2014 Audi RS5 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 507 Coupe! - Head 2 Head Ep. 51
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover which
German hot-rod-personal-luxury-coupe is the best you can get. The 507 Coupe
is the last iteration of the W204 C63. With the exception of the very
limited-run Black Series, it's the best C63 that AMG has ever done. Under
its hood sits a hand-built, 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 good for 507
more do you want? Perhaps something more high-tech, and that's where the
Audi RS5 comes in. The sexy coupe from Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm features
a 4.2-liter V-8 that spits out 450 hp. That¹s less power than the 507
Coupe makes, true, but the Audi also features AWD, a dual-clutch
transmission, bigger wheels and tires, plus a trick torque-vectoring rear
differential. Which one is quicker? Which one is more fun to drive? Which
one is best? Watch and find out!

provided on this trip. Better some video than no video*

Audi RS4 Avant vs Vauxhall VXR8 Tourer (Holden HSV Clubsport) - performance estate car showdown
The Audi RS4 Avant and Vauxhall VXR8 Tourer are both V8 high-performance
estate cars, but their execution couldn't be more different.

It's amazing that two £50,000 sporting V8 estate cars can be as different
as the Audi RS4 Avant and Vauxhall VXR8 Tourer in character. The RS4 is turbocharged, four-wheel drive with a
seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and impeccable fit and finish. The Holden
HSV Clubsport-based Vauxhall VXR8 is big-hearted, rear-wheel drive, manual
and has a comparatively old-school interior. Steve Sutcliffe drove them
both flat-out to see if German precision could overcome the tyre-smoking
brawn of the 6.2-litre VXR8.

We test the BMW M4 against the benchmark setting fast coupe, the Audi RS5.

The arrival of a new BMW M car is always big news for performance car fans,
and the new M4 is no exception.
Costing almost £60,000, the replacement for the legendary old BMW M3, the
M4 has moved away from the V8 power plant in the old car, and is now
powered by a 425bhp twin-turbocharged
Meanwhile, the similarly prices Audi RS5 is propelled by a 4.0-litre V8,
which produces 430bhp. It's also mated to the Audi quattro four-wheel drive
system. Like the BMW, it also features a dual-clutch gearbox, the Audi S
There's no denying the Audi lacks the fun factor of the BMW - the quattro
four-wheel-drive system prevents the lurid powerslides than you can really
go for in the M4. You can also feel the weight of the engine over the front
axle in the RS5, but it certainly doesn't feel slow at all.
Overall then, the RS5 feels very punchy, and the gearshift is also really
nice - the same can be said for its V8 soundtrack. It's not a track machine
though, and the car from Neckarsulm is more of a very stable and very rapid
Meanwhile, the BMW M4 feels very raw and very serious, especially when all
the settings are put at their sportiest via the M1 switch on the steering
wheel. These also turn the traction control and stability control off.
With no electronic aids, the M4 is always trying to get its tail out.
However, the body control is amazing, but there is a feeling that it's all
a bit artificial. The same can be said for the engine note, which has been
The M4 is a proper M car though, and something BMW can be truly proud of.
It set a lap time of 1m09.9s, compared to the 1m12.2s set by the Audi -
that's 2.3s quicker.
