Gramps the 11 Second Car - Part 13
We raise gramps from the dead...
Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are
not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you
how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you
will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone
else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible
and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious
machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a
qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

70 Double Blown GTO
My 1970 GTO with two blowers. It's 474ci Pontiac engine with a 8-71 blower
on top of a 6-71 blower. This is from the last day of being double blown.
I'm going to one single 8-71 blower and going racing. The front clip was
removed to make it easier to work on. The reason for the double blowers was
not as a power enhancement like many ASSume. I stacked the blowers to have
a car that stood out in the crowd. Most Pro Street cars were starting to
blend together. If you seen one, you had seen them all. That wasn't the
case with this GTO. Al someone had to say was "The double blower GTO" and
people knew which car. I was told it couldn't be done, so I attempted it
and it worked. It stayed that way for almost 2 years. I knew a twin turbo setup would make more HP. I knew I could
have run a 14-71 blower and made more power. That wasn't the point. I
wanted to be different than the other cars in the parking lot, I did that
now it's time to ove on. For all those people who don't understand why,
I'm not going to try and explain it to you anymore. Get over it. I didn't
expect EVERYONE to love it. But you won't forget it.
4 Jet Car Drag Race
Under the definition of "awesome" should be a picture of 4-jet cars racing!
NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals at ZMax Dragway in Charlotte, NC ended the
night by lighting up ZMax's 4 drag lanes with the fire and the thunder of 4
jet turbine drag cars creating an estimated 24,000 HP on one track! The
Embry Riddle dragster takes off and runs a 5-second quarter.
Nova's blown 383
This is a blown 383 (706 hp) in a '67 Chevy Nova. This little video was
taken the first time it was cranked. Still not drivable yet, because it's
in the process of being tubbed right now. Gonna be a blast!!
UPDATE AS OF 11-14-07: All chrome, windshields, interior, etc. has been
stripped and the car is in the paint shop. We should have it back soon and
then it's on to upholstery shop. I took a couple pics of it yesterday and
it's lookin' good. It's a metallic tangerine/orange candy. GRAB YOUR
My excuse for the picture quality of the video is that I had a new digital
camera and didn't know much about how to work it yet.
Motes & Williams Twin Engine Dragster 3
The Motes and Williams car was `70 & `71 NHRA World Champion in Top Gas. In
1970 it won the Springnationals and World Finals. In 1971 it won the
Springnationals and U.S. Nationals.I hope you enjoy my current Motes &
Williams footage. This was taken Oct 2001, Mike Newkirk at the wheel. RC
Williams and Greg Cook starting the car and me, I'm behind the camera. I
don't remember, but this was one of the first times the car ran since we
restored it. Wish I had my camera with me at John Laubhan's shop during the
