Wow! What a rare car! I think everyone is familiar with the Hertz Mustang rental arrangement (see the
Hertz 2006 Mustang video I
uploaded). That was a salute to the same program with the 1966 350H Mustangs delivered to Hertz.
Before I saw this car, I was not aware of the program involving Cougars!
This is a great example of a rare car, with plenty of authentication
including a Marti report. It illustrates how educational a car show can
be...some specific cars you've never seen before, and, thanks to the owner,
a primer on the history of the car!

1970 Cougar Eliminator in Texas Motor Speedway
We took our 1970 Cougar Eliminator (Competition Green) (1 of only 59 made
in this color, engine and drive train code) to the Goodguys Texas Lonestar
National Car Show at the Texas Motor Speedway Octo 2-4, 2009. We loved
driving into the speedway and on the infield. Our car was the only
Eliminator at the show. Very rare and in great shape after restoration.
My friend Mike was the lead in the rebuild over about 3 years.
Front Suspension & Chassis Upgrades - '68 Cougar / Mustang
In this video, we show some of the ways you can easily stiffen your car's
chassis and upgrade your front suspension. Using Andrew's '68 Cougar as a
guinea pig, we bolt on, and weld on, some simple parts that will make a big
difference in reducing the torsional flex that these front ends are prone
to, as well as improving the integrity of the shock towers.

Electric Hideaway Headlight Actuator Conversion: 1967-1968 Mercury Cougar
In this video, we show how to replace your early Cougar's vacuum-operated
hideaway headlight system with a simpler, more reliable electric conversion
kit. This kit includes two remanufactured Ford Probe headlight motors, a
custom wiring harness, and custom bracketry and hardware for this specific
application, making installation simple.
