versão Altis, a mais equipada. MOTOR A grande novidade técnica da linha Corolla 2012 é a introdução de uma nova família de motores para as versões XLi e GLi. Ambas agora são equipadas com um propulsor 1.8L 16V Dual VVT-i Flex, que substitui o 1.8L VVT-i Flex. De construção leve e compacta e com alta rigidez, o novo motor tem concepção similar aos motores 2.0L 16V Dual VVT-i Flex, introduzidos na linha Corolla no ano passado, também adotando bloco, cárter e cabeçote de alumínio. A potência máxima para as versões 1.8L, com a utilização de álcool, subiu de 136 cv a 6.000 rpm para 144 cv a 6.000 rpm. Com gasolina, a potência cresceu de 132 cv a 6.000 rpm para 139 cv a 6.000 rpm. O torque também foi elevado de 17,5 kgf.m a 4.200 rpm para 18,2 kgf.m a 4.800 giros (com álcool) e de 17,3 kgf.m a 4.200 rpm para 17.7 kgf.m a 4.400 giros (com gasolina). O motor 2.0L 16V Dual VVT-i presente nas versões XEi e Altis permanece com potência de 153 cv, com álcool, e de 142 cv, com gasolina, nas duas configurações atingidas a 5.800 rpm, enquanto o torque atinge 20,3 kgf.m (álcool) e 19,4 kgf.m (gasolina) a 4.000 rpm. Outro destaque técnico do Corolla 2012 é o ar-condicionado com compressor de volume variável, que permite um gerenciamento mais eficiente do sistema e consequente funcionamento linear do equipamento, captando menos energia do motor. O resultado dessa alteração é a melhora no consumo de combustível e do conforto na cabine. Sistema da direção elétrica e ajuste de suspensão têm acertos específicos de acordo com a motorização que permitem ao condutor dirigir o Corolla com o melhor balanço entre conforto e desempenho. TRANSMISSÃO Com relação à transmissão, linha Corolla 2012 traz como novidade a introdução do novo câmbio manual de seis velocidades, que equipa as versões 1.8L Dual VVT-i Flex (XLi e GLi). Essa transmissão tem uma relação de marchas equilibrada para trabalhar em sintonia com o novo motor com duplo comando de válvulas variável, proporcionando excelente desempenho e suavidade na condução do modelo. Adicionalmente ao novo câmbio manual de seis velocidades, a linha Corolla 2012 tem como carro-chefe dois tipos de transmissão automática de quatro velocidades, com escalonamento e gerenciamento de marchas e construção adequadas para cada um dos motores: 1.8L Dual VVT-i Flex e 2.0L Dual VVT-i Flex. Em comum, as caixas trazem a tecnologia Super ECT (Eletronic Control Transmission), que analisa as condições de uso do veículo (ladeira, subida, trânsito, etc) e, em função disso, seleciona e mantém a marcha mais adequada para a condição encontrada. A atuação do Super ECT ainda evita mudanças desnecessárias de marcha, otimizando o desempenho e reduzindo o nível de emissão de poluentes e o consumo de combustível. A diferença das transmissões é que, no caso dos modelos equipados com motor 2.0L Dual VVT-i Flex, há opção de trocas seqüenciais por meio da própria alavanca de câmbio na posição "S" ou ainda por meio de borboletas localizadas atrás do volante. INTERIOR Internamente o Corolla também sofreu alterações. A Toyota adotou um novo padrão de tecido para o banco das versões XLi e GLi. As partes plásticas na tonalidade cinza das versões XLi, GLi e XEi estão mais claras e a parte superior do painel ficou mais escura. Para a versão Altis, o acabamento em padrão madeira também foi escurecido, proporcionando um contraste com o acabamento bege Premium. A versão de entrada XLi, a partir de agora, oferece como item de série alarme com fechamento na chave e travamento automático das portas com o veículo a 20km/h e entrada auxiliar no sistema de som. As maiores novidades, no entanto, estão concentradas nas versões XEi e Altis. Ambas trazem, a partir da linha 2012, conectividade USB para iPod, Pen Drive e MP3/MP4 no sistema de som e Bluetooth com reprodução da agenda telefônica no visor do CD Player. O modelo top de linha Altis se diferencia pela exclusividade de possuir a câmera de visão traseira, que é automaticamente acionada assim que o motorista engata à marcha à ré, reproduzindo a com amplitude a visão do motorista em manobras no retrovisor interno.
