Holley 4150 Street HP carb rebuild- Tear- Down-Part 1/3
here is a video i made when I rebuilt my Holley 4150 Street HP carburetor
that I purchased at a swap meet. It turns out it was in very clean
condition and would not have needed rebuilding but I wanted to make sure it
was clean inside. It was a good experience doing the rebuild. It's always
good to learn something new. I am not a pro and this is my first Carb
teardown so those folks that feel compelled to say what is wrong with what
they see, please don't bother. Remember what your Mom said, "if you can't
say something nice..."

Carburetor Selection & What a Carburetor Does - Summit Racing Quick Flicks
A carburetor is an air valve that controls the amount of air and fuel
entering the engine.
The positioning of the butterfly in carburetor dictates how much air and
fuel enter the engine. CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute), as described in the
video, defines the amount of air and fuel passing through the carburetor.
There are three factors when deciding which carburetor is right for your
1. Engine cubic inch displacement (CID)
2. Maximum rpm
3. How will the vehicle will be used
The formula for selecting the proper CFM is:
CID x Maximum RPM x Volume Efficiency / 3456

Tuning the Holley 850 Carb that comes with the Chevy 502/502 Crate Engine
was a fun but often frustrating task. Ultimately had to replace with an
850 Double Pumper. Even the Double Pumper needed modifications to meet our
