First Drive Audi A9 Concept Prologue - Erste Fahrt im neuen Audi-Design
Gerade hat Audi seine zukunftweisende Studie auf der LA - Motorshow präsentiert. Er heißt Audi Prologue, aber wir nennen ihn A9 und wir sind ihn schon gefahren.

2014 Audi RS7 vs. 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe
BMW M6 Gran Coupe vs Audi RS7 Sportback Can Audi’s fiery 552bhp RS7 beat four-door coupe rival from BMW? Only the most powerful and exclusive Audis get to wear the hallowed RS badge. Yet the brand describes the latest addition to its ever-expanding range as “the most seductive model in Audi RS history”. The new RS7 Sportback combines the 552bhp twin-turbo V8 of the RS6 Avant with the sleek A7 body to create a luxurious four-seat coupé with supercar performance. It’s not the only upmarket, four-door coupé with a hugely powerful engine, because BMW has shoehorned the 552bhp 4.0-litre V8 from the M5 supersaloon into the sophisticated 6 Series Gran Coupe. But while the Audi is four-wheel drive, the BMW features a rear-wheel-drive layout that promises greater driver thrills. What our contenders have in common are eye-watering prices that wouldn’t look out of place on a bona fide supercar. So which one of our fast four-doors better justifies the cost? Head-to-head Engines The pressure to make engines ever cleaner and more fuel efficient has created a trend towards smaller capacities – which means that the days of the V8 may be numbered. Thankfully, BMW and Audi haven’t abandoned them just yet. These 552bhp turbos are epic – the Audi’s 4.0-litre has 20Nm more torque, but the BMW’s 4.4 generates its 680Nm peak torque output 250rpm sooner. Both deliver scintillating performance and tuneful soundtracks. Cylinder shut-off The RS7 gets Audi’s cylinder shut-off tech. This means the engine runs as a four-cylinder at low loads. Active engine mounts isolate extra vibrations, so you hardly notice it. Like the BMW, it also has fuel-saving stop-start. Putting it on the road Channelling more than 550bhp on to the road is a challenge, but with its quattro all-wheel drive and sports differential, the RS7 has the upper hand in terms of traction. The set-up features a standard 40:60 torque split, yet 85 per cent can be sent to the rear axle or 70 per cent to the front, depending on grip. While the rear-wheel-drive BMW includes a clever limited-slip differential, it works its traction control harder – although it always intervenes smoothly. On the track, you can go for a dynamic setting that gives you more freedom, or turn the electronic safety nets off completely for tyre-smoking tail slides. Worth considering Porsche Panamera turbo- The recently revised £107,903 Panamera turbo has the badge kudos, power and performance to match the two cars in this test, thanks to its thumping 513bhp turbocharged V8 engine. 1st place - BMW M6 It's very expensive (especially compared to the mechanically identical M5), but the M6 Gran Coupé looks and feels special. With its agile rear-drive chassis, it’s rewarding to drive and offers pleasures beyond its staggering performance. It’s also more comfortable than the Audi. 2nd place Audi RS7 With its powerful engine and quattro all-wheel drive, the RS7 offers supercar pace in a practical and stylish body. But while there’s lots of grip, the chassis disappoints, with an inert driving experience and an uncomfortable ride. And at this price you need more than just a great engine.

2014 Audi RS7 vs. 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe vs. 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG S-model
2014 Audi RS7 vs. 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe, 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG S-model Civil War: Ballistic power and lavish trimmings combine to create a breed of four-seat supersedans. TESTED We’ve watched two Gulfstreams and a Learjet touch down in a span of 30 minutes, taxi along the stretch of pavement we’re using as our provisional test track, and tuck into spotless hangars. Only the flight crews disembark from these planes. The nondescript southern German village of Schwäbisch Hall, population 40,000, isn’t the kind of place where you’d reside if you could afford to live anywhere. From what we can tell, this airfield is the EZ-In/EZ-Out parking garage for the planes of one-percenters who reside elsewhere. Suddenly, our collection of $100,000-plus four-seaters doesn’t seem so extravagant. Aside from a private jet, however, few vehicles make our test trio look humble. When you’re grounded, there’s no better way to travel than in Audi’s RS7, BMW’s M6 Gran Coupe, or Mercedes-Benz’s CLS63 AMG. Each of these three automakers has a larger, more opulent flagship if you intend to ride in the back seat. The RS7, the M6, and the CLS63, however, are the top machines for those who insist on driving. Speed barons, kings of luxury, and fashion slaves, these cars exist in the overlap of an exotic automotive Venn diagram. Germany’s de-restricted sections of autobahn are as close as the earthbound can get to the freedom of flying. Yet even 10-mile stretches aren’t enough to achieve top speeds, which in our cars are as high as 190 mph—a white van always seemed to veer into the left lane every few miles doing a mere 100 mph. A great test of the brakes, that. And because a tank of gas only lasts 40 minutes when there aren’t speed limits, we trekked away from the freeway to a sinuous, tree-lined hill-climb to understand how differentials, adaptive dampers, and gummy tires shrink these large cars when the road starts twisting. Audi waltzes into this bout with an overflowing trophy case. The A7 already knocked out the CLS550 and the 640i Gran Coupe in separate matchups. In our last Audi-BMW-Benz comparo [July 2012], the S6 shrugged off a roughly 100-hp deficit to topple the E63 AMG and the M5. This time around, Audi’s entry is fighting in its weight class. The RS7 comes from Quattro GmbH, Audi’s answer to the M and AMG organizations. As in the S6 and S7, its power comes from 4.0 liters of twin-turbocharged V-8, but the R in RS7 means 140 more horsepower and 110 more pound-feet of torque matched with a sophisticated suspension and, in the case of our test car, optional carbon-ceramic brakes. And as the only hatchback in this set, the RS7 boasts cargo space the others can’t match. BMW’s M6 Gran Coupe, on the other hand, faces an uphill battle. Its good looks can’t mask its close kinship to the disappointing M5 that placed last in our previous test. The Gran Coupe rides on the same 116.7-inch wheelbase, is powered by the same 4.4-liter blown V-8, and uses many of the same chassis components as its 5-series equivalent. Ponderous and plodding, the M5 shuns M-brand hallmarks of litheness and agility. But it should be noted that the M division’s philosophical approach with the Gran Coupe—how it tunes the bushings, springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars—sounds closer to how it views the sharper, sportier M6 coupe than the bulky M5 sedan. Visually, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is the same as last year’s car. Mechanically, one significant change has transformed it: 4MATIC four-wheel drive. Our tester is branded as a new “S-model,” a trim that replaces the old AMG performance package because a trunk badge helps retain resale value better than a window-sticker line item. More noteworthy, the S-model raises horsepower from 550 to 577, adds a limited-slip rear differential, and lifts the governed top speed from 155 to 186 mph. Spectacular as it is, this German power orgy isn’t complete. We also hoped to include one of the nine variations of Porsche’s recently refreshed Panamera. The turbo model comes closest in output with 520 horsepower (a turbo S is forthcoming), but it costs almost $30,000 more than the competition. The naturally aspirated Panamera GTS is priced on par with this group but gives up more than 100 horsepower to these turbocharged models. In the end, it didn’t matter what model we wanted because Porsche wouldn’t play. So we played without a Panamera.

2015 Audi S8 4.0T Quattro - WR TV POV Night Drive
This week we’re behind the wheel of the Audi’s full sized luxury sedan, the refreshed-for-2015 A8, here in performance specification as the S8. The big Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system is an ideal fit for Michigan’s currently wintery weather – so much so that we really couldn’t keep ourselves out of this bruiser from Ingolstadt and decided to include a third night time drive video to see how the S8 fared in the snowy conditions with compromised visibility. The S8 is powered by a twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that outputs a decidedly healthy 520 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque. That powerplant is hooked up to an 8-speed automatic transmission which sends the twist to all four wheels. That’s enough to get the nearly 4700-pound S8 to sixty miles per hour from a standstill in a mere 3.9 seconds on its way to an electronically limited 155 mile per hour top speed. Our tester’s 21-inch five-spoke alloys would normally be wrapped in 275/35R21 summer tires, but instead arrived with much more appropriate Dunlop SP Wintersport 3D rubber, which helped to bolster confidence behind the wheel in less-than-ideal weather. The 2015 Audi S8 starts at $114,900 with navigation, the aforementioned powertrain and various comfort and safety features like four-zone climate control and a heads up display as standard. Our tester came with a number of options including Bang and Olufsen advanced audio, a sport Exhaust system, and Audi Design interior appointments which bring the grand total to $132,225. Let’s see what that kind of coin gets you in a full-sized Audi luxury sports sedan. http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/wr-tv-2015-audi-s8/ Visit us at http://www.windingroad.com and http://www.windingroadracing.com Wear headphones!
