open header run of new 351 cleveland
Open header start up of of my freshly gone through 351C in a 70 cougar. My camera doesn't like open header, so forgive the crappy sound.
Street racing in 1979, Dieters 1970 Cougar
Dieter's 1970 Cougar Eliminator (former NHRA Super Stock car) with a modified Boss 351C motor, (very rare), street racing an all out 1969 Camaro drag car in 1979. Old school street racing where it all began and the way it was back then. NO juice in those days, and healthy small blocks were making about 425 HP.
1969 Mercury Couger XR7 351 Windsor
Can't remember this fella's name...It isn't mine. Even though the owner admitted the car isn't in show stopper condition...yet, he was the ONLY Cougar on the lot at the show. And that's why I like the car. At 42 yrs old, there are some occasional electrical gremlins (not affiliated with AMC) that bedevil the owner. But, we all must persevere through the aggrevation. My Comet certainly has its issues. It's a 351 Windsor, C-6 w/9inch rear. Taken at Abingdon, MD Lowes in September 2011.
1970 Cougar dealer filmstrip: Action Cat For Active People
Salesman's training filmstrip for the 1970 Cougar. It's engines, it's options, differences between Standard and XR-7. The Eliminator, the convertible. Things salespersons should know to help them sell the cars.
My '70 Ranchero & 351-C, 1st pass
My old heavy, rusty, & beat up 70 Ranchero from way back in 1989. This was back when doing a bunch of dry-hops after the burnout was part of the fun. 3600-3700 lbs, 351-C, FMX trans, ancient NOS Nitrous, & small worn-out slicks. Ran 6.70's 1/8 mile with fresh slicks, 6.90's spinning with dead slicks. Original video copied VHS, converted later to DVD.
Mercury Cougar - American Muscle Car
An excellent TV show featuring the classic Mercury Cougar. They cover all the classic years, and talk about all the different engines and option packages you could get. Only a couple minor mistakes (they say the that XR-7 package included a 4-speed stick, then show an automatic shifter in one... derrr) but overall a very nice overview of these cars.
