1963 1/2 Galaxie 500 XL Running
This is a video of my 63 Galaxie. It's got a healthy 390 with AC, power steering and power brakes. I've swapped out the generator for an alternator, rebuilt the front suspension and replaced the springs. The brake system has been completely rebuilt including the lines and the fluid converted over to DOT 5.
I've had a ball putting this Galaxie together. Thanks for looking.
1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie XL - Completely Restored - SOLD!
This 1963 ½ Ford Galaxie XL has had a full frame up restoration. The motor was replaced with a 1968 428 Police Interceptor motor built by Cope Performance Associates—and in other words—is one hot ride! While this was done somewhere between 1997-1999 there are only about 10K miles since it was finished and there are over $35K invested.
Modifications to the engine include it being bored .30 over, it has a Hurd hydraulic cam, forged pistons, and Edelbrock RPM performer manifold, a Holley CJ 735 CFM carburetor, 427 cast iron headers, 2-1/2 inch Flowmasters, 4 speed large spline top load and 3:89 rear gears.
A complete interior package from Dearborn Classics that included door panels, seat covers, new seat padding, kick panels and carpeting was installed. The interior looks like it did the day it left the factory. The paint and body work were done at R & T Classic Auto Body.
Originally, it was a Z-code 390 but by the time our seller purchased what was left of the car it was obvious it had had a hard life. Along with the above description of what was done there is also a massive step by step picture album of the restoration that took place to make this car what it is today. This car is even more outstanding in person than it is in pictures or video.
This sports coupe has won many many awards and has been featured in magazines including a full spread in Legendary Ford Magazine. Not only has there been a step by step pictorial of the car, but all receipts are also available. A very thorough and expensive appraisal has just been done on the car and will be available to a serious buyer in a .pdf format. 1962 FORD GALAXIE SUNLINER CONVERTIBLE, CATCH SOME SUN IN THIS ONE
GALAXIE 500'S WERE NAMED AFTER THE 500 MILE RACES OF WHICH FORD PRODUCTS STARRED. THIS YEAR FORD PRODUCED 42,646 SUNLINER CONVERTIBLES AT A DEALER PRICE OF $2,924. CARRIED FORWARD FROM 1961 WAS THE TRADEMARK BIG ROUND TAIL LIGHTS. THE POWERPLANT IN THIS ONE IS THE 390 CID V-8 WITH 340 HP. BUT ALSO IN '62, ALONG CAME AT MIDYEAR THE 500XL THAT WAS PROPELLED BY A 406 CID V-8 WHICH WAS FORD'S FIRST 400 PLUS CUBE ENGINE. THE 500XL WAS THE COSTLIEST FORD EXCEPT T-BIRDS. THIS LONG, SLEEK RED RAG TOP IS IN SHOWROOM CONDITION. THE TRUNK MOUNTED ANTENNA, ORIGINAL JACK AND TIRE IRON IN THE SPACIOUS CLEAN TRUNK, THE CHROMED REAR FENDER SKIRTS, AND DETAILED ENGINE COMPARTMENT SETS THIS SUNLINER CONVERTIBLE UP AS A VERY SEXY RED HOT FORD. 428 FE Ford Stroked to 462 with EZ EFI on dyno - 538 Horsepower
Ford 428 engine stroked to 462 cubes. Victor intake with FAST multiport EZ-EFI system. Hydraulic roller cam. Mildly modified Edelbrock heads and 9.7:1 compression. Tested on 93 octane pump gas. Peak horsepower was 534 at 5900 RPM, peak torque was 540 @ 4600 RPM.
The steam from the breathers is just because the Dyno cell was COOOLD - it was around 10 degrees outside and every time we shut down the fans after a pull the room would drop temperature. You could see your breath in there.
1963 Ford Galaxie Lightweight 427 dyno run
Ford Galaxie on the Dyno. Car competes in Historic Touring Car races around Australia in Group Nc. Lex Davison and Sir Gawaine Baillie were among a few people to race these cars back in the Australian Touring Car Championship back in 1964. Most well known were the Sandown races where the Galaxie had lapped the whole field after just 5 laps!

Just got my new toy. Well was picking it up in this vid. Its a 62 Galaxie 2dr 390. Needs some TLC but its a great start and a driver even.
