The VW Tiguan is good to drive, thanks to responsive engines and a finely balanced chassis. It has a pleasingly smart image, too, with a classy, spacious and flexible cabin.
It's not as cheap as some Japanese rivals and the ride is too firm. Rear visibility isn't great, while off-road ability is limited.

2012 Volkswagen Tiguan Track and Style Offroad Driving
http://www.eurocarnews.com - Volkswagen AG - 28 degrees: The powerful off-road version is offered in the Track & Field equipment line (base model) that is familiar from its predecessor and for the first time in a new top version, the Track & Style. With a 28 degree angle of approach, the Tiguan can even handle greater challenges off-road. Beneath the rugged redesigned bumper, underbody protection ensures the well-being of powertrain components. Visually, the central air intake is designed to be very flat in favour of underbody protection. Towards the sides of the SUV, the bumper is bordered by the protected, integrated fog lights. The grey underbody protection itself, which has three distinctive openings, was laterally framed by black air-flow guides.

Sport Packages on today's modern SUV are becoming more and more popular. Look around the roads today and you'll see more M-Sport X5s, S-Line Audis and AMG-trimmed Mercedes' than ever before. Volkswagen is pleased to introduce the Tiguan R-Line exclusively on Highline models beginning this year. The vehicle featured here shown in Deep Black.
The Tiguan is the most successful SUV in the European market, and as the "GTI of SUVs" there's little question why. All Tiguan's come equipped with the same powerful and efficient 2.0T found in the GTI and Volkswagen CC, and benefits from 4Motion AWD in this Highline model. Other features found on the Highline model include a fantastic Panoramic Sunroof, Leather seating, Climatronic dual-zone control and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Now, the R-Line. On the exterior this SUV is really set off by these bold 19" Mallory alloy wheels fitted inside tidy flared wheel arches. Also standard on R-line are bi-xenon headlamps with LED running lights, and polished roof rack rails. R-line also includes body-coloured painted side trim, shown in Deep Black here. A tall rear spoiler adds some nice edge out back.
The interior wasn't excluded from the updates. Inside you'll notice the steering wheel normally reserved for our GTI, and it includes paddle shifters. Also unique is the black roofliner, also reserved for our GTI but now standard on R-line models - this adds a sporty feel inside. Metal pedal caps and door sills remind you this Tiguan is different from the rest.
For exterior colours, the R-line Tiguan is available this year in Deep Black, Reflex Silver, Candy White, Pepper Grey and Night Blue Metallic.

Despite a firm ride and limited off-road ability, the Audi Q5 is still a very desirable car. Aimed at the Land Rover Freelander 2, it has the build quality and refinement of an Audi saloon but the practicality and space of a larger 4x4, so it's an excellent compromise.

Tiguan - small river crossing - Ubatuba, Brazil
VW Tiguan 4Motion Sport&Style off-road capabilities.
I was already aware of the water crossing limits of the car, so I was not about to cross this small river.
However my Wife challenged it, teasing me.
I crossed it first, then I let her to cross it back so I coud make the video.
I have to confess I got concerned as I underestimated the depth when entering through the opposite margin.
But the Tiguan made it very well.
