New V6 engine with innovative technology
The six-cylinder engine is part of the new V6 family of efficient direct injection engines. Known as BlueDIRECT, this innovation establishes the V-engines from Mercedes-Benz as worldwide benchmarks and makes a further reduction in fuel consumption by 20 percent possible by engine modifications alone.
The V-angle of the new V6 engine is only 60 degrees. This enables the balance shaft for primary vibrations to be omitted. As a result, the driver notices a high level of comfort. The crankcase, pistons and cylinder heads of the V6 are made of aluminum while the crankshaft, connecting rods and valves are built from special forged steel.
The technology in the new engine generation includes a number of new developments that are unique in combination:
Multi-spark ignition and third-generation spray-guided direct fuel injection system with piezo-electric injectors that offer more fuel savings through a homogenous combustion process with a considerably extended characteristic map and fuel-efficient lean-burn technology.
Power consumption by auxiliary units has been reduced. These include an optimized water pump with 2nd-generation thermal management, a demand-controlled oil pump, a volume-controlled high-pressure fuel pump and an intelligent generator management system.
Lightweight construction techniques and detailed improvements have also reduced in-engine friction considerably compared to the previous engine.

Engines and transmissions in detail: The SUV efficiency champion
The third-generation M-Class sets a new benchmark in the SUV segment. The
low fuel consumption figures and exemplary emissions figures are
particularly impressive. Compared with the outgoing model, the entire model
range consumes 25 percent less fuel on average. This kind of formidable
reduction in fuel consumption is unprecedented with any Mercedes-Benz SUV
model changeover to date. An ultra-modern engine line-up, concerted engine
downsizing, the best-in-class Cd value of 0.32, extensive BlueEFFICIENCY
measures and new development tools such as the "energy-transparent vehicle"
all play their part in delivering the good energy efficiency figures. The
highlight comes in the guise of the ML 250 BlueTEC 4MATIC, which is 28
percent more economical than its predecessor, boasts NEDC fuel consumption
of 6.0 l/100 km (158 g CO2/km) and has a range of up to 1500 kilometres on
a single tank - figures that only a few years ago remained the preserve of
the compact class.
BlueTEC diesel units and the new generation of BlueDIRECT direct-injection
petrol engines form the basis for the excellent economy and outstanding
life cycle assessment of the new M-Class. In this respect, downsizing takes
centre stage as far as the diesel models are concerned:
In the ML 250 BlueTEC 4MATIC, the 3.0-litre V6 of the previous model is
replaced by the thrifty four-cylinder EU6-standard unit already familiar
from, for instance, the S-Class.
The ML 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC features an extensively revamped 3.0-litre V6,
which also betters the EU6 standard and offers far better performance
coupled with a substantial reduction in fuel consumption. Thanks to
state-of-the-art AdBlue® emission control technology both diesel models
comfortably meet the EU6 standard slated for introduction in 2014.

Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG
Mercedes-Benz S 550 / S 500
We had the chance to drive the all new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG (V222)
for three days in the surrounds of Bielefeld and Dortmund. Here is our In
Depth Review of the strongest Mercedes-Benz S-Class, 2014 Mercedes-Benz S
65 AMG (V222). We enjoyed our test drive with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S 65
AMG (V222), we hope you will like our video review as well. Make sure you
dont miss the Start Up and the Exhaust
intro about the car
With the introduction of the W140 in 1991 in Geneva, Mercedes introduced a
12 cylinder engine in a S-Class for the first time, reacting to BMW effort
with the 7 series top modell. In 2004 Mercedes introduced the first S65 AMG
(after they already offered a AMG powered V12 in the S55 AMG). Last year I
was able to be part of the world premiere of the new S-Class, now be called
222 series and the debut of the all new S 65 AMG which had its debut at the
LA auto show 2013.
Let me get the facts out of the way first. The S65 AMG has a fine 6 Liter
V12 engine (for those Mercedes freaks - its the M279) that comes with 630
hp. Between 2.300-4.300 rpm it gives you a maximum torque of 1.000 Nm -
equals 738 foot pound of torque. All this power goes right to the rear.
Even though the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG weights 2250 kg (which equals 4960
pound), it accelarates from 0 to 100 km/h or even from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3
seconds. The topspeed is reached at 250 km/h / 155 mph - unless you spend
some extra bucks on the AMG drivers package - doing that your speed rush
will not end before reaching the 300 km/h, or 186 mph.
Ok, you can close your mouth and dream on. At least in Germany, you need at
least 232.050 Euros or 222.000 U$ to buy a S65 AMG. But then you have a
whole bunch of premium options included that you pay for extra on the
regular s-class for instance the AIR-BALANCE package, the Burmester High
End 3D-Surround Soundsystem with the COMAND Online infotainment-System, the
LED Intelligent Light System, Park-Assist package, MAGIC VISION CONTROL,
SPLITVIEW, the seat package with the massage functions and the panoramic
Mercedes builds an 80 Liter (21 gallons) tank in the S65 AMG and says you
can get a milage of 19.8 mpg (equals 11.9 liters for 100 kilometers). So in
theory at least, you should be able to drive a distance of 600 km / 373
miles without getting gas. Honestly, I even believe it is possible, but
then ... who would buy this car to drive it all slow and carefully instead
of just making the V12 roar. Yeah right, and not disable the ECO-Start
Just to rund up those numbers and figures - the S65 AMG only comes as the
long version called V222 (the short version is the W222) and it is 5.29m
long (17 feet 5 inch), 2.13m wide (7 feet) including the mirrors and its
height is 1.5m (5 feet). It has a turn radius of 12.3m (40 feet 5 inch).
Overall you are allowed to store up to 500 kg (1102 pound) in the car.

2012 Mercedes Benz SLK350 Roadster Ash Interior and Metallic Storm Red Exterior
http://www.eurocarnews.com - Merecedes Benz USA - The timeless, classic
shape of the side profile with the classic roadster proportions embodies
aesthetics of the highest caliber and is a visual cue to the sportiness and
driving pleasure in store. Fine details show the care that has been taken
by the Mercedes-Benz designers. For example, a molding conceals the trunk
joint, so that the side line cannot get in the way, as it usually does with
similar roof designs. The ventilation grilles in the front fenders with a
chromed fin are reminiscent of the famous Mercedes-Benz roadsters of the
1950s. In the new SLK they form the perfect starting point for a feature
line, which flows to the muscular rear fender, using light and shadow to
add style and timeless aesthetics to the sides. Meanwhile the upper edge of
the wide headlamps -- which for the first time boast all-LED technology --
also appears to flow into the feature line.
Despite the most compact dimensions in its class, the 2012 SLK has generous
interior dimensions. To achieve this, the designers have developed interior
appointments that offer the driver and passenger the highest degree of
quality and pure precision. The interior is characterized by stylish
sportiness and genuine high-quality materials which have been processed
with perfect precision and skilled craftsmanship. Standard brushed aluminum
trim covers the center console; wood trim can be ordered as an option in
high-gloss dark brown walnut. Four round, metallic air outlets integrated
in the dashboard emphasize that this model truly belongs to the
Mercedes-Benz sports car family, their shape being a nod to those in the
2014 Audi RS5 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 507 Coupe! - Head 2 Head Ep. 51
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover which
German hot-rod-personal-luxury-coupe is the best you can get. The 507 Coupe
is the last iteration of the W204 C63. With the exception of the very
limited-run Black Series, it's the best C63 that AMG has ever done. Under
its hood sits a hand-built, 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 good for 507
more do you want? Perhaps something more high-tech, and that's where the
Audi RS5 comes in. The sexy coupe from Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm features
a 4.2-liter V-8 that spits out 450 hp. That¹s less power than the 507
Coupe makes, true, but the Audi also features AWD, a dual-clutch
transmission, bigger wheels and tires, plus a trick torque-vectoring rear
differential. Which one is quicker? Which one is more fun to drive? Which
one is best? Watch and find out!
