Patrol helicopter tapes illegal street race
(Lincoln, NE)- Two Lincoln residents are cited for racing on a roadway as
the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Air Wing video tapes the race.
Shortly before 9:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2009, troopers with the Nebraska
State Patrol Headquarters Troop-Lincoln were conducting a special selective
utilizing the NSP Helicopter, when the pilots spotted what appeared to be
road racing taking place near North 70th Street & McCormick Drive in
The helicopter pilots observed several races as ground units made their way
to the location. At the conclusion of one of the races a trooper was able
to initiate a traffic stop on a black 1991 Eagle Talon, driven by
21-year-old Michael Marnik of Lincoln, and a 2001 white Chevy Camaro Z28 driven by 22-year-old
Andrew Campbell, also of Lincoln.
