Audi A8 W12 6.0 Top Speed 295km/h
This is a software upgraded W12 12 cylinder 6.0 liter (366Cubic inches) engine at around 500hp. The run was done on a professionally monitored speedway. The speedometer went beyond the marked area, but would most definitely show about 320km/h. You can compare the speedometer numbers with the GPS numbers - the GPS is precise. The max speed should be around 300km/h (188mp/h)on high octane gas, this run was done on regular gas.

On the heels of a redesigned A8, Audi unleashed a performance variant, the S8, for 2013. Though it's four cylinders short of the 12-cylinder A8 W12, the S8's twin-turbo V-8 makes more power and is the most powerful sedan Audi has built. Competitors include the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG and Jaguar XJ SuperSport.
The S8 is based on the regular-length A8, not the extended-wheelbase A8 L. In line with Audi's S treatment, the S8 has subtle changes versus the A8. Among them are a tweaked grille, modified side sills, a rear bumper air diffuser and quad tailpipes. Twenty-one-inch alloy wheels are standard. A sport-tuned adaptive air suspension has three selectable ride heights.
Diamond-stitched leather seats with heating, ventilation and massaging functions are standard. The instruments have unique white-on-gray detailing. Audi's drive select program allows drivers to dial in specific settings for drivetrain, steering and suspension response.
Under the Hood
With a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 cranking out 520 horsepower and 479 pounds-feet of torque — nearly as much horsepower and a lot more torque than Audi's R8 V-10 supercar — the S8 should hit 60 mph in about 4 seconds. Thanks in part to a cylinder deactivation feature, the new S8 consumes 23 percent less fuel than its V-10 S8 predecessor while making 15 percent more power, Audi says.
An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard.
The S8's brakes measure a colossal 15.7 inches up front and 14 inches in back, with six-piston front calipers. That's about the same size as the front discs on a Ferrari FF. A bevy of airbags, antilock brakes and an electronic stability system are standard. Options include lane departure and blind spot warning systems, forward collision warning with automatic braking, and night vision with pedestrian detection.

On the outside the Audi A8 is beautiful from the grill all the way to the taillights, under the hood lies a powerful V-8 engine, and inside the driver and passengers are treated to an ultra luxurious experience. But owning a high end luxury car does not come cheap. The base model (normal wheelbase) has an MSRP of $78,750, while the Long Wheelbase version tested here starts at $84,700. But the ultimate 2012 Audi A8 is the Long Wheelbase edition with the W12 engine which starts at $133,500.
The 2012 Audi A8-L is powered by a 4.2 liter V-8 engine that produces 372 horsepower and 328 lb-ft. of torque. While not the most powerful car in the full sized luxury segment; the engine in combination with an 8-speed automatic transmission does a great job of putting the power down to the ground through standard Quattro all-wheel drive. The 2012 Audi A8-L can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 5.8 seconds. Fuel economy is excellent with the A8 netting 18 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. The engine is exposed which is great and there are wonderfully contrasting colors in the engine bay that really grab your attention.
On the outside the 2012 Audi A8 is a very stylish car which is sure to get you noticed. The massive chrome grill looks great and really stands out. The Xenon headlights combined with the world famous LED running lights are signature Audi. The A8 also has a set of huge 19-inch alloy wheels at all four corners.
On the inside the Audi A8 is plenty spacious with enough room for 4 adults and all their belongings. The A8-L is the long wheelbase version and this platform stretches the amount of interior room a couple more inches. The interior of the car makes you feel like you are in a luxurious living room. Everything is beautiful and Audi did a great job of finding the perfect balance between woods and metals that make up the trim pieces. All the buttons and controls are top notch since Audi understands what a luxury buyer demands. The A8-L is a real driver's car; it is response and fun to drive.
The 2012 Audi A8 is a true joy to drive. It you are going to spend $80k on a high end luxury car then you owe it to yourself to take a long test drive. When shopping for a full sized luxury automobile make a checklist and compare the various cars in the segment. Audi has really captured the essence of what a luxury car should be with the 2012 Audi A8-L.
